Port Blair, Nov 03: The vessel MV Swaraj Dweep is expected to arrive at Port Blair on Dec.4 at 1900 hrs from Vizag. She has on board a total of 293 passengers. On arrival, the vessel will be berthed at Haddo Wharf and passengers will be disembarked immediately.

Three-days training program held for Medical Officers (Allopathy)
Port Blair, Nov 03: A three-day training program for Medical Officers (Allopathy) was organized from Nov.29 to Dec.1, 2023 at AYUSH Hospital, Port Blair. The training focused on enhancing the participants’ knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and management of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). More than 20 Medical Officers from various health institutions across the UT actively participated in this enriching initiative, reaffirming their commitment to improving healthcare outcomes.
The training was inaugurated by Dr. Pragya Sharma, Director ANIIMS in the presence of Dr. Shiny Varghese, Nodal Officer, NP-NCD. Experienced faculties from GB Pant and ANIIMS conducted insightful sessions with interactive discussions, case studies, and hands-on learning experiences on a wide array of NCDs, including Diabetes, Hypertension, Stroke, Oral Cervical and Breast Cancer, Management of COPD, CKD, STEMI, NAFLD, and the diagnosis and management of various lifestyle diseases.
Interactive yoga sessions were conducted by Yoga Instructors who focused on aligning physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques tailored specifically to address the challenges associated with NCDs. The culmination of the training was marked by the distribution of certificates to participants by Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services, and Dr.Pragya Sharma, Director, ANIIMS who expressed their appreciation for the initiative.
District Planning Committee Meeting Held
Mayabunder, Dec 03: Mr. Subrata Basu (Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad, N&MA), the Chairman of the District Planning Committee North & Middle Andaman held meeting of the District Planning Committee for three consecutive days on Nov.28 , 29 & 30, 2023 in the Conference Hall of the Zilla Parishad, N&MA, Lucknow in the presence of Mr. Ashish Joon, Chief Executive Officer/Ex-Officio Secretary, Mrs. Jayanti Jyoti, Up-Adhyaksha, DPC Members, Secretary (RD/PRIs/ULBs), Deputy Commissioner of North & Middle Andaman, Pramukh (Rangat/ Mayabunder/Diglipur), Officials of Zilla Parishad, Heads of the Govt. Departments of A&N Administration to discuss and finalize 3 Years Action Plan (2023-24, 2024-25 & 2025-26) of North & Middle Andaman District under various sectors and subjects.
The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the Secretary (Plg/Fin). The Committee discussed the Draft 3 Years Action Plan (2023-24, 2024-25 & 2025-26) documents of North & Middle Andaman District under various sectors. Besides this, the Department-wise action taken report of the last meeting of the District Planning Committee was also reviewed.
The Departments who attended the first day of the Meeting were Agriculture, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Rural Development, PRIs & ULBs. While, the second day of the Meeting was attended by Departments of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Health, Transport, Cooperative, Shipping, APWD, Labour & Employment, Information, Publicity & Tourism and on the third day, the Department of Revenue, District Administration & MGNREGA, Forest & Wildlife, Civil Aviation, Education, Police, Industries, Social Welfare, Higher Education(MGG College) and Govt. Polytechnic.
The Chief Executive Officer/Ex-Officio Secretary proposed the vote of thanks after the completion of the DPC Meeting.
Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre to celebrate rich cultural heritage of India conducting Odissi Classical Dance Workshop from Dec. 4
Port Blair, Nov 03: To celebrate the rich cultural heritage of India, the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, Gol in collaboration with Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration and Kala Kendra Society will be conducting Odissi Classical Dance Workshop from Dec. 4 to 8 at Andaman Club, Port Blair. Mrs. Sujata Mohapatra, renowned Odissi Classical exponent from Odisha will conduct the workshop.

Death Mourned
Port Blair, Nov 03: CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committee deeply mourn the death of Smt Prova Parial, wife of late HN Parial, former State Secretary of CPI (M) and former Chairman of Port Blair Municipal Board, today (02.12.2023) at her residence at Port Blair. She was 88 years. She left behind her two sons.
Her body will be taken for cremation tomorrow (3.12.2023) at 10.30 a.m. from her residence at Deen Street Housing Coop Society Colony (NABARD Colony), Goalghar, Port Blair.
CPI (M) conveys its deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.

Port Blair, Nov 03: Mr. Vishal Jolly, National Executive Member BJP & Former State President BJP-ANI has deeply mourned the sad demise of Smt. Prova Parial, W/o Late H.N. Parial, Ex-Chairman of PBMC, R/o NABARD Colony Golghar, who left for heavenly abode on 02-12-2023. Shri Jolly prayed to the Almighty for the eternal peace of the departed soul and to give strength to her bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
