Provisionally Selected Candidates for ‘Junior Research Fellow’ Post Notified by AYUSH Department

Suspension of Water Sports & Trekking Activities at Swaraj Dweep Due to VVIP Visit

Department of Social Welfare Launches ‘Poshan Mitra’ Programme to Tackle Child Malnutrition
Port Blair, Feb 15: The Department of Social Welfare, A &N Administration has launched a new programme namely ‘Poshan Mitra’, a vital initiative aimed at combating severe malnutrition among children with the support of general public.
The Poshan Mitra program is an additional effort to address the pressing issue of malnutrition through community participation especially through volunteers, who can assist the severely malnourished children by donating nutritional items like dalia, date syrup, ghee, protein powder, green gram, ground nut worth Rs 1000/- per month to a severe malnutrition among children in the following manner.
• The items mentioned above only may be provided and no cooked food will be accepted. The volunteers may note that no fund rising may be done citing this purpose.
• The items for Poshan Kit should be handed over to CDPOs for verification.
• Only those children who are found malnourished as per the CDPOs report may be given Poshan Kit.
• Poshan Mitra to purchase the Poshan Kit for the malnourished children from open market.
• Packed raw material must be checked for expiry date /best before use by date.
• There shall not be any political, religious, caste related literature in the Poshan Kit.
• All items should be securely packed in a basket and covered in proper way.

Chief Electoral Officer of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Initiates Media Committee; Preps for Upcoming General Elections
Port Blair, Feb 15: The Chief Electoral Officer, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Shri B S Jaglan, IAS, today, held a meeting with the Returning Officer (ANIPC), Ms Veditha Reddy, IAS, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Asst. Commissioner (UT), Shri Suvigya S Chandra, IAS, Asst. Commissioner (Sett), Shri Anand Vardhan Mishra, Nodal Officer (Social Media)/Director (IP&T), Shri Jatinder Sohal, officials from Doordarshan & All India Radio in his chamber at Secretariat, A&N Administration.
During the meeting, the CEO discussed to provide up-to-date information related to electoral process, voter awareness, voter education through social media platforms to maximize outreach among citizens. He further directed to constitute a Committee for Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for dealing with certification of advertisement of political nature by Political Parties/groups/organizations/ associations and briefed about the social media importance in Election process in view of the upcoming General Elections to Lok Sabha – 2024.
Travel for Life Case Study Competition Launched by CAN-ST to Promote Sustainable Tourism
Port Blair, Feb 15: To create a sustainable, resilient and inclusive tourism sector, the CAN-ST (Central Nodal Agency for Sustainable Tourism) under the aegis of Ministry of Tourism launched Travel for Life Case Study Competition- Tourism for Tomorrow to recognize the best practices implemented in Tourism sector. The competition provides platform for public and private sector stakeholders to share their success stores and best practices thereby fostering mutual learning and collective action in advancing towards Sustainable Development Goals. Individuals/Groups that can participate are as mentioned below:
• Public Sector Organizations including Central Government Ministries, State Government Departments and other Government organizations.
• Private Sector stakeholders including Hotels, Tour Operators, Activity Operators, Airlines and other tourism businesses.
• Universities
Participants can submit their entries/case studies that address challenges identified under any of the five key priority areas of the GOA Roadman namely Green Tourism, Digitalization, Skills, Tourism MSMEs, and Destination Management. Coast Guard Announces Firing Practice at Chinthe Long Range on Feb. 23rd
