Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 06:State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) under Directorate of Social Welfare organized an adoption awareness program on 29.11.2024 at Bambooflat Tsunami Shelter, with Anganwadi workers and General public.
Shmti T. Dharmila, Programme Officer of State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) addressed on Legal Adoptions providing accurate information which helps dispel misconceptions and encourages a more positive outlook on adoption and also informed about the newly recognized Specialized Adoption Agencies in the A & N Islands. She explained the roles and responsibilities of Adoption Agencies, including how they facilitate the matching process and provide guidance throughout the adoption journey.
Smti. Suman S Barla (DCPU) Protection Officer (NIC) discussed the legal aspects of adoption including the procedures and documentation required with adoption, and ensuring that every child has a loving and stable home, adoptive parents to understand the legal framework involved.
Smti. Anitha Rao, Mukiya Sevika urged the general public to share the awareness they gained today with friends and family members. She also encouraged the importance of education, especially to students to focus on their studies and recognize their inner talents to excel in their respective fields.
The Anganwadi workers and general public were suggested to encourage such parents in their community who were in need to adopt children and send them to the Directorate of Social Welfare, Room No. 308.

ABVP Andaman and Nicobar Islands Pays Tribute to Dr. Bhima Rao Ambedkar on His 68th Death Anniversary
Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 06:The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Andaman and Nicobar Islands, observed the 68th death anniversary of Dr. Bhima Rao Ambedkar with a solemn tribute ceremony at the Ambedkar Auditorium in Aberdeen Bazar. The event was marked as Samajik Samarasta Diwas, celebrating the ideals of social justice and unity advocated by Dr. Ambedkar throughout his life.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Kandi Muthu, the Vibhag Pramukh of ABVP, Sri Vijaya Puram who emphasized the significance of Dr. Ambedkar’s vision for an equitable society. Following this, Mr. Tejinder Singh, City President Sri Vijaya Puram, spoke about the life and enduring legacy of Dr. Ambedkar, highlighting his role in the social upliftment of marginalized communities and his unwavering commitment to justice.
In his speech, Dr. Gagan Deep, Study Circle Pramukh, of ABVP, shared insights into Dr. Ambedkar’s personal struggles and the challenges he faced in his journey towards nation-building. He reflected on the transformative contributions Ambedkar made to India’s social, political, and economic spheres.
One of the key highlights of the program was a detailed talk by Dr. Santosh Kumar Jha,Vice President,Dakshin Bengal, who elaborated on Dr. Ambedkar’s pivotal role in the drafting and framing of the Indian Constitution. Dr. Jha’s address underscored how Ambedkar’s vision of equality and justice laid the foundation for India’s democratic framework.
The event also saw the participation of ABVP’s student karyakartas, who shared their thoughts on Ambedkar’s values and his contribution to shaping the modern Indian state. Mr. Rajeev Tiwari,City Vice President spoke about Ambedkar’s crucial influence in the creation of India’s Constitution, emphasizing how it reflected Dr. Ambedkar’s commitment to ensuring fundamental rights for all citizens, especially the marginalized.
The program concluded with floral tributes at the Ambedkar statue, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Satyajit Halder, Secretary & National Executive Council member(NEC) of ABVP, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The event was a poignant reminder of Dr. Ambedkar’s lasting impact on the nation and his relentless pursuit of social equality.
The ABVP has reiterated its commitment to carrying forward Dr. Ambedkar’s vision of a just and inclusive society, continuing to inspire the youth of the region to follow his principles of social justice and national unity.
JNRM RRC and NSS Organises HIV/AIDS Awareness Rally
Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 06:As a part of world AIDS Day 2024 events ,the Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of JNRM in association with National Service Scheme (NSS) Units of Jawaharlal Nerhru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya organized a HIV/AIDS awareness rally to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS and the importance of Safeguarding individual rights to highlight the theme ”Take the Rights Path ” on 06.12.24.
The rally began from Dr. Syama Prashad Park at 3.30 P.M and passing via Clock tower, Model School back to Clock tower to Tiranga Park Gandhi statue to Clock tower and Culminated at Dr. Syama Prashad Park parking space. Dr.H.K.Sharma, Principal, JNRM was the Chief Guest and Dr.N.Balakrishnan HoD,Departmernt of Political Science and Kaushik Kumar,Assistant Director (IEC),ANACS was the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest Dr.H.K.Sharma advised the students to be focused on good habbits and learning subjects as well as virtues of life which only can make a good and responsible Citizen. He appreciated the NSS and RRC for organizing such events to bring awareness among the common people. The principal flagged off the rally in which around 120 Students of NSS and RRC participated.
Earlier the RRC Nodal Officer, JNRM Dr.Kandimuthu spoke on the importance of this rally and this year’s theme of events ”Take the Rights Path” and the RRC activities. Kaushik Kumar, Assistant Director (IEC), ANACS, spoke on the various aspects and importance of Safeguarding individual rights of a HIV infected Person. Dr.Ratna Kushwah, Assistant Professor, Hindi and Programme officer NSS delivered the welcome Speech and the Programme was concluded with concluding remarks by the Coordinator of the Programme Dr. Satya Prakash Assistant Professor, Geography and Programme officer NSS. Dr.R.P.Palani Swami,Associate Professor,Commerce and Dr.Santosh Kumar Jha ,Assistant Professor, Botany and Programme officer NSS were also participated in the programme.
Desiccated Coconut Processing Unit Inaugurated at Mayabunder under PMFME Scheme
Sri Vijaya Puram, Dec 06: The Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman, Shri. Dilkhush Meena, IAS, inaugurated M/s Blue X Desiccated Industry yesterday at Ganesh Tikri, Lucknow village, Mayabunder, N&M Andaman in the presence of Assistant Commissioner, Shri. Ashish Joon and Shri Saw Thomas, Pradhan Gram Panchayat, Rampur. This is one of the units promoted under Prime Minister’s Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME).
The Industries Department has been implementing flagship programme of Ministry of Food Processing Industries ‘Prime Minister’s Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises’ as part of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan since FY 2020-21, with an aim to strengthen backward/ forward linkages, common infrastructure, packaging, branding and marketing of processed food products of Micro Enterprises.
Under the scheme, the Micro Food Processing Enterprises shall be supported with package of Incentives for creation, expansion, modernization and formalization of their new/ existing units. For supporting individual enterprises, bank credit is offered for the project cost upto Rs. 1.00 Crore and credit link capital subsidy @35% of the project cost shall be provided under the scheme with a maximum ceiling of Rs.10.00 Lakh per unit. Beneficiary’s contribution should be minimum 10% of the project cost.
As on date, 19 projects with a cumulative project cost of Rs.483.60 Lakh has been sanctioned under the scheme. One of the projects was sanctioned to Shri S. Loganathan, budding Entrepreneur from Middle Andaman District for setting up of desiccated coconut industry at Mayabunder. The State Bank of India has sanctioned term loan of Rs. 25.00 Lakhs on 10.04.2024.
By virtue of the above initiatives of the Department and timely release of term loan from the bank, the promoter, Shri S Loganathan could able to setup Desiccated Coconut Processing Unit at Lucknow village, Mayabunder.

Talents galore were witnessed as series of Scientific models created by students representing various schools in A&N Islands came alive at the two day Rajya Stariya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshini (RSBVP) 2024-25 under the banner Gyanodaya in collaboration with Samgara Shiksha and DESM-NCERT, New Delhi in the auditorium of Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram. The two days exceptional scientific innovation and creativity exhibition revolves on the theme ‘Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future,’ brought together around 100 projects/models from different schools covering the length & breadth of A&N Islands.
Students from different classes showcased research-based projects across various sub-themes including Food, Health & Hygiene, Transport and Communication, Natural Farming, Disaster Management, Mathematical Modeling and Computational Thinking, Waste Management, Resource Management etc.
The exhibition demonstrated the students’ exceptional ability to connect theoretical concepts with practical applications. These young innovators were able to show remarkable insight into addressing real-world challenges through scientific exploration. The event stands as a testament to the vibrant scientific spirit among the students and the dedication of educational institutions in nurturing future scientists and innovators. The exhibition focuses on sustainable solutions particularly highlighted how the next generation is setting a strong foundation for future scientific endeavors.
Schools from various educational zones of A&N Islands have put up their exhibits in this State Level Exhibition. Students interested in exploring new talents and innovative ideas, can witness the exhibition which will be opened tomorrow (Dec. 7).
