Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 19: Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) along with Blood Center, G. B. Pant Hospital, Directorate of Health Services, supported to TCI SEAWAYS to organize a blood donation camp at TCI Seaways, Sri Vijaya Puram on 16/09/2024. Altogether 30 units of blood were donated by the voluntary donors.
The camp was organized under the guidance of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society and Director, State Blood Transfusion Council, A & N Islands.
The Blood Donation camp was facilitated by the Dr. Shilpa Vijay Sankhe Medical Officer (Blood Bank), ANIIMS, G.B. Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram. The donors were examined for their eligibility to donate blood and briefed the donors on various aspect and importance of blood donation.
Mr. P.S. Rathore, AVP Operator, TCI Seaways, Sri Vijaya Puram organized a blood donation camp and made arrangement for conducting the camp successfully.
The technical team from Blood Center, G.B. Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram and A & N AIDS Control Society ensured that the donated blood units are screened for the transfusion transmissible diseases. They also examined the donors for eligibility criteria.
Donors certificate were also distributed to the voluntary donors.

Mass Plantation Drive Conducted in Harinagar under ‘Swachta ki Bhagidari’ Initiative

Harinagar/Diglipur, Sept. 19: Shri Manojit Halder Pradhan GP Harinagar conducted a mass plantation Drive under the event of Swachta ki Bhagidari (Ek Ped Maa ke Naam) in collaboration with PHC Billiground and GPS Harinagar (BM) in presence of Mr. Samir, Medical officer, Shri. Dilip Kumar Das, PSM, Smti. Mamta Biswas, Up-Pradhan, GP Harinagar, PRI Members, Panchayat Secretary, Gram Rozgar sewak, Panchayat staff and villagers of the GP yesterday.
The event was conducted in the campuses of PHC Billiground and Govt. Primary School Harinagar (BM) campus.
Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 by BSI
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 19: As a part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2024, Botanical Survey of India initiated a special cleaning drive in the islands from the campus of Science Centre Sri Vijaya Puram under the leadership of Addl. Director & Regional Head Dr. Lal Singh. The Campaign was coordinated by Mr. Debashis Paul, Education Coordinator, Science Centre, Sri Vijaya Puram and all the members of Science Centre actively participated.
Dr. Singh emphasized the important role of participation of every person in the Swachhata Abhiyan and discharging the responsibilities, he said that a healthy body develops only in a clean environment and a healthy mind develops only in a healthy body. Only a person with a healthy mind is able to ensure his contribution in the development of himself, society and a prosperous nation and only then is it possible to live in a clean, balanced environment.
National Minimum Standards for Creches Issued to Enhance Women Workforce Participation
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 19: The Ministry of Women & Child Development, GoI circulated National Minimum Standards and Protocol for Creches (Operation & Management) for the active participation and leadership of women which are vital for women in labor force participation. The institutionalization of care services is crucial for enhancing female workforce participation.
Suggestive standards and protocol have been formulated for setting up Creches by any Individual/ Service Agencies/ Corporations/ Companies/ Universities/ Hospitals/ Care Service Providers/Government Organizations/Non-Governmental Organizations, etc., addressing the minimum essential requirements. These standards and protocol aim to provide comprehensive childcare in a safe and secure environment, fostering the overall development of children.
Additional facilities may be incorporated to further enhance the well-being of children. State Governments and UT Administrations have also been advised to adopt these standards and protocols for setting up and managing Creches.
Accordingly, Ministry of Women and Child Development, GoI has issued comprehensive Minimum Standards for establishing Creches. The concerned individual or organization, who are operating Creches shall download ‘the National Minimum Standard and Protocol for Creches’ from the Ministry’s website: wcd.nic.in for necessary action.
Sailing of MV Campbell Bay to Little Andaman Cancelled, Alternative Vessel Sindhu Scheduled
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 19: Passengers/general public have been informed that due to technical reasons, the scheduled sailing programme of MV Campbell Bay to Little Andaman on Sept. 20 & 22, 2024 has been cancelled. Passengers those who are holding the tickets of MV Campbell Bay have been advised to cancel their tickets and get full refund.
However, to facilitate the commuters, the Directorate of Shipping Services has scheduled the vessel Sindhu to sail for Little Andaman as per the schedule tabulated below:

1st Anniversary of PM Vishwakarma Scheme to Be Celebrated Nationwide Tomorrow
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 19: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), GoI will be celebrating the 1st Anniversary of PM Vishwakarma Scheme tomorrow (Sept.20). The PM Vishwakarma scheme was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 17th September, 2023 and the scheme aims at upskilling the Vishwakarmas with the knowledge of modern tools and techniques coupled with credit support for expanding their business with the objective of bringing Samman, Samarthya and Samriddhi to the Vishwakarmas. As on 12th September, 2024, under the Basic Skill Training Component, a total of 8,30,678 Vishwakarmas have been trained under the scheme.
As part of the celebration, a mega event has been planned at Wardha, Maharashtra tomorrow (Sept. 20) which will be graced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. A total of 500 Centres have been shortlisted on pan India basis where the event at Wardha will be live telecast.
The UT Administration of Andaman & Nicobar Islands will also join in the celebration at a programme to be organized at Dr. B.R.Ambedkar Auditorium, Dollygunj, Sri Vijaya Puram on Sept.20, 2024 from 11 am onwards. Shri Narendra Modi ji, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India will virtually (through Video Conferencing) attend the mega event.
Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration and other dignitaries will also grace the occasion.
PAHAL Plus Training Program for Teachers Held to Improve Learning Outcomes in A&N Islands
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 19: A one-day training programme on PAHAL Plus (Plan for Attaining Holistic Learning & Achieving Learning Outcomes), an initiative for improvement of learning outcomes for the teachers of South Andaman and Wimberlygunj Zone was held in the Auditorium of GSSS Girls here today. The State Institute of Education (SIE), Shiksha Sadan organized the training which was inaugurated by the Director of Education, Shri Aditya Kumar Jha as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director laid emphasis on the importance of training programme for teachers to keep their knowledge updated. He further emphasized on improving the quality of education and focusing on achieving learning outcomes and motivated teachers to give their best for upliftment of education in these Islands. He added that PAHAL Plus is a platform where teachers are able to assess the attainment of learning outcomes of their students and plan accordingly to fill the learning gaps. He also said that PAHAL Plus programme is based on smart digital technology and student centric and this initiative will improve the learning outcome of students studying in Govt. Schools of A&N Islands.
In her welcome address, the Principal State Institute of Education, Smt. Sangeeta Chand said that PAHAL Plus initiative is to monitor the progress of students learning outcome and remedial measures of teachers. To mitigate the learning gap, the State Institute of Education has mapped the learning outcome with the textbooks, developed content-wise question bank, introduced mentor mentee system and provided remedial teaching module to facilitate remedial teaching, she added.
During the training, resource persons from SIE covered topics such as Introduction on PAHAL Plus initiative, PAHAL Plus portal & Data Standard Operating Procedure of PAHAL Plus, Learning outcomes integrated with PAHAL Plus, Structure of Question Paper Remedial Measures – Role of Subject Teacher, Monitoring of Assessments etc. Altogether, 267 teachers including Heads of Institutions of South Andaman and Wimberlygunj Zone attended the training.
At the end of the training programme, a question answer & feedback session was also organized during which the teachers clarified their doubts and provided feedback about the training. The programme came to an end with the vote of thanks by Shri Johnson P John.
Bar and POL Owners in A&N Islands Directed to Comply with VAT Rules to Avoid Penalties
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 19:It has been observed that some Bar Owners and POL (Petroleum, Oil & Lubricant) Owners are not remitting their Value Added Tax (VAT) on a monthly basis within the due dates as notified vide F.No.l-1/DC (SA)/VAT (PF)/2017-18/5974 dated 31st December, 2020 issued by the Commissioner (VAT), A & N Islands. This non-compliance constitutes a gross violation of VAT Rules and results in a significant loss to the Government exchequer.
Therefore, all Bar Owners and POL Owners have been once again directed to strictly comply with the due dates as per the aforementioned notification provided as under:

This directive is issued in the interest of maintaining proper tax compliance and ensuring the financial health of the Government exchequer.
Business Entities Advised on LPG Safety Measures to Prevent Accidents
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 19:Taking into account of LPG Consumer’s safety and prevention of any accidents at Marriage Halls/Restaurants/Eateries & other Commercial Establishment, all such business entities have been advised to take adequate precautions during handling of LPG cylinders including use of standard commercial hose and stove as per ISI standard specification, which would immensely boost to avert any untoward incident.
As per guidelines, the business entities involved in diversion of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purpose is a punishable offence, failing which, stern action as deemed fit as per extant Rules will be initiated against such commercial establishment.
