Port Blair, Feb 25: A special lecture was organised at Seminar hall (Room no. 52) to sensitize and make students well aware about the various aspects of life, threats, behaviors and conservation of The Sea turtles of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Mr. K. Irfan Ali, Programme Assistant from Dakshin Foundation and Andaman Nicobar Environment Team (ANET), Port Blair, through power point presentation gave details about the Four species of sea turtles found in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In his presentation he shares field experiences with sea turtles especially on leatherback (Dermochelys coriacea) during research in little Andaman. The lecture ends with a questionnaire session. Earlier Dr. Vivek Kumar Sahu, Assistant Professor and Chairman of The Nature Club, Department of Zoology, briefed the students about the importance of biodiversity with special reference to these Islands. The entire program was witnessed by the faculty and students of the department of Zoology.

Awareness & Interaction Session to organize by Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board
Port Blair, Feb 25: The Andaman & Nicobar Islands Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Port Blair will be organizing an ‘Awareness & Interaction Session’ on Feb.27, 2024 at 11 am followed by ‘Spot Registration Camp’ for the benefit of Building and Other Construction Workers of N&M Andaman District for two consecutive days i.e. Feb.27 & 28, 2024 at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium, Middle Andaman, Rangat.
Therefore, all eligible Building & Other Construction Workers of N&M Andaman District have been requested to attend the programme and get them registered with the A & N Islands Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board to avail various types of social security assistance being offered by the Board. A Joyful Day at Veer Savarkar Park: Senior Citizens of Abbhyuday Complex Bask in Nature’s Embrace
Port Blair, Feb 25: The Directorate of Social Welfare organized a heartwarming outing for the senior citizens of Abbhyuday Complex, Ferrargunj at Veer Savarkar Park, Chouldari. The event was aimed at providing an opportunity for the elderly residents to enjoy nature and peace in a tranquil setting.
The senior citizens were seen delighting in the beauty of the park and relishing the peaceful environment as they took a break from their daily routine. Mr. Balveer Singh, senior Citizen from Abbhyuday Complex, couldn’t hide his joy. He also expressed his happiness, “Today was a day that reminded us of the simple joys that life has to offer. I am grateful for this wonderful experience and for the opportunity to soak in the peaceful atmosphere of the park.”
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), was present to ensure that the outing was a memorable one for all involved. His dedication to the mission of social inclusion was palpable as he mingled with the seniors, listening to their stories and sharing laughs. He also highlighted that, “Directorate of Social Welfare is not just about addressing the needs of the community but also about filling their lives with moments of happiness. We are committed to organizing more such events in the future, aiming to create an environment where our elder members feel valued and together we celebrate the spirit of community life.”
The outing was a success, and the participants were able to enjoy a day of relaxation, laughter, and connection with nature. The Directorate of Social Welfare remains committed to creating similar opportunities for senior citizens to continue fostering a sense of joy, community, and wellbeing.
Document verification of candidate selected for various post under Fisheries Deptt. to be held on Feb. 28
Port Blair, Feb 25: The A & N Administration with the assistance of Staff Selection Commission, New Delhi conducted a Common Recruitment Written Examination on 09.07.2023 for filling-up of various Group-C Matric Level posts under A&N Administration vide Vacancy Notice No. 4-13/2023-R&E Cell/396 dated 29.04.2023.The Selected List of candidates was published in the Daily Telegrams on 07.02.2024 by the Administration and the Offer of Appointments to the selected candidates for the posts under Department of Fisheries were handed over to the candidates during the Rozgar Mela held on 12.02.2024.
In this connection, candidates have been informed that the verification of documents/testimonials of all the selected candidates for the posts viz. Fisheries Field Assistant, Multi-Tasking Staff, Diesel Mechanic, Fitter, Electrician and Plant-Operator-cum-Mechanic under the Department of Fisheries, A&N Administration will be held on 28.02.2024 at 10 am in the Conference Hall of Directorate of Fisheries, Mohanpura, Opp. Andaman Law College, Port Blair.
All the selected candidates in the above mentioned posts have been directed to appear before the Recruitment Committee, Directorate of Fisheries for verification of the original certificates/testimonial as per schedule date, time and venue without fail as mentioned viz. Educational Qualification Certificates, Category Certificate (ST/OBC/EWS), Sub Category (PWD/MSP/ESM), Age Proof Certificate, Hardcopy of Online Application Form, Admit Card of (Tier-I).
The Departmental Candidates must produce ‘No Objection Certificate’ issued by the Head of Department. The candidates seeking relaxation of age in-terms of Administration’s Circular bearing No.45/96-PW dated 06.06.2001 and 45/1998-PW dated 19.09.2011, must possess the required certificate issued by the Competent Authority. They must also bring two sets of self attested photocopy of all certificates and testimonials along with two recent passport size photographs of the candidate.
Further, if any candidate fails to get the original educational/mandatory certificates and other testimonials verified as mentioned above, his/her candidature for the post shall not be considered for appointment by the Department of Fisheries, A & N Administration and his/her candidature shall forthwith be rejected for all purposes in the instant recruitment process without any further correspondence.
Verification of documents shall be carried out strictly as per Recruitment Rules of the respective posts and guidelines/orders/OM in-force issued by Govt. of India and A&N Administration.
