On her arrival she was accorded warm welcome by Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President BJP, Mr. M Vinod, State Vice President & State Prabhari Social Media, IT and Media and Mrs. Chaitali Halder, Samiti Member from Chouldari and State General Secretary OBC Morcha.
She was here in Andaman and Nicobar Islands to conduct workshop on Gaon Chalo Abhiyaan, a National BJP initiative to reach the last village of our country and interact with the villagers and spread awareness of the ongoing Schemes of Govt. Of India.

MGGC staff receives Commendation Certificate from DC N & M Andaman on Republic. Day
Port Blair, Jan 29: Smti GANGA. A (MTS) attached to Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College , Mayabunder was conferred Commendation Certificate by Mr. Ankit Yadav ,IAS , Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman on the occasion of 26th January , 75th Republic Day in recognition of her diligent and hard work dedicated towards her duties and rendering meritorious services towards welfare of students of the college. She worked under many Principals with good remarks. As she is so sincere and dedicated towards her duties and responsibilities even her official holidays , hardly avails leave, if not unavoidable. She is very punctual in her work. Her work is exemplary and always ensures nothing remains pending. Even in the leave of absence of the In-Charge, Admission and Examination Wing, she looks after and manages of works of In-Charge with utter determination. She is discharging important responsibly of the Admission and Examination Wing that was assigned by the Principals from time to time for the last twenty six years of her services. She is so amicable with each and every student and having personal contact with them regarding their issues. She has displayed exemplary dedication and devotion towards her duties in the interest of the students’ community of this institution.

Regional Station, Minicoy of ICAR-CIARI Port Blair, celebrated 75thRepublic Day. The National Flag was hoisted in the premises of the campus by Scientist in-charge Dr.Y. Gladston of ICAR-CIARI Regional Station, Minicoy at 6.45AM on 26thJanuary 2024. The staffalong their families attended.The programme was conducted under the supervision of Dr.S.K. Zamir Ahmed, Principal Scientist&Nodal officer and guidance of Dr.E.B. Chakurkar, Director CIARI.
Inspection of Ward No. 22 by Secretary and Chairperson, PBMC
Port Blair, Jan 29: On January 29, 2024, Mr. Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Secretary, PBMC, accompanied by the Smti S. Selvi, Chairperson, PBMC alongwith the Ward Councillor of Ward No. 22, conducted an inspection of Ward No 22 alongwith PBMC officials. The visit aimed to address various issues and ensure the overall well-being of the locality. Secretary PBMC emphasized the need to cover wells in the area to prevent contamination from external particles such as leaves, plastics and waste etc. The team inspected the major drain in the vicinity, issued directives to the sanitary inspector and relevant officials to clean the drain for unhindered water flow. Additionally, instructions were given to enforce fines in accordance with Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules for non segregation of the waste.
The team also visited the Burning Ghat area, noting its suboptimal condition. It was directed the initiation of repair and maintenance activities for the Burning Ghat to enhance its overall state to utilize the space and beautification. Furthermore, bore wells installed across the ward were inspected, revealing non-functional pumps. It was directed for immediate repairs and reinstallation, setting a deadline of fifteen days for completion. The visit will continue in other wards as well aiming at Proper Cleanliness and waste segregation in the city along with proper water supply as per schedule and to review the ground implementation of various works under Civil, Water Sectors.

Pariksha Pe Charcha 2024 Inspires Students in Andaman and Nicobar Islands
Port Blair, Jan.29:The ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’-2024 programme was screened live in the auditorium of Tagore Government College of Education (TGCE) here today by the Education Department of A&N Administration. Joining the students, teachers and parents, Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice Chairman, Islands Development Agency also witnessed the programme. The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Ms Nandini Paliwal, IAS, Secretary (Education), Ms Pallavi Sarkar , IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Ms Veditha Reddy, IAS, SP(SA), Shri Kalaivanan R, IPS, Director (Education), Shri Aditya Kumar Jha and other senior officers of the Administration were also present on the occasion.
School students drawn from different schools of the town area witnessed the live ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ programme, drawing inspiration from the motivational words of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Simultaneously, elaborate arrangements were also made by the Education Department for the live screening of the programme in all the schools spread across the Islands. The programme was witnessed by students from class VI to VIII, IX & XI and the students of class X & XII who will be appearing for the board exams.
Earlier, welcoming the gathering, the Secretary (Education), Ms Pallavi Sarkar said, today’s programme has been organized to witness this year’s edition of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’, as it is the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister to make learning more joyful and less stressful for the future nation builders and also to apprise them of more choices for growth and opportunities in the country. She informed that two students from the North and Middle Andaman District viz. Anshu Das and Monisha Roy of class IX of Govt. Secondary School Mohanpur-5, a far flung area of the Islands, have been selected to participate in the Pariksha Pe Charcha-2024 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi today along with an escort teacher. These students had the privilege of witnessing the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path at New Delhi on Jan. 26 and also the Beating Retreat. Apart from this, for the first time, a question from a parent named Smti Bhagyalaxmi, mother of B Pooja of Class VII of GDMS Secondary School, Middle Point has been selected by the Ministry of Education and on 25th January, an interview of the parent was also taken by the Ministry of Education personnel directly.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by the Director, Education, Shri Aditya Kumar Jha.
Night Collection of waste for Commercial/ Industrial & Institutional establishments by Port Blair Municipal Council
Port Blair, Jan 29: In a significant operational shift, the Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC) notifies all Commercial, Institutional, and Industrial Establishments in Port Blair regarding the waste collection during night collection by the Sanitation wing of the Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC) starting from February 1, 2024 replacing the existing process handled by the Self Help Group.
This aligns with the Solid Waste (Handling and Management) Bye Laws, 2017 of the Port Blair Municipal Council, emphasizing a collaborative approach to waste management. Commercial Institutional, and Industrial Establishments & stakeholders are earnestly urged to cooperate with the PBMC’s sanitation wing to ensure the seamless implementation.
It is now mandatory for Commercial, Institutional, and Industrial Establishments to segregate waste into Dry and Wet categories. Additionally, establishments are required to process organic waste at the source, handing over only dry recyclables to PBMC’s Staff during the daily waste collection, in adherence to the PBMC – Solid Wastes (Handling and Management) Bye-Laws, 2017. Failure to adhere to these regulations will result in necessary penalties. Moreover, gross violations may lead to the disconnection of water supply and the temporary suspension of the establishment, in accordance with applicable laws.
Furthermore, in accordance with the Bye-Laws, the PBMC will now facilitate the monthly user fee collection through Point of Sale (POS) machines. These machines have been issued for each ward, following the classified schedule-III for monthly user fees applicable to shops, establishments, institutions, and bulk waste generators.
As a responsible community, it is incumbent upon everyone to contribute to the serene beauty of our Islands, which not only uplift the local environment but also leaves good impression on the tourists visiting to our beautiful city.
The Port Blair Municipal Council urges residents, businesses, and visitors alike to practice responsible waste management and cooperate us in implementing these measures, which are essential for fostering a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
Oath Taking Ceremony of Recruit Follower Constables Held at PTS, Prothrapur
Port Blair, Jan 29: The Police Training School witnessed a momentous occasion today on 29/01/2024, as 35 Recruit Follower Constables of Andaman & Nicobar Police took their oath in a solemn ceremony, symbolizing the culmination of their rigorous training and unwavering dedication.
Chief Guest Mr. Devesh Chandra Srivastva, IPS, Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands graced the occasion with his august presence.
Smti. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS, DIGP (Training), welcomed the Chief Guest and extended her heartfelt congratulations to the trainees for successfully completing the intense 03 Months Basic Training. 1st Chaturanga Smart Girl 2024 Chess Tournament Concludes
Port Blair, Jan 29: The 1st Chaturanga Smart Girl 2024 Chess Tournament, organised by the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association in collaboration with SURPANJALI (a cultural art forum) to encourage and empower girls concluded successfully yesterday evening at RGT Public School, Port Blair. Around 130 girl chess players enthusiastically participated, in the event. The event was held exclusively for girls in different age categories viz under 07, under 09, Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and under 19.
The Secretary, Surpanjali graced the occasion as the chief guest for the closing ceremony who gave away trophies and certificates to the winners. The winners of the different age categories are as follows:

Circuit Sitting of Central Administrative Tribunal at Port Blair
Port Blair, Jan. 29: A Division Bench comprising of Hon’ble Shri Jayesh V. Bhairavia, Judicial Member and Hon’ble Shri Suchitto Kumar Das, Administrative Member of Central Administrative Tribunal Kolkata Bench shall hold Circuit Sitting at Port Blair w.e.f. 05.02.2024 to 16.01.2024 (both days inclusive) to dispose of cases pending in the Court of Hon’ble Central Administrative Tribunal, of Calcutta, Circuit Bench at Port Blair.
Fresh application will also be entertained. Department those who are having CAT cases have been requested to contact the Government Pleader/Panel Advocates with relevant case documents and brief them about the case in detail so as to enable the Government Counsel to defend the case on behalf of the Administration fully prepared. Head of Departments have also been requested to instruct their Nodal Officers to be present in the Tribunal on the date of hearing along with relevant documents to assist the Government Pleader/Panel Advocate at the time of hearing.
