Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 23: In exercise of power conferred under M.V. Act 1988 (Act No.59 of 1988) read with Administration’s Notification No./2008/F.No.32-95/2008-TR dated 10th March, 2008, the District Magistrate, South Andaman District has notified the temporary closure of road between Dhanikari Junction to Manglutan Junction for a period of 10 days with effect from Dec. 24, 2024 to Jan. 2, 2025 for the periodic renewal of rural road between Manglutan Junction and Dhanikari Junction (2.35 Km) including 01 No. Box culvert of size 1X1m and CC drain for the length of 250 mtrs. under Assistant Engineer-III, CD-III, Prothrapur.

Healthy Baby Contest to Be Held on Dec. 30 as Part of Island Tourism Festival 2024
Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 23: As part of the Island Tourism Festival 2024, scheduled from Dec. 27 to 31, 2024, the Directorate of Health Services and UT Health Mission will be organizing a Healthy Baby Contest on Dec.30, 2024 at 9.30 am at the ITF Ground, VIP Road, Sri Vijaya Puram.
Parents have been invited to participate in the Healthy Baby Contest with their children on 30th December at 9.30 am at the ITF Ground.
The details of the Healthy Baby Contest are as mentioned below: Categories:
• 1 to 2 years
• 2 to 3 years
• 3 to 5 years
Registration of Babies will be done from 9.30 am to 10.30 am
Evaluation will be done from 12 noon to 1pm
Prize Distribution will be held on the same day i.e. 30th December 2024.
The required documents for verification are Birth Certificate of the baby, ANC card of the mother, Immunization Card and Family Planning Adoption Document (if applicable).
This event celebrates health and happiness, emphasizing the importance of early childhood wellness. The Directorate of Health Services and UT Health Mission looks forward and welcome all parents with children to this joyful occasion at the ITF ground on December 30.
Workshop On “Prashashan Goan Ki Ore” held at Tagore Government College by District Administration, South Andaman
Port Blair, Dec 23: As a part of the initiative of the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), Government of India, the District Administration, South Andaman is observing the Good Governance Week (Sushasan Saptah) campaign “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore” from 19th December, 2024 to 24th December 2024 in which multiple events focused on bringing governance closer to the people is being organized.
In this connection a dissemination workshop was organized by the District Administration, South Andaman at the Conference Hall of Tagore Government College as a part of the ongoing campaign. The workshop was chaired by Shri Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, ADM(SA)/AC(SA) and was graced by Shri Ram Chander Ex-ADM and Shri Som Naidu, DANICS Ex-Assistant Commissioner (S) of A&N Administration. PRIs, general public and officials of Sri Vijaya Puram Tehsil participated in the workshop. The gathering focused on the successful implementation of the campaign.
A detailed Power Point presentation (PPT) was delivered by officials of the District Administration, providing detailed insights into the objectives, progress, and key initiatives under the campaign. The session emphasized the importance of governance reforms and efforts aimed at reaching the grassroots level, ensuring effective delivery of services to rural communities.
The workshop provided a valuable platform for collaboration among different departments, fostering a spirit of teamwork to achieve the goals of “Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore” and contribute to better governance.
Nayi Chetna Campaign Against Gender-Based Violence Concludes Successfully in Diglipur
Diglipur, Dec. 23:The Nayi Chetna Campaign, a national initiative against Gender-Based Violence by C.D Block Diglipur concluded today. The month-long Campaign, which began on 25th November, featured awareness programs, rangoli competitions, quizzes and rallies across various Gram Panchayats. The concluding event saw enthusiastic participation from women.
Sanjana Kumari, Cluster Coordinator, NLRM, welcomed the gathering. This was followed by addresses of Shri M. Rajendra Kumar, BDO Diglipur, Smt. Indira Devi, CDPO ICDS and Dr. Shipra from CHC Diglipur. Prizes were distributed to the winners and participants, who pledged to promote gender equality and stand against violence.
Shri Bibhash Mazumdar, Extension Officer and Debasis Poddar, Cluster Coordinator, NLRM, appreciated the community’s involvement in making the campaign a success.
Hasya Kavi Sammelan to Bring Laughter to Island Tourism Festival on Dec. 30
Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec. 23: In the series of programmes to be organized during the Island Tourism Festival-2024, a ‘Hasya Kavi Sammelan’ will be organized at the ITF Ground by the Official Language Department, Andaman and Nicobar Administration on Dec. 30 at 6 pm.
In this programme, well-known Hasya Poets from mainland, Shri Rajesh “Chetan”, Shri Rajesh Agarwal, Shri Sudeep “Bhola”, Smti. Monika “Dehalvi”, Shri Upendra Pandey, and Shri Chetan “Charchit” will present their humorous compositions. General public have been invited to this program.
Pondicherry University Theory Exams Rescheduled to Jan. 6-20, 2025
