Basantipur/Diglipur, Nov. 13: The villagers residing in Basantipur have pressed for an immediate up-gradation of the existing Sub-Centre at Nimbudera under Gram Panchayat Basantipur to a Primary Health Centre.
According to information, villagers have to face severe challenges to access timely medical care, especially during emergencies such as snake bites, childbirth, or heart attacks.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Daily, the Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Basantipur Shri Ramkrishna Roy said that Basantipur is home to a significant number of residents, including those from Paiket Bay, a benighted area in the region. The nearest Primary Health Centre (PHC) is located in Billiground, making it challenging for the villagers to get the required health care service, timely medical care, especially during emergencies such as snake bites, childbirth, heart attacks, etc. Hence the situation has given birth to the requirement of an early up-gradation of the existing Sub-Centre at Nimbudera under Gram Panchayat Basantipur to a Primary Health Centre, the Pradhan emphasized.
The Pradhan also wrote a letter to the Secretary Health, A & N Administration, Sri Vijaya Puram stating that the current facilities and staff at the Sub-Centre at Nimbudera/VHWC are inadequate to address the healthcare needs of the population in the region. An upgrade of the center, along with the provision of more medical personnel, would significantly improve health services and which in turn would greatly enhance the health and wellbeing of the community in the area, he said in the letter. The Pradhan also mentioned in the letter that it is ensured that the villagers under his Gram Panchayat receive prompt and effective medical attention, the Pradhan further added.
