Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 28: In continuation to Administration’s Press Note dated 22.07.2024 published in the Daily Telegrams dated 24.07.2024 inviting applications from amongst the interested/willing Muslim persons for nominating as the 3rd member of Waqf Tribunal, which is to be constituted under Section 83 of Waqf Act, 1995. The period of receiving application has been extended for a further period of 30 days from the date of its publication in the Daily Telegrams.
Further, the appointment of 3rd member is in accordance with the A & N Islands Waqf Board (Amendment) Rule 46(b) (iii), notified in the Gazette of A & N Administration, Secretariat vide Notification No. 14/2024/F.No.20- 32(1)/2017/Waqf (Rev) dated 08.03.2024, stipulates as below:
“iii. One person having knowledge of Muslim Law and Jurisprudence, who shall be a member.
Appointment of Members shall be made by designation except the person mentioned at sub-rule b(iii), if he is not an officer of the State Govt. shall be appointed by name for a period of 03 (three) years or till he attains the age of 65 (sixty five), whichever is earlier.”
The application along with bio-data from the interested/willing Muslim Persons for the above mentioned category should reach the Office of Assistant Secretary (Rev/Waqf), A&N Administration, Secretariat, on or before the stipulated time. Application received after the due date will not be entertained/considered under any circumstances.

Training on Vessel Communication Systems Conducted for Fishermen in North & Middle Andaman
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 28: A training programme was organized by the Department of Fisheries, A & N Administration in the conference hall of District Office, N&MA under national rollout of vessel communication and support system projects of Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Govt. of India. The objective of the training was to impart training to Master Trainers on Application and Maintenance of Transponders.
The Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman, Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS addressed the Master Trainer / Fishermen for their participation in the one day training programme and spoke about the significance of transponders to safeguard life of fishermen at Sea. The Deputy Commissioner appreciated the efforts of Tejas Networks and Zonal Fisheries Office for organizing the programme.
The Senior Manager, Tejas Networks, Shri Shrikant Rao conducted the Training Programme. During the session, he explained the importance of transponders and benefits to various stakeholders i.e. Department of Fisheries, Fishermen, Boat Owners, Maritime Agencies. During emergencies the fishermen can send SOS for medical assistance, fire accident, engine malfunction, man overboard, etc. to the shore. At the same time, the agencies on the shore can broadcast weather alert like cyclone, heavy rain, high tide, etc. to the fishermen in high sea with the advisories to immediately move to safe place. The important features of the transponders are two – way communication, SOS, PFZ data, weather alerts, etc. A small video on installation of transponders was also shown to the participants.
The entire programme was coordinated by Shri Tapan Kr. Biswas, Asst. Director of Fisheries, N&M Andaman District. The Asst. Director of Fisheries has expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner, N&M Andaman for motivating the participants.
Little Andaman Conducts Training on Addressing Child Needs Through Bal Sabhas Under RGSA Initiative
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 28: The CD Block of Little Andaman conducted a Block Level Training Programme on ‘Addressing Child Needs through Bal Sabhas’ yesterday, at the Panchayat Samiti Hall. This initiative, held under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA), aimed to benefit local officials including Pradhan, students from Govt. Model Senior Secondary School Hutbay, Panchayat Functionaries, Child Protection Committee and teachers.
The session was inaugurated by Shri S. Paramanathan, Pramukh of Panchayat Samiti, Little Andaman as the chief guest. Shri Belthazer, Block Development Officer, delivered an introductory speech emphasizing the training’s benefits for participants.
This was followed by an insightful introduction on the concept and importance of Bal Sabhas by Smti S. Parmeswari, Block Programme Manager (BPM). Shri. Krishna Kanta Golder, Cluster Coordinator (CC), provided valuable insights on the roles and responsibilities of child members in Bal/Balika Sabhas which are crucial for fostering child empowerment, community participation, and protection of child rights. Shri. Mohan Rao, Station House Officer(SHO) Hut Bay and Smti Albakka, Mukhya Sevika, ICDS also spoke on the occasion.
CRPF to Conduct Annual Firing Practice at Police Range, Prothrapur; Public Advised to Stay Clear
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 28: The Annual Range Classification of Firing Practice (ARCF) will be carried out by CRPF Unit at Police Firing Range, Bird Line, Prothrapur on Nov. 29 and 30 from 0600 hrs to 1600 hrs.
Meanwhile, the general public, villagers/residents of Bird Line and Prothrapur area have been urged to keep themselves and their cattle away from the firing range during the mentioned date and time.
