Rabindra Nagar/Diglipur, Sept. 19: The residents of Rabindra Nagar under Gram Panchayat Rabindra Nagar, Little Andaman have decried failure of authorities to undertake repairs of a dilapidated rural road in the locality.
According to information, the Rural Road from Masjid Chowk to Vishnu Nallah at Rabindra Nagar under Gram Panchayat Rabindra Nagar, Little Andaman, has deteriorated significantly, causing immense hardship for residents and vehicle owners alike. The residents of the area said that several patches of the road are lying dangerously strewn with potholes and are becoming awfully unsafe for the residents and motorists for the last 9-10 years.
Andaman Sheekha Daily when contacted the Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Rabindra Nagar and wanted to know more about road in question, she admitted that parts of the road especially in Vishnu Nallah area are in rundown condition and it has become a source of inconveniences for pregnant women, children, students and elderly and also for the motorists. The road is under APWD and requires to be repaired in PMSY-3, she further informed.
Amid this, the denizens of the locality have made an urgent appeal to the authorities for swift action. They request immediate intervention and necessary directions for repairing and upgrading the road to ensure smooth traffic flow as life is precious.

Master Jaishish Shines in Muaythai, Secures Bronze at IFMA Youth World Championship
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 19: Master jaishish, a resident of school line, s/o venkat lav kumar and purnima mohan, trained Muaythai under N jagadeka varma at Champions zone muaythai and MMA club, he has shown exceptional skills in Muaythai and secured gold in Muaythai National held in Chennai (2023) , and Assam(2024). He was selected to represent India in the IFMA youth world championship which was held at Bangkok, Thailand. Master Jaishish took part in -44 kgs category under 10 to 11 Age, he has shown exceptional skills and secured a bronze medal for team India. He is the first islander to take part in Muaythai World championships and to secure a medal.
First-ever Senior National Arbiters Seminar & Exam in Port Blair on 12th & 13th October 2024
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 19: On Behalf of All India Chess Federation (AICF), the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA) will host the first-ever Senior National Arbiters Seminar & Examination in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 12th and 13th October 2024 at Hotel TSG Grand, Dolly Gunj, Port Blair.
This seminar is a great opportunity for chess enthusiasts to become certified arbiters and strengthen the local arbiter team in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The fee for the seminar and examination is Rs. 4000/-, payable online through the AICF website at https://aicf.in/other-payments/. Participants must complete the Google Form at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1EzunDlBOVLMuC_w1_95R-P4OO6eKCZ_FyT9vnn7iifA only after making the payment, as the Order ID is required during registration.

Massive Procession Organizes by Paschimsagar Unit of AIKS Demands Land Allotment for Landless Villagers
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 19: Paschimsagar Unit of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) organised a massive procession at Pashcimsagar Gram Panchayat area in North Andaman on 18th September, 2024, demanding settlement of the demand of the villagers to allot land to all the landless villagers. The procession which began from Talbaghan proceeded to Paschimsagar and concluded in front of the Gram Panchayat office.
Addressing the participants in the mass procession, Dr Gouranga Majhi, President, A & N State Committee of All India Kisan Sabha criticized the BJP government at the centre for not considering the demands of the villagers of North Andaman on land issues. He said that implementation of the Supreme Court judgement of 2022 should be preceded by a comprehensive package for the family members who were living in the Forest land prior to 1978 and post 1978. Speaking on the occasion, SR Mridha, Secretary, AIKS, A & N State Committee said that during the last 50- 55 years, members of the families which occupied the Forest land and constructed shelters are increased and displacing such expanded family members and dispossessing the land held by them are unjustified and demanded that the expanded families should be allotted land at the same place where they lived during the last five decades and more. Nikunjo Biswas, Vice President, AIKS State Committee said that the Kisan Sanch will continue to resort to agitations in North and Middle Andaman District demanding justified settlement of land issues of farmers. Addressing the programme, Sunil Bepari, President, CITU Diglipur Zonal Committee blamed the successive governments at the centre for not settling the land issues in the entire North Andaman. Dilip Karmakar, Joint Secretary, AIKS, Bhupathi Ray, President and Suresh Chakidar, Secretary of Paschimsagar Unit and Banomali Sarkar led the mass procession. Unmindful of the heavy rain in the area, several hundreds of farmers from Paschimsagar and Talbaghan areas, including a large number of women, participated in the procession.
Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, SA Conducts Inspection of Boats under UT Plan Scheme
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 19: The Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman Mrs. M Rajani conducted a thorough inspection of Boats constructed under UT Plan Scheme “Subsidy for construction/purchase of new motorized/mechanized fishing Boats” through Zilla Parishad, South Andaman at Marine Dockyard, Aberdeen Bazar Sri Vijayapuram along with Mr. Amala Theedan, Assistant Director (Fisheries), Mr. Xavier, AFDO/ZP,SA and Assistant Director (Admn.), ZP.
During the inspection, the builder of the boats showcased the completed vessels, as well as those under construction, highlighting the various stages of completion. The fishermen present during the inspection requested that the Adhyaksha consider revising the specifications in the guidelines to include flat- bottomed boats, which would be more suitable for their needs. Further, the fisherman requested Adhyaksha/ZP/SA to release the subsidy at the earliest. The Adhyaksha assured and directed concerned officials to take necessary measures to release the subsidy amount as soon as possible.
Voluntary Blood Donation Camp at TCI Seaways, Junglighat, Sri Vijaya Puram on 16/09/2024
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 19: Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) along with Blood Center, G. B. Pant Hospital, Directorate of Health Services, supported to TCI SEAWAYS to organize a blood donation camp at TCI Seaways, Sri Vijaya Puram on 16/09/2024. Altogether 30 units of blood were donated by the voluntary donors.
The camp was organized under the guidance of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society and Director, State Blood Transfusion Council, A & N Islands.
The Blood Donation camp was facilitated by the Dr. Shilpa Vijay Sankhe Medical Officer (Blood Bank), ANIIMS, G.B. Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram. The donors were examined for their eligibility to donate blood and briefed the donors on various aspect and importance of blood donation.
Mr. P.S. Rathore, AVP Operator, TCI Seaways, Sri Vijaya Puram organized a blood donation camp and made arrangement for conducting the camp successfully.
The technical team from Blood Center, G.B. Pant Hospital, Sri Vijaya Puram and A & N AIDS Control Society ensured that the donated blood units are screened for the transfusion transmissible diseases. They also examined the donors for eligibility criteria.
Donors certificate were also distributed to the voluntary donors.
Mass Plantation Drive Conducted in Harinagar under ‘Swachta ki Bhagidari’ Initiative

Harinagar/Diglipur, Sept. 19: Shri Manojit Halder Pradhan GP Harinagar conducted a mass plantation Drive under the event of Swachta ki Bhagidari (Ek Ped Maa ke Naam) in collaboration with PHC Billiground and GPS Harinagar (BM) in presence of Mr. Samir, Medical officer, Shri. Dilip Kumar Das, PSM, Smti. Mamta Biswas, Up-Pradhan, GP Harinagar, PRI Members, Panchayat Secretary, Gram Rozgar sewak, Panchayat staff and villagers of the GP yesterday.
The event was conducted in the campuses of PHC Billiground and Govt. Primary School Harinagar (BM) campus.
Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 by BSI
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 19: As a part of Swachhata Hi Seva 2024, Botanical Survey of India initiated a special cleaning drive in the islands from the campus of Science Centre Sri Vijaya Puram under the leadership of Addl. Director & Regional Head Dr. Lal Singh. The Campaign was coordinated by Mr. Debashis Paul, Education Coordinator, Science Centre, Sri Vijaya Puram and all the members of Science Centre actively participated.
Dr. Singh emphasized the important role of participation of every person in the Swachhata Abhiyan and discharging the responsibilities, he said that a healthy body develops only in a clean environment and a healthy mind develops only in a healthy body. Only a person with a healthy mind is able to ensure his contribution in the development of himself, society and a prosperous nation and only then is it possible to live in a clean, balanced environment.
National Minimum Standards for Creches Issued to Enhance Women Workforce Participation
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 19: The Ministry of Women & Child Development, GoI circulated National Minimum Standards and Protocol for Creches (Operation & Management) for the active participation and leadership of women which are vital for women in labor force participation. The institutionalization of care services is crucial for enhancing female workforce participation.
Suggestive standards and protocol have been formulated for setting up Creches by any Individual/ Service Agencies/ Corporations/ Companies/ Universities/ Hospitals/ Care Service Providers/Government Organizations/Non-Governmental Organizations, etc., addressing the minimum essential requirements. These standards and protocol aim to provide comprehensive childcare in a safe and secure environment, fostering the overall development of children.
Additional facilities may be incorporated to further enhance the well-being of children. State Governments and UT Administrations have also been advised to adopt these standards and protocols for setting up and managing Creches.
Accordingly, Ministry of Women and Child Development, GoI has issued comprehensive Minimum Standards for establishing Creches. The concerned individual or organization, who are operating Creches shall download ‘the National Minimum Standard and Protocol for Creches’ from the Ministry’s website: wcd.nic.in for necessary action.
Sailing of MV Campbell Bay to Little Andaman Cancelled, Alternative Vessel Sindhu Scheduled
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 19: Passengers/general public have been informed that due to technical reasons, the scheduled sailing programme of MV Campbell Bay to Little Andaman on Sept. 20 & 22, 2024 has been cancelled. Passengers those who are holding the tickets of MV Campbell Bay have been advised to cancel their tickets and get full refund.
However, to facilitate the commuters, the Directorate of Shipping Services has scheduled the vessel Sindhu to sail for Little Andaman as per the schedule tabulated below:
