Swaraj Dweep, Dec 10: In a collective effort to address long-standing civic grievances, including frequent power cuts, poor road conditions, inadequate health facilities, and concerns over the Ice Plant, hoteliers, tour operators, and local residents have decided to stage a Dharna tomorrow in Swaraj Dweep.
The protesters assert that the persistent power outages not only affect the tourism industry but also disrupt daily life. Additionally, they highlight that other crucial issues have been neglected by the administration for an extended period.
While the duration of the Dharna is uncertain, it is scheduled to take place in Swaraj Dweep Bazaar. Notably, tourism activities will not be halted during the protest, ensuring minimal disruption to visitors. If there is no improvement in the situation, the agitators have indicated the possibility of escalating their protest in the coming days, employing stronger measures.
A PRI (Panchayati Raj Institution) member from Swaraj Dweep expressed disappointment, stating that local PRI members have consistently raised concerns with relevant departments, yet there has been minimal support from the administration.
Mr. Ajith Kumar Roy, the Pradhan of Govind Nagar Panchayat, outlined the primary demands of the public, which include the upgrading of the DG Set for power supply in Swaraj Dweep, road repair and maintenance, Proper Ice Plant facility, improved health facilities, the provision of additional parking facilities, and agricultural support.

BJP State President Ajoy Bairagi Accuses India Alliance of Corruption
Port Blair, Dec 10: Addressing media persons at the party headquarters on this afternoon, Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, the State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stated that India Alliance is an organization of thieves. He emphasized that to save India, the India Alliance coalition must be kept away from the country’s governance.
Mr. Bairagi highlighted the Modi government’s continuous efforts over the past nine years to eliminate corruption. However, he accused leaders of the Congress party of being involved in large-scale cash transactions. He claimed that the UPA government was a scam-ridden regime, and the Congress party is running a shop of love to conceal its corruption. He expressed the belief that the people’s money must be returned to the people, assuring that the Modi government guarantees it.
The party spokesperson, Dr. Jijith Rekh, mentioned that the cash count at the residence of a Congress Rajya Sabha member has been underway for the last three days, yet the counting remains incomplete. He questioned the significant amount of cash received by one Rajya Sabha member and speculated on the wealth possessed by other party leaders.
Dr. Rekh expressed surprise that despite the exposure of such a massive scandal, the Congress party has not issued any statement. He accused the party of not only promoting corruption but also protecting it. Dr. Rekh pointed out that today, every young person has a smartphone, and political parties cannot mislead the people and youth. The party’s General Secretary Shri K Ram Das and State Media Prabhari, Mr. M. Vinod, were also present during the press conference.
Member of Parliament demands daily one Additional Bus to Aid Forest Mazdoor Recruitment Candidates for Rangat
Port Blair, Dec 10: In a bid to address the challenges faced by candidates participating in the Forest Mazdoor Recruitment 2023, the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Chief Secretary to provide daily one Additional Bus to Aid Forest Mazdoor Recruitment Candidates for Rangat and return.
With the ongoing recruitment process extending until December 15, 2023, candidates from Port Blair intended to reach Rangat are grappling with the unavailability of seats on State Transport Service (STS) as well as private buses. Because of this many candidates are afraid of missing the opportunity to reach Rangat on time, while others will have to pay a heavy amount to book private vans.
In this regard the Member of Parliament requested the Chief Secretary to provide daily one Additional Bus to Aid Forest Mazdoor Recruitment Candidates for Rangat, exclusively for these candidates till December 15, 2023.
TSG Bhasker extends best wishes to roller skating players of A&N Islands participating in 61st National Roller Scating Championship in Chennai
Port Blair, Dec 10: The Chairman of TSG Charitable Foundation Mr. TSG Bhasker on Saturday met the Roller Scating players of Andaman & Nicobar Islands at Marina Park and conveyed his wishes to them. These players will be participating in the 61st National Roller Scating Championship set to take place from December 15th to 25th at Chennai.
Mr. Bhasker applauded the efforts of the coaches for training the students well. He encouraged the coaches to raise and promote the level of sports in A&N Islands and expressed happiness that Islander players have been excelling in the field of skating.
Mr. Bhasker interacted individually with the players, and wished them luck. He was hopeful that the players will work hard and come out successful at the end of the Championship and bring accolades to our Islands with their sheer determination and unwavering effort. He advised the young athletes to always strive to learn something new.
He was accompanied by the Programme Coordinator of TSG Charitable Foundation Mr. Ameer Bux during the visit.
Co-Accused Person of 7.246 Kgs of Ganja Arrests by PS Central Crime Station
Port Blair, Dec 10: In continuation to the arrest made in 7.246 kgs of Ganja seized on 04/12/2023, PS Central Crime Station arrested one more accused person namely Indrajit Mondal R/o Diglipur on 08/12/2023 under NDPS Act 1985 after getting sufficient evidence who is the part of this drug racket. Indrajit Mondal is found to be actively involved in financing and distribution of contraband. His Police Custody remand has been obtained for sustained interrogation to unearth involvement of other persons.
Andaman and Nicobar Police continues its relentless pursuit to curb drug trafficking and bring those responsible for such offenses to justice. The cooperation of the public in sharing valuable information with police will play a key role in combating this menace.

Member of Parliament lays foundation stone for Mini Community Hall at Ranchi Basti, Ward No.1, Namunaghar Gram Panchayat
Port Blair, Dec 10: The Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today laid the foundation stone for Mini Community Hall at Ranchi Basti, Ward No.1, Namunaghar Gram Panchayat.
The work has been sanctioned under MPLADS funds, with an estimated cost of Rs, 28,42,792 has been sanctioned by the Member of Parliament following demands raised by the residents, especially youths of the area.
After laying the foundation, the Member of Parliament expressed his hope that this work will bring positive changes in Rachi Basti, Namunaghar and nearby areas. He said that a mini stadium was long pending demand of the area.

Port Blair, Dec 10: The Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today laid the foundation stone for installation of LED Flood Lights at Namunaghar for development of Sports and Games Activities youths and also to Promote Arts and Cultural Activities.
The work has been sanctioned under MPLADS funds, with an estimated cost of Rs.9,45,745 has been sanctioned by the Member of Parliament following demands raised by the residents, especially youths of the area.
Addressing the gathering the Member of Parliament said that the work has been sanctioned by him with an aim to engage youths of the region in constructive activities like, sports, cultural activities and promotion of sports and cultural activities in the area.

Shree Ram Temple Consecration Rituals Begin in A&N Islands with a Massive Rally – Akshat Swagat Yathra
Port Blair, Dec 10: Marking the beginning of the of Shree Ram Temple on 22th January 2023 at Ayodhya, the “PUJIT AKSHAT” arrived at Port Blair today. A massive gathering of Ram Devotees across the islands awaited at the Veer Savarkar International Airport to receive the Pujit Akshat. The Airport surroundings were echoed with the chanting of “Jai Shree Ram!! Jai Shree Ram!!” by the Devotees.
The Pujit Akshat in a brass kalash (urn) was received by the Mr. Swami Suddhananda Saraswati Maharaj ji, Adyaksh, Sri Ram Mandir Pran Pratishta Abhiyan Samiti, A&N Dweep Samuh and the with the traditional coconut breaking, the massive rally of “PUJIT AKSHAT” celebrating the receipt of Pujit Akshat for Ayodhiya began from Airport and by showering the blessing of Lord Shree Ram via Junglighat, Goal Ghar, Abredeen Bazar, Clock Tower, Secretariat reached at Chinmaya Mission, Police Line. All devotees enchanted hanuman Chalisa on Chinmaya Mission. Mr. Swami Suddhananda Saraswati Maharaj Addressed the gathering and event concluded with distribution of Bhog prasad to all the devotees.
Mr. Anoop Gopinathan, General Secretary, Sri Ram Mandir Pran Pratishta Abhiyan Samiti, A&N Dweep Samuh informed that from December 15 to 15 January, the Samiti will hold a drive within Andaman & Nicobar Islands to distribute the ‘Pujit Akshat’ worshiped Yellow rice among the families and appeal to them to provide the same rice to their relatives and friends and also to celebrate the festival at monasteries and temples in different areas. Temple committees are appealing to install television screens at temples in every village and town so that the devotees can attend the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple through a live feed. Arrangements have also been made for devotees across the islands to perform bhajan-kirtan at temples in their respective villages.
The grand consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya is a momentous occasion for the Hindu community and preparations for the ceremony are in full swing, with the samiti elaborate arrangements to ensure that devotees from all over the Islands can participate in the festivities.

Port Blair, Dec 10: WITH YOU NGO, dedicated to empowering communities, organized a motivational talk event at ANCOL College, Chakkargaon. The program aimed to inspire and motivate the youth of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, featuring three remarkable talents from the region.
The distinguished speakers included R. Kasturi Bai, a 15-year-old international chess player with silver and bronze medals, Mr. Olake, a tribal community member belong to Great Andamani got selected as Junior Engineer in APWD, and Captain Chandini Chandar Lall, the first lady pilot from the islands employed in government airlines.
Miss V. K. Mariyam Bibi, President of WITH YOU NGO, opened the event by welcoming the chief guest and other attendees. Dr. Jayakumar, Principal of ANCOL College, shared positive and motivating thoughts to encourage the students present.
The three island talents shared their experiences, providing valuable insights to inspire the students on their career journeys. During the event, the chief guest and WITH YOU members felicitated the speakers for their outstanding achievements.
The program concluded with an interactive session between the talents and the students, fostering engagement and exchange of ideas. The event was skillfully hosted by Ms. N. Divya Chezian, Faculty of the English department at ANCOL.

Deputy Commissioner visits Child Care Institutions of South Andaman District
Port Blair, Dec 10: Ms. Veditha Reddy, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman along with Mr. Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Additional District Magistrate and Mr. Punshiba Wiarokpam Singh, IAS (P) visited Child Care Institutions viz. Bethany Children Home and Calvary Children Home on 09/12/2023.
During the visit the team inspected the facilities provided to the children at the Child Care Institution and had a brief inspection of the basic facilities provided at the institute such as food, shelter, stationary for education, clothing. Additionally the CCI institution is imparting vocational training such as tailoring to the inmates of the house.
The team appreciated the efforts made by the management of the Child Care Institution. The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman suggested the management of the Child Care Institution to set up library, craft activities and arrange career counselling sessions for the children. The shortcomings were also noticed and instructions were given to make necessary improvement as per the JJ Act.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman interacted with the children and management staff of the Child Care Institution and wished all the children for their studies and future endeavours.
