Diglipur, 13 February: The Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti Diglipur has highlighted a number of issues which have been reportedly affecting the functioning of the PRIs.
According to information, Shri Dipankar Mistry, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Diglipur has highlighted a number of issues which have been reportedly affecting the functioning of the PRIs and in wake of this, he had convened a meeting.
Taking to Andaman Sheekha Daily, the Pramukh said that reiterating his statement in his previous letter, the Pramukh has reportedly written another letter to the Director, RD, PRIs & ULBs, A & N Administration, Sri Vijaya Puram with the urge to consider upon the minutes of the meeting held under the Chairmanship of the Pramukh on 24th Dec. 24 in his Chamber.
The Pramukh said that the PRI Members present in the meeting reportedly emphasized the importance of ensuring that work orders are processed and issued without unnecessary delay, as delay may halt ongoing projects and negatively impact on community development. Further, it was reportedly resolved in the meeting that the respective Departments would streamline the process to ensure timely issuance of work orders. Regular monitoring and updates would be provided to keep track of progress and address any bottlenecks immediately, he said.
The attendees discussed the current limits on Work Orders given by the Gram Panchayat to Co-operative societies, the Pramukh further said. Concerns were raised about the limitations placed on the society’s ability to undertake multiple projects simultaneously, which hampers their growth and contribution to local development, as observed by the PRI Members, Mr. Mistry maintained. It was agreed to extend the work order limits to allow Co-operative societies to participate in more projects, he said. “This change is expected to promote local development and economic growth” as claimed by the Pramukh.
The necessity of re-establishing the Executive Engineer’s Office in Diglipur also found place in the discussion, the Pramukh said. Members highlighted the benefits of having this Office operational, including improved oversight, better management of projects, and more efficient coordination between different departments within the sub-division, Mr. Mistry stressed. The transfer of the Assistant Engineer, PRI (Planning) was reportedly discussed in the meeting, he said.
The Pramukh said that he had raised these issues earlier and urged the Director, RD, PRIs & ULBs, A & N Administration for resolving them within time frame, but, since a couple of weeks have reportedly elapsed and no positive response was reportedly shown to their issues, all the Members of the PRIs, such as the ZPMs & Samiti Members and all the Pradhans of the 15 Gram Panchayats under Diglipur Tehsil will reportedly jointly hold a protest in front of the Administrative Building, Diglipur on 17th Feb. 2025, and they would also reportedly resort to taking a pen-down strike until their issues are resolved, the Pramukh threatened.
