Port Blair, Sep 11: RED RUN, a State Level Marathon of 5 Kms for the College students and General Public was organized by Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) as directed by National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), MoHFW, GoI.on 11th September 2024 from Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Stadium to Mazaar Pahad and back. The marathon was organized to create awareness on HIV&AIDS. The marathon was for the college students and was open for the general public.
Ms. N. Nikita, well known cyclist from A & N Islands flagged off the Red Run. Her presence in the event motivated the participants. The Red Run was organized under the guidance of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, ANACS. Before the start of the marathon, participants were informed on various aspects of HIV & AIDS.
Mr. Sagar Baral from Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkiye Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) won 1st position, Mr. N. Jeevan Rao from Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Car Nicobar won 2nd position, Mr. Anand Kumar from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT) won 3rd position among the male category of College students.
Ms. Sampa Das from Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkiye Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) won 1st position, Ms. Mausumi Howlader from Dr. S. Radhakrishnan District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) won 2nd position, Ms.Pipasha from Andaman & Nicobar Islands Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIIMS) won 3rd position among the female category of College students. Mr. Asim Kujur won 1st position, P.Pradosh Chinmay Raj won 2nd position, Mr.K.Harish won 3rd position among the male category of General Public. Ms. Rinki Kumari won 1st position, Ms. P. Alagammal won 2nd position and Ms. V.Anjali won 3rd position among the female category of General Public.
For the College level, the competition was conducted at various levels. The winners from each college from all the three districts of A&N Islands participated in this State Level Marathon. Students from ANCOL, Andaman Law College, ANIIMS, DBRAIT, DIET, ITI Dollygunj, JNRM, Pondicherry University Brookshabad, TGCE, Govt. Polytechnic Diglipur, Mahatma Gandhi Government College, Mayabunder and ITI Car Nicobar.
