Port Blair, Dec 01: As part of the Navy Day celebrations in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, ships/vessels of the Indian Navy will be illuminated on 04 Dec 2023 from 1725h to 2100h at anchorage off the Marina flag post seafront. At sunset, the ships would fire colourful flares and switch on the outline illumination lights. This would be followed by a performance by Navy Band at Marina Park.

Three Days Training of Medical Officers on Non-Communicable Diseases at Ayush Hospital from 29th November to 1st December 2023
Port Blair, Dec 01: A three-day training program for Medical Officers (Allopathy) was organised from 29th November to 1st December, 2023 at AYUSH Hospital, Port Blair. The training focused on enhancing the participants’ knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and management of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
More than 20 Medical Officers from various health institutions across the UT actively participated in this enriching initiative, reaffirming their commitment to improving healthcare outcomes.
The training commenced with a ceremonial inaugural function by lighting the lamp of Dr. Pragya Sharma, Director ANIIMS, and Dr. Shiny Varghese, Nodal Officer, NP-NCD symbolizing the enlightenment of medical knowledge.
Experienced faculties from GB Pant and ANIIMS conducted insightful sessions with interactive discussions, case studies, and hands-on learning experiences on a wide array of NCDs, including Diabetes, Hypertension, Stroke, Oral Cervical and Breast Cancer, Management of COPD, CKD, STEMI, NAFLD, and the diagnosis and management of various lifestyle diseases.
Interactive yoga sessions were conducted by Yoga instructors focused on aligning physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques tailored specifically to address the challenges associated with NCDs.
The successful culmination of the training was marked by the distribution of certificates to participants by Dr. Suja Antony, Director of Health Services, and Dr. Pragya Sharma, Director ANIIMS who expressed their appreciation for the initiative.

The counselling for the admission to these vacant seats will be held on 4th December 2023 at 9:30 AM. Interested candidates who are eligible for this vacant seat are requested to attend the counselling on the date and time mentioned above. If no candidates are available, the seat will be given to the next candidate as per the existing norms.
All eligible candidates who are desirous for taking admission to this course are requested to attend the counselling on the date and time mentioned above. Selected candidate will have to submit all the original certificates along with one set of photostat copies of all original certificates and requisite amount of fees on the day of admission failing which they will not be considered for admission.

Administration issues advisory for candidate of Trade/Skill Tests for Common Category of Group C Matric Level posts
Port Blair, Dec.1: A & N Administration had released a Press Release in the Daily Telegrams dated 22.11.2023 onwards regarding verification of documents/testimonials and to attend the Trade/Skill Tests for the vacancies for which the Written Examination was held on 09.07.2023 for the Common Category of Group C Matric Level posts of different departments under the A & N Administration.
Requests have been made by the Deputy Commissioner, Car Nicobar, Assistant Commissioner, Campbell Bay, that due to non availability of Ships from the Southern Group of Islands owing to cyclonic weather, the shortlisted candidates are unable to attend the Trade/Skill Tests at Port Blair within the stipulated date and time.
Keeping in view the inevitable circumstances, the shortlisted candidates from the Southern Groups of Islands have been requested to attend the Trade/Skill Tests at Port Blair by availing first available ship.
On reaching Port Blair, the shortlisted candidates from Southern Group of Islands have been advised to get their verification of documents/testimonials done from the Recruitment & Examination Cell, Secretariat. After verification of documents/testimonials, the eligible candidates will be called for the Trade/Skill Tests. Till completion of the process of Trade/Skill Tests, the candidates have been requested to stay at Port Blair. Port Blair, Dec 01: It is brought to the notice of the general public that Disaster Warning Sirens have been installed in the premises of Secretariat, DBRAIT, DSS Marine, Chatham Saw Mill (Forest Dept), Police Station Aberdeen, Police Station Pahargaon, Police Station Chatham, JNRM College, Port Blair, Fish Landing Centre, Junglighat, IOC, Forest Guest House Carbyns Cove, Police Station Bambooflat, Police Station, Ograbraj, Police Station, Chouldari, Police Station, Humfrigunj, O.P Wimberlygunj, O.P Ferrargunj, Police Booth, Hati taapu, OP Tirur, Tirur Jarawa Protection Post, OP Radhanagar, Rajiv Gandhi Aquaculture, Kodiyghat, Police Station, Shaheed Dweep, Police Station, Swaraj Dweep, Nimbutala, Rangat, OP 19 Km, R.K Pur, L/Andaman, Fire Station, Hut Bay (L/Andaman), EOC, Car Nicobar, A.E Office, APWD, Teressa, JE Office, APWD, Chowra, A.E Office, APWD, Katchal, EOC, Kamorta and EOC, Campbell Bay. The siren will be tested on 3rd and 18th of every month at 1000 Hrs. During the test, the siren will be blown for two successive blasts for 30 seconds. Siren of Electronic Display Board installed at Police Control Room, State Control Room, Junglighat (Fisheries Dept.), Met Office, MRCC, JOC, INS Jarawa at Port Blair, Fisheries Dept. at Rangat, EOC at Mayabunder, MRCC at Diglipur, Fisheries Dept. at Hut Bay, EOC at Kamorta, EOC at Car Nicobar, and MRCC & EOC at Campbell Bay will also be blown in a similar manner at 1000 Hrs.
Therefore, the general public is hereby informed not to panic during the test of the siren and requested to remain calm during the test blast of the siren on the date and time specified above.

World AIDS Day 2023 organizes by ANACS with the students of School and Colleges
Port Blair, Dec 01: On 1st December 2023 (Friday) Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) organized rally for the Students of School and College for the observance of World AIDS Day 2023. More than 600 students from schools and colleges participated in the rally carrying banners and placards.
Dr, Anil Agarwal, Secretary (lab. & Emp./Par.Aff./OL)/, Sp.secy. (Perl.)/ MD (NHM & NAM), A & N Administration was the Chief Guest and flagged off the rally of school and college students.
Dr. Suja Antony DHS-Cum Vice Chairperson, ANACS, A & N Administration and Mr. Naresh Chander lal, Padma Shree Awardee, Indian Film Director and Producer graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.
Dr. Pragya Sharma, Director ANIIMS also graced the occasion to encourage the students participating in the rally.
Chief Guest Dr, Anil Agarwal, Secretary (lab. & Emp./Par.Aff./OL)/, Sp.secy. (Perl.)/ MD (NHM & NAM), A & N Administration in his address said that the focus should be more on prevention. In early days the awareness programs were for adults and college students, but now it is being done in schools also. There are certain high risk groups that are more prone to this infection and they must be made aware about this virus. We all know that once infected the person will remain HIV positive throughout his life as there is no complete treatment available, but there are medicines, with which the HIV positive can live a long and healthy life.
Mr. Naresh Chander lal, Padma Shree Awardee, Indian Film Director and Producer said that we all need to join hands like a family in the fight against this virus and encouraged the students for their active participation.

The rally concluded at Veer Savarkar Park where the students were given information on HIV and AIDS through drama performed by students of Andaman Law College.
This year’s theme to observe World AIDS Day 2023 is “Let Communities Lead”. Organisations of communities living with, at risk of, or affected by HIV are the frontline of progress in the HIV response. The world can end AIDS, with communities leading the way.
Many more activities and programs are being conducted to observe this day. Quiz competition in schools, Marathon, drama and reels competition in colleges, speech competition and rangoli competition for rural areas. Flash mob will be conducted in the evening hours in front of Cellular Jail, near Fag point, Aberdeen bus stand and in the premises of cinema hall Anand Paradise. Many more rallies and programs are conducted through the Integrated Counselling and testing centres in different islands.
