Port Blair, Dec 08: An incident of theft has come to light at the Prothrapur Shiv Temple. On Friday, around three in the afternoon, one person reportedly broke into the temple, forcibly opened the donation box, and made off with thousands of rupees. The entire incident has been recorded on the temple’s CCTV cameras.
The temple priest, Pandit Harish Tiwari, reported the matter to the Pahadgaon police station, urging immediate action. According to Mr. Tiwari, when he arrived at the temple around four in the evening, he discovered that the donation box had been broken open. Suspecting burglary, he promptly checked the CCTV footage, which clearly showed an individual entering the temple around three o’clock with a rod-like object in hand. Using the rod, the person broke open the donation box, gathered all the money into a bag, and fled the scene.
The temple priest has filed a complaint at the police station, and an officer has visited the temple to gather information about the incident. The police are now investigating the matter to apprehend the culprit.
