Awareness cum Fitness Programme organized at Joggers Park
Port Blair, Jan 16: The Directorate of Social Welfare spearheaded an innovative program, Awareness cum Fitness Programme (Hasgulla Club), under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign). Taking a novel approach to combat substance abuse, the program intertwines physical fitness with the joyous nature of laughter, creating a unique therapeutic experience.
The 14th Awareness Cum Fitness Program at Joggers Park from 6 AM to 7:30 AM, inviting locals to participate in a refresh morning routine. The session, which successfully engaged with 30 beneficiaries, was expertly guided by Mr. M.S. Murgan, whose credentials as an Ex. Sub Inspector of A&N Police (IRBN), combined with his international acclaim as a laughter and yoga advocate, provided an inspiring presence.
A similar programme was held on last Saturday at Flag Point, Port Blair, which was guided by Mr. Ravider Rao, Teacher (Art of Living International Center), Rtd. Managing Director of A&N state Cooperative Bank Ltd.
Gracing the event, Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), delineated the multifaceted benefits of Yoga and meditation, with a special emphasis on the pivotal role they play in elderly health management. He stressed the importance of leveraging life experiences to maintain and enhance one’s health through age-friendly activities.
The Drug Awareness cum Fitness programme pledges to be a regular Sunday fixture at Joggers Park, inviting the community from 6:00 AM till 7:30 AM to partake in this life-affirming initiative until the end of March. The sessions are tailored to promote well-rounded wellness, influencing participants to make informed choices against substance abuse.
