Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 26: On 25/09/2024, during the late-night hours, the Rangat Police conducted a swift and efficient operation, dismantling an illicit liquor manufacturing unit in Urmilapur, Bakultala, following credible information.
A team constituted by SI Madhab Halder, SHO PS Rangat and led by SI Manoj Lal, HC S.S. Das, PCs R.K. Yadav, and Mohd. Basheer was promptly formed. Upon arrival at the scene, the team apprehended two accused individuals and seized approximately 20 litres of illicit liquor along with Bhatti Articles and destroyed 06 Nos. iron tin containing around 90 litres of Lehan on the spot.
Further the same team gathered information and during a subsequent search of nearby areas, the team nabbed an individual in possession of 02 Nos. aluminium degchi having 10 kg of illicit Handia. The recovered Handia was seized, and the accused was apprehended after all formalities were observed. All the accused persons were served Notice U/S 35(3) BNSS, 2023 and cases were registered under relevant section of Excise Regulation.
The entire operation was carried out under the vigilant supervision of Mr. Rahul L Nair, IPS, SDPO Rangat, and the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.

District Administration Takes Swift Action to Seal Illegal Construction on Encroached Land at Brookshabad
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 26: In a decisive move to safeguard government land from unlawful encroachments, the District Administration, South Andaman has taken strict action in Brookshabad village under Sri Vijaya Puram Tehsil.
A fresh encroachment attempt was made by way of construction of a semi-RCC structure on a portion of government land. In response, revenue officials swiftly intervened to prevent any further unauthorized development and maintain the status quo of the area. The semi-RCC structure has been sealed to safeguard public property and put an immediate stop to the ongoing illegal activity on the site.
The District Administration reiterates its zero-tolerance policy towards land encroachment and illegal constructions. Field functionaries are on high alert, conducting regular inspections to ensure that no further encroachments occur in the area.
The public is urged to refrain from engaging in any unlawful occupation or construction on government land. Strict action will be taken against violators, including legal consequences. The District Administration remains committed to protecting public property and ensuring compliance with the law.
The District Administration calls upon the public to respect government property and strictly warns that any future attempts at encroachment will attract severe legal consequences.

Kalighat Police Busts Illicit Liquor Brewing Operation in Srinagar
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 26: In a swift and efficient operation carried out on 24/09/2024 against illegal liquor activities, the Kalighat Police team conducted a jungle search in the dense forest area of Srinagar near the residence of Amenta Dakua.
Acting promptly on a tip, SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO, PS Kalighat formed a specialized team consisting of SI M.J Indrajit, I/c OP Kishorinagar, PCs Ripon Mistry, Mary and Irenious. During the search, the team discovered a concealed location being used for brewing illicit liquor. The team recovered 60 litres of Lehan and timber materials used in the production process. These materials were clandestinely hidden within the jungle. Subsequently, all confiscated items were promptly destroyed, dealing a major blow to the illegal liquor manufacturing network.
Following this, the team conducted a search beside the house of Amenta Dakua, S/o Mukanda Dakua (48yrs), a Private Worker R/o near GEL Church, Srinagar. The search led to the recovery of 5.2 liters of illicit liquor. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Excise Regulation.

Deadline Extended for Ration Card Beneficiaries to Update e-KYC
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 26: The Department of CS &CA has extended the last date for updating e-KYC for the left out Ration Card beneficiaries upto 31.07.2024. However, it is noticed that in spite of repeated request and all possible effort, there are considerable number of (APL, AAY & PHH) beneficiaries who have not yet approached their Fair Price Shops or the Department of CS&CA or respective Supply Units functioning in the inter Islands for updating their e-KYC.
Hence, all those left out Ration Card beneficiaries (APL, AAY & PHH) who have not yet updated their e-KYC due to whatsoever reason have once again been requested to contact any of their nearest Fair Price Shop along with their Aadhaar numbers to get e-KYC done latest by 31.10.2024 for all the members listed in the Ration Card, failing which, such members of the Ration Card shall be considered bogus and action shall be taken as per the relevant rules.
The Ration Card beneficiaries can also approach the Directorate of CS&CA, Sri Vijay Puram at Room No. 20 or their respective Supply Units for updating their e-KYC. The list of left out beneficiaries has been made available in their respective fair price shops also for information.
Further, it is reported that considerable number of AAY & PHH children members between the age of 01 to 17 years are not able to complete their e-KYC as their Aadhaar enrolment was done before the age of 5 years. All such beneficiaries have been requested to update their Aadhaar in the nearest Enrolment Centers immediately. The Department of CS&CA is organizing Aadhaar Camps continuously. The 67th Police Constable Batch of A&N Police once again at social service
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 26: “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.” On September 25, 2024, the 67th Police Constable Batch of the Andaman and Nicobar Police donated a substantial amount of Rs. 57,000/- (Fifty-Seven Thousand Rupees Only) towards the treatment of a woman who was involved in a tragic accident on VIP Road near Police Line area, where she lost her elder daughter and her infant in the womb. Her treatment is currently underway at G.B. Pant Hospital in Sri Vijayapuram, and she will be going to Chennai for further care. After speaking with her family members, they expressed, “You have come like gods and helped our family; God bless you all.”

Ayushman Pakhwada: Orientation on Ayushman Bharat for Medical Students Held in A&N Islands
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 26: Ayushman Pakhwada is being observed from September 20 to 30, 2024 to mark 6 years of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and 3 years of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). As part of the observance, an orientation session was organized by the State Health Agency, A&N Islands for the students of 3rd Year MBBS Part-I (batch –2021), Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences, A & N Islands.
The orientation session was led by Dr. P Lal, Nodal Officer, State Health Agency, A & N Islands who sensitized the students about the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The Nodal Officer explained the benefits, eligibility criteria and operational aspects of the AB-PMJAY scheme. In addition, he enlightened the students about the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The students were encouraged to download the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) app and create an ABHA card for themselves and their family members. He also exhorted the students to disseminate information regarding both the schemes with their friends & relatives and within their community.
Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign: Gram Panchayat Laxminagar Transforms Waste Into Art
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 26: The Directorate of Rural Development (RD), PRIs, and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of A&N Administration under Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign 2024 is conducting various IEC activities in Gram Panchayat and Blocks in collaboration with all Line Department of the UT of A&N Islands.
