Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov. 21: The residents of Macca Pahad village Ward No. 02 under Gram Panchayat Beodnabad are wrestling with the water scarcity problem owing to non-existence of a water pipeline in the region.
According to information, the delay in laying pipelines in Macca Pahad village Ward No. 02 under Gram Panchayat Beodnabad has worsened the drinking water crisis in the region. Talking to Andaman Sheekha Daily, Shri Paramasivam, Pradhan, GP Beodnabad said that the villagers and public are struggling due to the lack of pipeline water supply in the area. People here lack access to safe water and have to trek a long distance to fetch water from wells and nearby nallahs and are forced to use the water for drinking as well as domestic purposes, the Pradhan claimed. The residents of Chidiyatapu are facing the similar kind of problems, the Pradhan said. The villagers approached the concerned Officials of the APWD multiple times to solve the water crisis but to no avail; till date the water problem has not been resolved, the Pradhan decried. Furthermore, the GP also approached APWD and met with various Officials right from the concerned Junior Engineer to the concerned Executive Engineer but the problem hasn’t been resolved till date, the Pradhan maintained. In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, the Pradhan him of the grim situation of the water in the region and urged the CS to impress upon the concerned authority/Dept. to redress the problem by laying the pipelines and extending water-tap connections to the households in the region, the Pradhan informed. However, laying of pipeline has been recently sanctioned in certain areas under GP Beodnabad but pipe laying work has not yet started yet while more than half area is still to get the nod from the department, the Pradhan further said.

Democracy Making in Roads into Jarawa Tribal Areas
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 21: In a historic and transformative step, the Jarawa tribe of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been brought into India’s democratic fold with their enrollment in the electoral roll. For the first time, members of the Jarawa community will participate in the electoral process, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s democratic journey.
A total of 19 Jarawas have been enrolled in the electoral roll through the submission of Form-6 to the Booth Level Officer. The Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS, personally received the first Form-6 from a member of the Jarawa tribe at their hamlet in the Jirkatang area of South Andaman.
This groundbreaking decision reflects ongoing efforts to include all indigenous communities in India’s democratic framework while safeguarding their unique culture and way of life. The enrollment process, spearheaded by the District Election Officer, South Andaman, Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, was conducted with the utmost sensitivity and respect for the traditions and privacy of the Jarawa people.
To ensure cultural integrity and smooth execution, the Andaman Adim Janjati Vikas Samiti, Tribal Welfare Department played a key role in educating the Jarawa community about the electoral process and assisting with their registration. The initiative highlights the administration’s commitment to empowering tribal communities while preserving their distinct identities.
Chief Secretary Mr. Keshav Chandra expressed pride in this milestone, stating, “This is a significant achievement for our democratic process. It underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that all tribal communities, including the Jarawa, are given an opportunity to exercise their democratic rights without compromising their cultural heritage.”
This historic step not only affirms the inclusivity of India’s democratic system but also reinforces the Andaman and Nicobar Administration’s dedication to empowering tribal communities and protecting their rights.
AATO President M.Vinod attends ADTOI Meeting
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 21: Mr. M.Vinod, President, AATO and active member of ADTOI, attended the General House Meeting of Association of Domestic Tour Operators of India held on 21st November 2024, at Hotel Metropolitan & Spa, New Delhi.
This was the first General House meeting after the new committee of ADTOI took the charge and was participated by members from all parts of the country.
As discussed by the previous committee about forming a separate Chapter for A&N Islands, the newly appointed National President of ADTOI, Mr. Ved Khanna, announced that very soon a Separate Chapter for ADTOI, Andaman will be announced.
Mr. Vinod congratulated the new team of ADTOI and thanked them for opening a new chapter in Andaman soon
Mr. Vinod also requested all members present to include Andaman Islands in their tour itenaries and promote Brand Andaman.
Mr. Vinod further said Opening of a separate chapter for Andaman by ADTOI will provide a platform for Islands tourism stakeholders to work with stakeholders from all parts of the country and also the grievances of the stakeholders can be raised at appropriate platforms by the National Association.
Police Station Pahargaon Solved a Theft Case within 24 Hrs
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 21: In continuation to zero tolerance policy against any kind of crime, a dedicated team of PS Pahargaon has cracked a theft case within a short span of time, resulting in apprehension of Children in Conflict with Law (CCL).
That on 20/11/2024, a complaint was lodged by D. Arockiyam S/o Mrs. Amala Deepa (31) yrs R/o Burmanallah regarding theft of cash worth Rs.10k from his café located near vehicle parking area at Bathubasti on 19/11/2024 at around 2115 hrs.
Acting swiftly, a case has been registered at PS Pahargaon and a team was constituted under the supervision of Inspr. Mohd Elias, SHO PS Pahargaon, led by SI Sudhir Kumar, HC Ravi Kumar Limbu, PCs Rahul Kumar Maurya and D Shiv Kumar of PS Pahargaon.
During the investigation, the team meticulously analyzed the CCTV footages and gathered local intelligence, leading to the identification of the suspect. The accused identified as Children in Conflict with Law (CCL) was apprehended.
The general public is requested to share information pertaining to any crime or other illegal activities to Police at 112, 03192-232100 & 03192-236641. The identity of the informant will be kept secret.
ANTCC President appeals for Immediate Creation of GTT Computer Science Teacher Posts in ANI
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 21: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President Mr. Rangalal Halder has made an appeal to the Lieutenant Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, highlighting the urgent need for the creation of Graduate Trained Teacher (GTT) Computer Science posts in our Islands.
In his Letter, Mr. Halder expressed deep concern over the prolonged neglect of this issue, which has persisted for more than 15 years. This delay has left numerous qualified computer science educators in the islands without the opportunity to contribute to the educational framework.
Mr. Halder pointed out that many aspiring teachers with computer science qualifications have been forced to accept low-paying jobs outside their specialization, which neither align with their skills nor meet their career aspirations.
Mr. Halder stated that the creation of GTT Computer Science Teacher posts is a pressing need which is to address while ensuring that students in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands receive the quality computer science education they deserve.
He further appeals to the LG to take swift action and resolve this critical issue for the betterment of our Islanders.”
0.3500 Hects of Government Land Reclaimed at Little Andaman by District Administration, SA
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 21: An eviction drive was successfully carried out today at Rabindra Nagar village under Little Andaman Tehsil. The operation targeted two fresh encroachments identified on government land, which were subsequently removed.
Through this initiative, an area measuring 0.3500 hectares has been restored to its original status. The drive reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding government land and ensuring its lawful utilization.
As part of its ongoing efforts to address unauthorized encroachments, the District Administration emphasizes the importance of equitable land resource management and maintaining public order. Coastal Defence Exercise ‘Sea Vigil-24’
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 21: The fourth edition of pan India Coastal Defence Exercise ‘Sea Vigil-24’ was conducted by Headquarters Andaman and Nicobar Command from 1321 Nov 24 for Andaman and Nicobar region. The aim of the exercise was to comprehensively validate the efficacy of the Coastal Defence response across the Andaman & Nicobar region against threats arising from the sea whilst catering for latest developments in technology and tactics in maritime warfare. In addition, the exercise aims to sustain a balanced focus between Coastal Defence and Coastal Security in the islets. The desired outcome of the exercise was to assess own readiness state and identify gaps (if any) in the existing defence mechanism. Interagency coordination was also assessed by activation of the complete Coastal Defence Mechanism.
The exercise was conducted in two phases. Phase I involved conduct of Coastal Defence & Security Readiness Evaluation (CDSRE) wherein, security agencies deployed personnel and assets to undertake validation of the Coastal Defence Mechanism from
13-19 Nov 24. During Phase II, simulated attacks and contingencies emanating from beyond the territorial waters were exercised from 20-21 Nov 24.
Sea Vigil involved participation of all stakeholders in Coastal Defence Mechanism including Andaman and Nicobar Command, A&N Administration, A&N Police, Police Marine Force (PMF), DSS, Special Bureau, PMB, Fisheries, NCC cadets & other agencies. The exercise was controlled and monitored by Joint Operations Centre (Coastal Security) at Headquarters, Andaman and Nicobar Command. The exercised brought out that the coastal security network was robust and the forces are ready to counter any infiltration attempt by adversary state/ non state actors.
