Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 17: As part of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative and as per directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India, the Foundation Day of Jharkhand was celebrated enthusiastically in Raj Niwas. Persons hailing from Jharkhand participated in the function. During the event, an interaction and experience sharing session was also conducted. A short documentary on Jharkhand was screened. The function ended with high tea, group photograph and presentation of mementos to invitees.
The participants thanked MHA, Govt. of India and Raj Niwas for the initiative and for providing them opportunities and platform for interaction.

Prajapita Brahmakumaris to Host Special Program on 12 Jyotirlingam Darshan in Chouldhari
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 17: The Local Centre of the Prajapita Brahmakumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya propose to organize a special Program on 12 Jyotirlingam Darshan from 18th to 20th November 2024 from 5.00 to 9.00 pm in the Community Hall at Chouldhari. In addition to 12 Jyotirlingam Darshan, there will be Rajyoga Exhibition, Glimpse of Meditation experience & literature counters on various topics. The aim of this program is to facilitate people to connect with the Supreme source of peace and happiness, and understand the relevance of their beliefs and practices with practical life.
As a follow up of the Program, a 3day Special Rajayoga Meditation Course is propose to be organized at Anganwari Center, Nayabasti, Chouldhari from 21st to 23rd November 2024 form 4.00 to 5.00 pm
Plantation by Director ZSI in Experimental Garden of BSI
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 17: Botanical Survey of India organized the plantation programme at Dhanikhari Experimental Garden-cum-Arboretum, Nayashahar, South Andaman, of this office on 14.11.2024 as a part of Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign of Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of India. The programme was initiated with a welcome address by Addl. Director & Regional Head, Dr. Lal Singh followed by the plantation of seedlings of coffee family plant species, Pyrostria laljii which represents the first record of the genus Pyrostria for India. by the Chief Guest, Dr. Dhriti Banerjee, Director, Zoological Survey of India, MoEF & CC, Govt. of India by planting seedlings of coffee family plant species, Pyrostria laljii M.C. Naik which represents the first record of the genus Pyrostria for India from this Islands. During her visit Dr. Singh brifed about the current activities of Experimental Garden on the conservation of the floral diversity of the Islands in order to save the environment. Dr. Banerjee also interacted with Scientists of BSI and discussed on plant diversity of the Islands.
Scientists from ZSI, Dr. C. Raghunathan, Dr. Tamal Mondal, Dr. Debashree Dam, Dr. Atanu Naskar, and Prof. Ayaz Ahmed Shafi, IQ City, United World School of Business, Kolkata planted seedlings of several endemic, rare and endangered plant species like Nicobari Palm, Mango, Macaranga, Mallotus, Sterculia and many other saplings of trees.
Also Scientists, officers and staffs of this Regional Centre were actively participated.
Super Specialist Consultation Camp at G.B. Pant Hospital: A Step Towards Accessible Healthcare
Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 17: The Super Specialist Consultation Camp, organized at G.B. Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram, marked a significant milestone in providing specialized healthcare services to the people of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This initiative was a collaboration between Gleneagles Health City, Chennai, and Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi, under the guidance of the Health Department of Andaman & Nicobar Administration.
The camp commenced with an inaugural function graced by Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included Mr. Vikram Singh, DANICS,
Director of Education, Dr. Suja Antony, Director of the Directorate of Health Services and ANIIMS, Dr. Vivek Lal, Chief Operating Officer, Gleneagles Health City, Chennai, and Mr. Mandeep Grewal, Founder and President of Port Blair Guru Ki Rasoi.
Specialist services were offered in three key medical fields:
• Cardiology: Dr. Guru Prasad Sogunuru, Head of Cardiac Electrophysiology, Heart Failure & Device Therapies, attended to 59 cases.
• Nephrology: Dr. V. Balaraman, HOD & Senior Consultant, Nephrology, attended to 35 cases.
• Oncology: Dr. Narayanan R, Consultant Medical Oncology, attended to 50 cases.
The camp was a resounding success, meeting the critical healthcare needs of numerous patients and underscoring the vital importance of making specialist medical care accessible to the community.
Building on this momentum, Gleneagles Health City, Chennai, in collaboration with G.B. Pant Hospital, will continue to conduct monthly specialist camps in the coming months. This initiative reaffirms the commitment to ensuring that all islanders have consistent and reliable access to expert healthcare services right here in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
