Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 27: In exercise of power conferred under Sub-Section (2) of Section 10 of the Manoeuvres, Field Firing and Artillery Practice Act, 1938, all concerned have been informed that the firing practice of 74th batch recruitment constable of A&N Police is scheduled to be carried out at Police Firing Range, Prothrapur on Feb. 28 from 0530 hrs to 1400 hrs (Day Firing).
The general public especially, the villagers of Bird Line and Prothrapur area have been informed to keep themselves and their pets/animals away and to halt construction activity and movement of men and materials from the firing range during mentioned date and time.

Training Programme on Fruit Cultivation Organized for Nicobari Tribal Farmers
Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 27: Nutrition is the key to good health; however, the lack of sufficient knowledge among the masses about sources of various nutrients poses threat to the aim of achieving nutritional security. Fruits are also known as protective foods due to their richness in various vitamins, minerals as well as bioactive substances. As the islands are largely dependent on mainland supplies for various fruits, the climate of the islands provides opportunities for cultivation of several tropical fruit species. In order to promote cultivation of locally suited fruit crops among the Nicobari tribal families, a training programme on “Nutritional Security through Fruit Cultivation” was organized on February 22, 2025 at Harminder Bay, Little Andaman. The programme was organized by Dr. Pooja Bohra, Senior Scientist (Fruit Science), ICAR-CIARI, Sri Vijaya Puram.
She highlighted the nutritional importance of seasonal fruits being grown in the backyards of the island households. A total of 78 participants including 45 male and 33 female attended the programme. To promote fruit species in kitchen gardening, quality planting material of acerola (the richest source of vitamin C), Surinam cherry, Andaman Kokum, Acid lime and passion fruit was distributed under the Schedule Tribe Component among the participants representing all the 15 tuhets. Further, planting material of guava was also provided to the tribal council for establishing a community fruit garden.
Mr. Festus, Secretary, Tribal Council and Mr. Andrew Moses, First Captain expressed gratitude also enthused the participants for taking care of the plants in their kitchen gardens for ensuring the nutritional security of their households. Tribal council also expressed their gratitude to ICAR-CIARI for the technical support and distribution of quality planting material- the most important input in farming.

Revised Departure Timing for MV Hut Bay to Swaraj Dweep on Feb 28
Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 27: Due to administrative reasons, the scheduled departure time of the vessel MV Hut Bay to Swaraj Dweep on Feb. 28 at 1130 hrs from Sri Vijaya Puram has been preponed.
Now the vessel MV Hut Bay will sail for Swaraj Dweep at 1100 hrs instead of 1130 hrs on Feb. 28 from Phoenix Bay Jetty. Passengers have been advised to avail the sailing as per the revised timing.
1st National Lok Adalat of 2025 Scheduled for March 8 at Calcutta High Court Circuit Bench, Port Blair
Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 27: The 1st National Lok Adalat of 2025 is scheduled to be organized by High Court Legal Services Committee, Circuit Bench of Calcutta High Court, Port Blair on Saturday, the 8th March, 2025 at 10.30 a.m. in the Circuit Bench of Calcutta High Court premises, Port Blair to facilitate settlement of cases pending in the High Court, Calcutta including pre litigation matters likely to be filed before the High Court, Circuit Bench of Calcutta High Court at Port Blair by and amongst the parties thereto through ADR mechanism.
All concerned have been informed that applications, submitted jointly by parties and / or their Learned Advocates interested in getting their cases / matters settled before the National Lok Adalat would be received up to 5 pm on Feb. 28 at the Office of the HCLSC, Circuit Bench of Calcutta High Court Complex, Port Blair.
Such applications can also be mailed to this Office at hcourt.and@nic.in by the aforesaid date. The applications received after the aforesaid deadline, would be considered for the next Lok Adalat keeping in view the time taken to requisition the case records from the respective Departments, as well as for finalization of the Benches and the respective cause-lists.
Further it is informed that no reconstruction of the file will be entertained if, case record is not available before the Lok Adalat Bench and Cause List of this Lok Adalat will be prepared on the basis of availability of case records only.
Campbell Bay Fishermen Demand Immediate Repair of Cold Storage, Threaten Protest

Campbell Bay, Feb. 26: Fishermen Gram Sangam, Campbell Bay has voiced their grievances regarding the ongoing issue with the Cold Storage facility under the Fisheries Department, Campbell Bay.
According to information, the Cold Storage facility under the Fisheries Department, Campbell Bay has not reportedly been functioning properly for the past few months. In this regard, the Mukhiya, Fishermen Gram Sangam, Campbell Bay has reportedly written a letter to the Director, Directorate of Fisheries, Sri Vijaya Puram apprising the higher authority of the problems being faced by the fishing community owing to the defunct Cold Storage facility at Campbell Bay. Both the Pradhans of Gram Panchayat Govind Nagar and Gram Panchayat Campbell Bay had reportedly informed the Director of Fisheries Department much earlier about this matter and had reportedly urged the authority to dispatch cold storage gas by the first available cargo ship, but reportedly the situation remained unresolved, the letter further read.
The Cold Storage facility under the Fisheries Department, Campbell Bay is reportedly facing critical problems including failure to produce cold storage gas, damage to the wooden platform of the ice container, and improper production of ice cubes etc. These issues are reportedly severely impacting the ability of local fishermen to preserve and sell their catch, Mukhiya, Fishermen Gram Sangam wrote in the letter. Furthermore, the Fishermen Committee of Campbell Bay has reportedly made multiple verbal requests to the Officials of the Fisheries Dept. but reportedly no action has been taken so far and thus the issues reportedly remained unresolved, the Mukhiya claimed in the letter.
Andaman Sheekha Daily, on the other hand, spoke to the Pradhan, Govin Nagar, Shri G Venkat Rao in order to know more on the matter, and the Pradhan said that the issues raised by Fishermen Gram Sangam, Campbell Bay are reportedly of genuine nature and required to be addressed much earlier to safeguard the interests of the fishing community in the area, but unfortunately, reportedly the issues of the Cold Storage facility haven’t resolved yet, he decried.
In light of the ongoing challenges, Fishermen Gram Sangam has reportedly urged the concerned Officials to repair and restore the cold storage facility on priority. However, if this situation is not reportedly addressed, the Fishermen Community will be reportedly compelled to organize a peaceful protest/dharna tomorrow i.e. 27th Feb. 2025, and if no action is reportedly taken by 11:00 a.m., then they will reportedly be left with no other option but to resort to mounting a road blockage/chakka jam, they further threatened in the letter.

It is capable of performing a wide range of diagnostic procedures, including cardiac scans, brain imaging, and whole-body scans, ensuring comprehensive care for diverse medical needs.

59th Annual General Body Meeting of Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank held
Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 25: The 59th Annual General Body Meeting of Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank was held on 25.02.2025 at its Conference Hall. Shri. K Subramani, Vice- Chairman, A&NSt.CB Ltd chaired the meeting. The Board of Directors, Members of PACS (Primary Agriculture Credit Societies) and various affiliated Societies and Bank officials were also present.
At the outset, K Murugan, Managing Director welcomed the delegates wholeheartedly and expressed gratitude to the dignitaries present on the dais. He also expressed gratitude to the representatives of various cooperative societies for attending the meet.
Shri. K Subramani, Vice-Chairman, A&NSt.CB Ltd in his key note address on Banking & other development, social & Govt. He informed the General Body that there has been substantial progress and highlighted the various performance parameters of the bank before the General Body.
