Diglipur, January 21: The farmers of Diglipur region breathed a sigh of relief after Dr. Apurva Sharma, Director, Agriculture Department, A & N Administration visited Diglipur and interacted with the farmers and Diglipur Farmer Union recently.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha Daily, Mr. Kamal Halder, President, Diglipur Farmer Union said that Dr. Apurva Sharma, Director, Agriculture Department, A & N Administration visited Diglipur and interacted with the farmers and Diglipur Farmer Union on 18th January 2025.
Earlier, a meeting was held in the Conference Hall of the Administrative Building, Diglipur to this effect on 17th January 2025 at around 04:00 pm, Mr. Kamal Halder. In the meeting, the Director heard the grievances of the farmers raised by the Farmer Union. However, the Agriculture Director elaborately spoke on the adverse effects of chemical fertilizers and the advantages of using organic fertilizers in the fields for growing vegetables. He also assured the farmer community to extend all possible assistance to their agricultural activities and which the Farmer Union hugely hailed, Mr. Halder said.
The following day the Director visited the farmers’ fields in different villages and inspected the vegetable plants. During his visit, he interacted with the farmers and heard their grievances and problems emerged owing to non-availability of fertilizers. The Agri. Director, after giving a patient hearing to the grievances voiced by the farmers in the field, assured the harried farmers that the Dept. is working hard on it and is trying its best to resolve the issue on priority, Mr. Halder said.
Expressing his gratitude to Dr. Apurva Sharma for visiting the fields and farmers of Diglipur, Mr. Kamal Halder conveyed his heartfelt thanks to the Agriculture Director and his endeavour, Diglipur Farmer Union’s President further added.
