Port Blair, Jun 16: On 15.06.2024, Police Station Humfrygunj received a call reporting a murder at Dhanikhari. The Humfrygunj Police swiftly responded to the complaint formed a dedicated team comprising SI G. Mohan Rao, SHO PS Humfrygunj along with ASI R.C. Singh and other Police Station staff. They rushed to the scene and found the lifeless body of a resident of Chouldari.
An eye witness identified the accused as Veera Kumar, who attacked with a ‘Dah’ after a confrontation. The accused fled from the scene and made extensive efforts to hide but was apprehended within three hours by the dedicated police team of the South Andaman District. An FIR was registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Humfrygunj and the crime scene was documented. Additionally, 04 individuals who harbored the accused and attempted to destroy evidence were also arrested. Further investigation is in progress.
As per sources the accused used to work as driver of the victim, who was removed from job and subsequently there used to be regular confrontations among them. As per details similar confrontation between the two on 15.06.2024, resulted in this incident.
The swift response and commitment of the police team led by SDPO Bambooflat under the overall supervision of the Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District have commendably demonstrated exceptional law enforcement excellence.

Rape and Murder case of a minor girl of North Andaman

Port Blair, June 16: A suspected rape and murder case has been registered at PS Kalighat in which a 13 year girl of North Andaman has been reportedly murdered after rape on 12 June 2024. The body of the victim has been recovered from Kalapahad jungle or North Andaman.
As per details one 23 year old youth of the area who is suspected to be the prime accused was absconding since the incident. As per unconfirmed reports the prime accused believed to have committed suicide and his body was found yesterday from Kalapahad Jungle. One more youth has been picked up by police team and further investigation is in progress. Meanwhile, no senior officers of N & M Andaman police unit were available for a comment in this case. Further details are awaited.

Andaman & Nicobar Fire and Emergency Services to Strengthen Workforce with New Recruitment Drive
Port Blair, Jun 16: The Andaman & Nicobar Fire and Emergency Services is excited to announce a major development that will significantly enhance our operational capacity and service delivery. After a prolonged moratorium since 2008, the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, has officially approved the recruitment of new Police Constables (Fireman) and Police Constables (Driver).
This approval, detailed in letter dated 14 June 2024, allows for the filling of 51 vacant posts for Police Constable (Fireman) and 11 vacant posts for Police Constable (Driver) that have been lying vacant for less than five years. This pivotal decision marks a crucial step in addressing the personnel shortage that has impacted the service efficiency.
The Andaman & Nicobar Fire and Emergency Services, with a sanctioned strength of 336 Police Constables (Fireman) and 77 Police Constables (Driver), will greatly benefit from this recruitment. It will ensure that we are fully equipped to respond to emergencies and safeguard the well-being of the residents across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Under the able leadership of the DGP, A&N Islands Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, the Fire & Emergency Services is scaling new heights with the team of dedicated and sincere professionals. Financial Assistance Provided to Flood Victims in Diglipur Sub-Division
Port Blair, Jun 16: To address the damage caused by heavy rain and flooding in the Diglipur Sub-Division on June 11, 2024, the District Administration of North and Middle Andaman today provided financial assistance under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF). The aid was distributed during an event held at the Conference Hall, GPOA Building, Diglipur.
The function was attended by Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament as chief guest. Mr. Dilkush Meena, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman was the guest of honour. Mr. Aditya Kumar Asthana, Assistant Commissioner of Diglipur, PRI Members, Revenue Officials and flood victims from the Diglipur Sub-Division were present on the occasion.
The chief guest, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, along with the guest of honor, Mr. Dilkush Meena and PRI members, handed over the sanctioned amount of Rs. 5,37,488/- to 117 flood victims.
Speaking on this occasion, the Member of Parliament commended the District Administration for the timely disbursement of financial assistance to the flood victims. He lauded the efforts to provide prompt support to those affected by the disaster.
Highlighting the steps taken during the disaster, Mr. Dilkush Meena, explained that the Emergency Operation Center was activated immediately and rescue operations commenced in the flood-affected areas. Relief shelters were opened and flood victims were relocated to these shelters. Following the flood, a Damage Assessment Committee conducted surveys to evaluate the damage caused by the rain and flood. Based on the Committee’s recommendations, Rs. 5,37,488/- was disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the flood victims.

Illegal Sawn Padauk Timbers Seizes and Three Persons Apprehended by PS C&EO
Port Blair, Jun 16: On 15/06/2024, acting on a specific intelligence input from a reliable source, a team consisting of SI Parvash, HC/733 Sanjit Madhu, and HC/264 Sanjay Kujur, HC/1713 K. Venkateshwar Rao, PC/1143 K Rajendran & PC/1067 N. Thangaraj apprehended three persons, namely Sulyman Madke S/o Niral Marki (34) yrs, Pvt. Driver R/o Mayabunder, Husil Minj S/o Mr. Zakarias Minj (25) yrs, Co-Driver R/o Mayabunder, and M. Vijay S/o Mr. P. Mutturamalingam (28) yrs, Pvt. Labour R/o Rest Camp, Mayabunder, with 32 pieces measuring 1.100 cbm of illegal sawn padauk timber of different sizes and a vehicle bearing registration No AN01 R 5401 from Sippighat Junction. Padauk timbers were seized, and the accused persons were detained after following due procedure.
Detained persons along with seized articles were handed over to officials of Forest Department, Garacharma Range for further necessary action. The general public is requested to inform about any credible information pertaining to any kind of illegal activity on the following telephone numbers- 100, 232586, 233307, 9434280100. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
TSG Charitable Foundation distributes Nutritional Kits to TB patients
Port Blair, Jun 16: TSG Charitable Foundation distributed nutritional kits to 22 tuberculosis patients undergoing treatment in PHC Shadipur, PHC Delanipur and PHC Dairy Farm.
The initiative aimed to provide essential nutritional support to the patients and ensure that they receive continuous support during their treatment process.
The nutritional kits were handed over by Mr. TSG Bhasker, Chairman, TSG Charitable Foundation to the patients in the presence of Mr. Sebastian Tirkey, Social Worker and Mr. Ameer Bax, Programme Coordinator, TSG Charitable Foundation.
The presence of medical professionals during the programme added value to the initiative. The distribution of nutritional kits will undoubtedly make a positive impact on the health and well-being of the tuberculosis patients.
