PS Kaligaht Seized Significant Quantity of Illicit Liquor from Dense Jungle of Parangara Village
Port Blair, Mar. 29:In a swift and efficient operation carried out on 29/03/2024, the Kalighat Police successfully confiscated a significant quantity of illicit liquor at dense forest, near Parangara Village.
Acting promptly on a tip, SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO, PS Kalighat formed a specialized team consisting of ASI Mukesh Charan, I/c OP Kishorinagar, PCs Ripon Mistry and Irenious. The proactive team successfully seized a significant quantity of 07 liters of illicit liquor, and 120 litres of Lehan along with various Bhatti article & utensils used in the production process of illicit liquor. These materials were clandestinely hidden within the jungle. Subsequently, 120 litres of confiscated Lehan and other articles used for the preparation were destroyed on the spot. The seized illicit liquor was brought to the PS and a case under Excise Regulation has been registered.
The entire operation was carried out under the vigilant supervision of Shri. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur, and the overall direction and supervision of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.

Police Seize 51 Bottles of IMFL in Excise Raid at Jodakilan, Garacharma
Port Blair, Mar. 29: An excise raid was conducted at Jodakilan, Garacharma by Police Station Central Crime Station to curb the sale of alcohol today. As an outcome of the raid, the Police team consisting of SI Vinit Kumar Maurya, Head Constables Sanjit Madhu, S. Baroi, Constables K. Rajendran and S. K. Mazumdar has seized 51 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from the possession of one person namely M. Murugaiah, S/o Late S. Mariyappan, R/o Jodakilan, Garacharma. He was arrested on the spot and Case under section 32 Reg. III of 1876 has been registered at PS CCS and investigation is on.
The general public have been requested to inform about any credible information pertaining to illegal sale or possession of alcohol or any other illegal activity on the telephone numbers- 100, 232586, 233307, 9434280100. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.

Port Blair, Mar. 29: Cyber fraudsters are misusing people’s interest in work from home (WFH) opportunities and sending the fake job offers related messages on WhatsApp. Through these fake messages, they try to victimize the users by sending them malicious phishing links and attempt to commit financial frauds.
In this regard, the Andaman and Nicobar Police has issued the following advisory to safeguard the citizens against fake job offers:
• Ignore the messages received from unknown numbers.
• Avoid clicking on unfamiliar links received through messages on any online platforms.
• Only visit authorized company/organization website for valid job-related information.
• Install updated anti-virus on your digital devices for security and protection.
• Immediately block the number and report against such fake offers.
• Keep yourself updated about cyber frauds and scams.
• Enable 2 factor authentication and finger print options provided by the platforms.
• Ensure that you always follow safe online practices.

Nicobar District Police Successfully Recovers 7 Lost Mobile Handsets
Car Nicobar, Mar. 29: The Nicobar District Police has successfully recovered 7 lost mobile handsets and restored them to their rightful owners. Among these, 5 mobile handsets were recovered by the dedicated team of PS Car Nicobar while 2 mobile handsets were recovered by the team of PS Campbell Bay. This accomplishment underscores the unwavering commitment and diligence of Andaman & Nicobar Police in safeguarding community interests.
The effective utilization of the CEIR (Central Equipment Identity Register) portal played a pivotal role in these successful recoveries, streamlining the process and expediting the return of lost mobile devices to their owners. The gratitude expressed by the individuals upon having their mobile handsets restored reflects the invaluable impact of these efforts.
The general public have been urged to promptly report any incidents of lost or theft of mobile handsets to the nearest Police Station or utilize the services of the CEIR portal.
PS Baratang Cracks Down On Illicit Handia, One Arrested
Port Blair, Mar. 29:In 28.03.2024, the Baratang Police executed a swift and efficient operation, showcasing their unwavering dedication to combatting illegal activities. They successfully confiscated a substantial quantity of illicit Handia near Anganwadi Centre, Jarawa Creek, Baratang.
Taking immediate action, SI Sujit Bhattacharya, SHO PS Baratang along with Police party conducted a raid and successfully seized a significant quantity of 60 Kg of illicit Handia stored in 03 Nos. Aluminium Dekchi. The accused person namely Lagan Majhi S/o Late Krishna Majhi (69) yrs Pvt Worker R/o Nayadera, Baratang has been served a notice U/S 41 Cr.PC for further legal action. The seized items were brought to PS Baratang and a case under Excise Regulation has been registered against the accused person.

General Elections to Lok Sabha-2024: Voter Helpline 1950 Strengthened Ahead of Lok Sabha-2024 Elections
Port Blair, Mar. 29: In view of the General Elections to Lok Sabha-2024, the Voter Helpline has strengthened to make it easy for the Voters to get authentic information pertaining to their voter registration. The range of services provided by the Helpline Number 1950 have been refurbished and made easily accessible.
The number is 1950. Now, any citizen from any part of these Islands can call on the Toll Free Number with any query or complaint at any time of the day. Callers can enquire on subjects such as voter registration process, enrolled electors in the Electoral Roll can check the details of their personal information, Electors Photo Identification Card (EPIC), elections, voting dates, online registration, the Polling Station planned for them to visit on the Poll Day, to know the contact details of District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officer, Assistant Electoral Registration Officer & Booth Level Officers and lodge a complaint by simply dialing the Toll-Free Number.

Scrutiny Results: General Elections to the House of People, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency
Port Blair, Mar 28: The Scrutiny of the Nomination papers for the General Elections to the House of People from Andaman and Nicobar Islands Parliamentary Constituency was held today at the Conference hall of the Office of the Returning Officer, ANIPC in the presence of the General Observer, aspiring candidates and the authorized representatives of the political parties.
The scrutiny of nomination papers filed up to 3.00PM on 27.03.2024 was taken up for scrutiny on 28.03.2024 from 11.00 AM in the Office of the Returning Officer (Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman) in the presence of Shri B.N Singh, IAS, General Observer of the Constituency.
At the time of Scrutiny of Nomination Papers, necessary arrangements were made to display all the nomination papers, affidavits to all the authorized representatives. Reasonable opportunities were given to the participants for examining the Nomination Papers of all candidates and the scrutiny was held in accordance with the procedure laid down under law one after another as per serial number.
At the end of scrutiny, the nomination papers, including supporting documents, of all candidates were thoroughly examined, out of the thirty (30) nomination papers filed by fifteen (15) candidates, Twenty Four (24) nomination papers of the Thirteen (13) candidates were accepted while nomination papers filed by Two (2) candidates were rejected.
Special Excise Raid in Tamaloo Village Leads to Seizure and Arrest
Port Blair, Mar 28: On 27/03/2024, a Special Excise Raid was carried out by a police team comprising SI J.R.Krishna, HC/2903 Y Lazar, PC/916 Pradeep Singh,PC/1197 Manojeet Gharami, PC/20 Monica, PC/1630 Solomie, PC(D)/2737 C H Prakash Rao & CT/775 Finlayson of PS Car Nicobar at various locations within Tamaloo village. The operation was conducted with precision and thoroughness to combat illicit activities related to liquor.
During the raid, a significant quantity of 1100 liters of Lahan (a raw material used in making illicit liquor) was discovered and promptly destroyed on-site, with photographic evidence documenting the process. Additionally, 3 litres of illicit liquor was recovered from Patrick S/o Alphage, aged 62 years and a resident of Tamaloo Village, Car Nicobar.
Subsequently, in accordance with the Excise Regulation, a case was registered vide FIR No: 12/2024. The accused, Patrick S/o Alphage, was apprehended on the spot, and the seized liquor along with the arrested individual were brought to the Police Station for further legal proceedings.
This successful operation reflects the diligent efforts of Police Station Car Nicobar to uphold the law and curtail illegal activities related to liquor production and distribution. Such raids and actions serve as a deterrent to those engaged in unlawful practices and underscore the commitment of the police to maintain public safety and orders especially amidst the general election.
