Port Blair, Aug 05: Due to Technical reasons the scheduled departure time of the vessel Sindhu for Campbell Bay via Nancowry on 06.08.2024 at 0900 Hrs from Haddo Wharf has been postponed. Now the vessel will sail for Campbell Bay via Nancowry on the same day at 1400 Hrs instead of 0900 Hrs from Haddo Wharf. Inconvenience caused to the passenger is deeply regretted.

GSSS Subashgram Triumphs in Inter-School Zonal Football Tournament Final

Diglipur, Aug 05: On 03rd of August, 2024, the final match (Closing Ceremony) of Inter School Zonal Level Knock-out Football Tournament 2024-25 for Under-19 Yrs (Boys) was held at Vivekananda Stadium, Diglipur.
Mr. Rajender Kumar, Block Development Officer, Diglipur was the Chief Guest and Mr. P.R. Singaram, Pradhan-Gram Panchayat Subashgram was the Guest of honour accompanied by Smti. Sulochana, Deputy Education Officer, Diglipur. The Chief Guest was welcomed by the officials and Physical Education Teachers of Diglipur Educational Zone. They then interacted with the players of both teams and match officials and handed over the match ball to the referee. The match started at 09:40 a.m. between the team of GSSS Diglipur V/s GSSS Subashgram. It was an exciting match which concluded with the victory of GSSS Subashgram by (4-0).
After that the prize was distributed to the players (Winner & Runner-up) Under-14 yrs (Boys), Under-17yrs (Girls) & Under-19 yrs (Boys) by the Chief Guest.
At the end, DEO, Diglipur zone, delivered an inspiring speech praising the football match and encouraging the budding football aspirants to focus on their practice. She wished them well for upcoming competitions in Port Blair.

Port Blair, Aug 05: Mr. M.Vinod, President Andaman Association Of Tour Operators and State Vice President, BJP has deeply mourned the Sudden and untimely demise of Mr. Arun Kumar Goenka , Aged 71, years expired today morning at around 9:15 am at GB Pant Hospital Mr. Arun Kumar Goenka is the father of Mr. Amit Goenka and Mr. Sumit Goenka of Goenka’s Group, A&N Islands.
Mr. M Vinod has prayed to the almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give courage and strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Experiential Learning Programme Launched by Nehru Yuva Kendra and Community Health Centre in Diglipur
Port Blair, Aug 05: An ‘Experiential Learning Programme’ is being organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Diglipur in collaboration with Community Health Centre Diglipur. The programme has been inaugurated by the Chief Guest – Dr. Siddharaju, Chief Medical Office, CHC, Diglipur in presence of Dr. Shipra Mistry (AYUSH), Diglipur Mr. Sukharanjan Biswas, Deputy Director, NYK, Diglipur at 10:30 a.m. on 05.08.2024 at CHC, Diglipur. Duration of the programme will be 2 months for each batch.
During the Learning programme participants will learn various medical services through serving patients by assisting medical staff in Causality, entry and issue in OPD, Dressing Antenatal Care for women, etc. They also help senior citizens to get medical services.

Exposure visit of School Students to Child Helpline 1098, WCD Control Room at VIP Road
Port Blair, Aug 05: The Child Helpline 1098 under the Directorate of Social Welfare. Childhelpline organized an awareness programme cum visit to WCD control room for various schools Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Nirmala Sr. Sec. School, Govt. Rabindra Bangla Vidyalaya, GSS Dairy Farm School has successfully visited the control room Child Helpline, VIP Road. The department has started an initiative to conduct a series of awareness programs & exposure visits in a phase wise manner to WCD control rooms to educate school students about the critical services provided by Child helpline. The session was inaugurated by Mrs. Beena Das, Helpline Administrator (CHL).
The Child Helpline 1098 is a 24 hour, emergency toll free phone service for children in need of care and protection. It is a project of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India (Gol).The Childhelpline under Mission Vatsalya Scheme integration with the Emergency Response Support System 112(ERRS-112).
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director of Social Welfare, emphasized the significance of such programs in enhancing awareness among children. He gives importance to providing a dedicated helpline for children in need and addressing issues such as abuse, neglect and exploitation. The Child helpline 1098 serves as a vital lifeline for children in need and it is essential that they are aware of how to reach out for support.
The visit included an insightful session where the P.Lily, Lalita Kujur, Susheela Bage, Anandini Beek, (Call Operators) & Arati Lakra (IT Supervisor) provided orientation on WCD functions & discussed about the various services being provided under this scheme and demonstrated students through a demo call and the workings and significance of the helpline. They provided a comprehensive overview of how Childhelpline operates and the key role it plays in safeguarding the well-being of children in our society.
Any child facing any problem/issue can dial the Child Helpline-1098 toll free number, which operates day and night (24X7) service provided. Child helpline works for the protection of rights of all children. It is an initiative for rescuing and assisting children in distress. The Particular focus is on all children in need of care and protection, especially the more vulnerable sections, including: Victims of child sexual abuse.
The event concluded with a Question and Answer session where students participated enthusiastically and got clarified with doubts about the services offered by child helpline 1098.

Mr. Arun Goenka departed for his heavenly abode today, 5th August 2024, at G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair. Mr. Jolly extends his heartfelt condolences and prays for the eternal peace of the departed soul. He also prays to the Almighty to give strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss. The funeral procession will commence from his residence on Tuesday, 6th August 2024, at 11 AM.
