Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 03: Mock drills of different Anti-Terrorist scenario were successfully conducted under GANDIV-VI, the annual National Counter Terror exercise of the NSGfrom 01st to 02ndOctober 2024 in Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.These mock drills were conducted in collaboration with various stakeholders,including the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, National Security Guard (NSG), Andaman and Nicobar Command, Indian Coast Guard, MARCOS, and the Andaman and Nicobar Police.
The exercise simulated various terrorist attack scenarios, including live bomb blasts, vehicle-borne IEDs, hostage situations and hijacking of vessel M.V. Sindhu. These drills were aimed at evaluating the readiness to respond and coordination between multiple agencies in case of complex terror-related incidents.
Key locations for the exercise included vital installations across Sri Vijayapuram, such as Gandhi Statue at Aberdeen Bazaar, Bathu Basti Parking, near Icy Spicy in Junglighat market, Sinclair Hotel, ISPW Secretariat, Cellular Jail, JNRM College, Veer Savarkar International Airport (VSI Airport), ISTRAC at Dollygunj, and Haddo Wharf.
The drills involved realistic scenarios, including controlled detonations and simulated attacks, offering participating agencies a hands-on opportunity to practice tactical operations, hostage rescue, and bomb disposal procedures. The hijacking of M.V. Sindhu involved a multi-agency response, demonstrating swift coordination between marine and land-based forces.
The exercise started at 12:00 Hrs on 1st October 2024 and concluded successfully at 09:00 Hrs on 02ndOctober 2024, reinforcing the operational preparedness of all the involved agencies and highlighting the importance of coordinated action in responding to potential threats.
The GANDIV-VI exercise demonstrated the high-level synergy between the participating agencies and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 03: In commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti, Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Sri Vijaypuram, in collaboration with the NSS wings of JNRM, ANCOL, and Andaman Law College, organized a mega cleanliness drive under the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ program at the Foreshore Road, Haddo, opposite Marine Police Station. The vulnerable shoreline area, often inundated with garbage brought in by sea currents, was the focus of the clean-up effort. Despite heavy rainfall earlier in the day, about 275 enthusiastic youth participated in this impactful initiative, contributing towards the preservation of the local environment.

The Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. During his interaction with the youth, he emphasized the crucial role they play in the development of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Mr. Ray encouraged the participants to share innovative ideas for the overall development of the Islands via WhatsApp, highlighting the importance of their active involvement in maintaining cleanliness and driving sustainable development for future generations.

Also present was Mr. Ravi Kr. Sinha, Under Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, who attended as the Guest of Honour and Observer from the Ministry. Addressing the participants, Mr. Sinha praised the youth for their dedication and stressed the critical need for maintaining cleanliness in coastal areas, which are highly susceptible to pollution from the sea. He also discussed the role of the Ministry in supporting youth-led initiatives that contribute to both environmental protection and the broader development of the Islands.

Earlier in the day, Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated at the JNRM Auditorium with a garlanding ceremony in honor of Mahatma Gandhi. Mr. Ravi Kr. Sinha presided over the event as the Chief Guest and spoke on the values of Gandhian philosophy, particularly the importance of cleanliness and self-reliance, which resonate deeply with the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign.

The event was also attended by Dr. Kandimuthu, State Programme Coordinator, NSS; Dr. N. J. Shastry, Assistant Professor, ANCOL; Dr. Jochibed Vincent, Programme Officer, NSS; Dr. Satya Prakash, Programme Officer, NSS JNRM; Dr. Ratna Kushwaha, Programme Officer, NSS JNRM; Mrs. Shibani Rajbhushan, Programme Officer, NSS JNRM; Mr. Raajiv, Programme Officer, NSS Andaman Law College, along with their teams of NSS volunteers.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 03: In line with its unwavering commitment to combat drug-related activities, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station with the assistance of Dog Squad, CID executed a targeted Anti-Narcotics operation on September 29, 2024.
Acting on specific intelligence, a police team from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, led by Inspector Pritam Behari (SHO), Anti-Narcotics PS, along with ASI Sanjay Yadow, PC Vishal Kumar, PC Nanak Singh, PC Ratan Das, PC M. Raja Rao, and LPC Nandita Mistry, conducted a successful operation. They were supported by PC Santosh Kr. Yadav, dog handler, and the Narcotics sniffer dog named ‘KASPER,’ under the supervision of Shri Vishesh Dhatterwal, DANIPS, Dy.SP, Narcotics.
During the operation, the team intercepted one person namely Md. Azeem S/o Shri Md. Nayeem Age 26 Yrs Pvt Worker, R/o 14 Mohan Chand Road, Khiddirpore, West Bengal Kolkata, who had arrived at Port Blair from Kolkata on 29/09/2024 by a flight of Indigo Airlines.
In this raid, a total of 2.055 Kgs of Ganja, which was clandestinely concealed in the bag, was seized from the accused and the said accused person was arrested on the spot after observing all codal formalities.
A case under relevant section of NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered at Anti-Narcotics Police Station and investigation is in progress.
The raid took place under the overall supervision of Shri Irshad Haider, IPS, SP (CID), A&N Islands.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 03: In a significant initiative to combat the illegal liquor trade, the PS Kalighat successfully executed a raid on 02/10/2024, at a residence of a bar owner in Kalighat. This operation led to the recovery of a substantial quantity of unlawfully stored alcohol.
Acting on confidential information, the dedicated team led by SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO, PS Kalighat and consisiting of HCs Ashok Sammadar, C.G Kindo, PCs Subrata Biswas, Manikandan, Abdul Sameer, and K.K Pandey. Their efforts resulted in the recovery of 61 bottles of 180ml, 4 bottles of 750ml, and 2 bottles of 375ml of IMFL, in addition to 5 bottles of beer, all of which were company sealed. Irregularities in storage and sales of liquor in a bar situated in Kalighat were also identified. Subsequently, the accused namely Nityanand Roy S/o Late S.C Roy R/o Kalighat has been issued notice 35(3) BNSS for further legal action against the accused and proceedings for cancellation of bar’s license has been initiated as per the Excise Regulations.
The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Ankesh Yadav DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur and overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.
The general public is requested to pass and share any credible information pertaining to any crime or illegal activities to their nearest police station or over phone No.100, 112 & 03192-273344. The identity of the informers will be kept secret and will also be suitably rewarded.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 03: In a bid to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness, the CRC A&N Islands, in collaboration with Ward Councillor Mr. Vetrivel( ward no19), organized a successful street cleaning drive in Garacharama as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 initiative.
The event took place on 2nd October 2024, bringing together volunteers, sanitary inspector, and staff members of CRC A&N Islands to work towards a cleaner and greener community. Participants enthusiastically engaged in various activities, including litter collection and the distribution of awareness materials about waste management and hygiene practices.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Vetrivel, Ward Counsellor, Prothrapur emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining cleanliness. “This initiative is not just about cleaning our streets; it’s about fostering a sense of responsibility among residents. When we take ownership of our environment, we create a healthier and more sustainable future for ourselves and our children,” In addition to cleaning activities, educational workshops were conducted to inform participants about the importance of recycling, waste segregation, and sustainable living practices.

Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 03: Along with other parts of the world, the Andaman & Nicobar State Committee of CITU has observed 3rd October, 2024 as “International Action Day” to celebrate the 79th Formation Day of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) by organizing a Seminar at Port Blair today (3.10.2024) afternoon which was attended by a large number of workers despite heavy rain. Every year, the WFTU observes 3rd October as the “International Action Day.” This year the WFTU has given a call to observe the Day, highlighting the demands of
• 35 hours of work per week without wage reduction
• Health and safety in workplaces
• Ensuring social security’s and access to universal systems of public healthcare and education
• Quality working and living environment
Speaking at the Seminar, B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU A & N State Committee criticized the central government for trying to take away the rights and benefits being enjoyed by the working class in India. He said that the passing of four Labour Codes to curtail the existing benefits and rights of the workers at the instance of corporates show the class affinity of the BJP and Sangh Parivar. He referred to the large-scale movements conducted by the workers in various parts of the country against the anti- labor policies of the rulers.
Addressing the participants in the Seminar, D. Ayyappan, Vice President, CITU State Committee said that crores of workers in the unorganized sector in the country are out of the social security schemes and no efforts are made to extend any benefits to this section of workers. He said that world over, workers are being exploited, their social security schemes are curtailed, their wages are reduced, against which massive resistance is organized in several parts of the world. He said that the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) is leading the workers in their fights against rulers. He said that during the regime of Modi, his friends in the corporate sector are thriving while the living condition of crores of workers is adversely affected.
SP Kalairajan, Secretary, CITU also addressed the participants in the Seminar, explaining the importance of the International Action Day. BC Bhattacharjee, Vice President, CITU State Committee presided over the Seminar. CITU leaders M. Boominathan, Anand Rajan and M. Yugander were present.

Director General of Health Services, Union Ministry of Health, Dr. Atul Goel praised the work being done by Mr. Rasheed in the remotest part of our country and felicitated both the Director’s of Ration Rasheed Foundation and highlighted the significance of voluntary blood donation in fostering a healthy and robust India. Dr. Megha Pravin Khobragade (ADG) MoHFW, GoI and Mr. Sudhanshu Pant (IAS), CHIEF SECRETARY, Rajasthan, Jaipur were also present during the Conclave.
