Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 29 : The Secretary (Social Welfare), Shri. L Kumar, IAS, A & N Administration inaugurated two newly constructed Anganwadi Centres namely Carbyn Quarry 2 and Beodnabad under ICDS Urban Project South Andaman today in the presence of Shri Rajesh Ram, Councillor (Ward No.22), Shri. Paramasivam, Pradhan, Beodnabad, Shri, PC James, PO ICDS, Zilla Parisad Member, Samiti Member, PRI Members, Executive Engineer (APWD, CD-II & CD-III), Assistant Engineer (APWD, CD-II & CD-III), Junior Engineer (APWD, CD-II & CD-III), Head Mistress (Govt. Middle School, Brookshabad), Paramedical staff and general public.
The Secretary (Social Welfare) underlined the importance of community participation in supporting Anganwadi workers and ensuring that children benefit from these services. Collaboration between parents, community leaders, and the Government is essential for creating a strong support system for children’s holistic development. The chief guest further highlighted the Government’s commitment to ensuring every child, especially in Urban areas to receive adequate nutrition and education (Poshan Bhi – Padai Bhi).
Smti. Zarina Bibi, Child Development Project Officer, ICDS Urban Project welcomed the gathering and appraised the support from the line Department and active participation of the community. She also explained about the contribution of the Anganwadi Centres in the village.
The Ward Councillor, Pradhan, and Zilla Parishad Member expressed their gratitude to the Secretary (Social Welfare) for fulfilling the demand for an Anganwadi Centre in their respective areas. The vote of thanks was delivered by Smti. Jessy Susan George, Mukhya Sevika.
