Port Blair, Nov 21: The cargo vessel MV Chuglam will sail for Car Nicobar on 23.11.2023 (Thu) at 1600 Hrs from Chatham Jetty and will sail back to Port Blair immediately after discharging/loading of Cargo at Car Nicobar.
Further, the vessel MV Chuglam will sail for Campbell Bay via Little Andaman, Car Nicobar, Chowra, Teressa, Katchal & Nancowry on 30.11.2023 (Thu) at 0900 Hrs from Haddo/Chatham Wharf and will sail back to Port Blair immediately after discharging/loading of Cargo at respective ports. Booking of cargo for the above sailings will commence from 22.11.2023 onwards between 0900 Hrs & 1300 Hrs at Commercial Wing.
Loading of cargo for the sailing of the vessel to Car Nicobar on 23.11.2023 will commence on 23.11.2022 (Thu) from 0600 Hrs onwards and for 30th November sailing loading will commence from 28.11.2023 onwards. All the consignors are requested to adhere to the loading schedule in order to maintain the sailing as promulgated. All the consignors are further advised to book the actual quantity of cargo to be transshipped, as no excess cargo will be allowed.

ICAR-CIARI, Regional Station, Minicoy participates in Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra
Port Blair, Nov 21: Regional Station, Minicoy of ICAR-CIARI Port Blair, participated in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra 2023 along with other departments of the administration of Minicoy, Lakshadweep, on November 17, 2023. The rally started from the Deputy Commissioner office in Minicoy to Kodi Beach. On November18, staff of the Regional Station showcased ICAR-CIARI technologies to the public by putting up a stall in the exhibition. The station also demonstrated and displayed all 12 coconut accessions available in the world, including the coconut germplasm of Minicoy. Vegetables, fruits, fodder, medicinal plants, flowers suitable for intercropping in IFS, and various breeds of livestock were explained by the team. About 300 people, including students, participated in the programme, which was inaugurated by Dr. Rahul Rathod, Deputy Collector, Minicoy.
Dr. Gladston Y. Dr. Ajina S.M., Conveners, Mr. Shareefuddeen Hassan, and Mr. Arif M.I. coordinated the programme under the supervision of Dr.S.K. Zamir Ahmed, Nodal Officer, Lakshadweep, and the overall guidance of the Chairmanship and Director, Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, of ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair.
Special National Integration Camp Begins at Port Blair
Port Blair, Nov 21: The Opening Address of the Special National Integration Camp was conducted at Port Blair today. Camp Commandant, Col A Majumdar, Group Commander NCC Group Headquarter Chennai ‘A’ delivered the opening address to the cadets. He emphasized on the significance of such initiatives in building a strong and united nation. Addressing a diverse audience of enthusiastic participants from various states and cultural backgrounds, he urged the cadets to actively engage in activities that promote understanding and respect for different cultures and traditions. The participants were briefed by SLt (ANO) Dr. Kusum Kumari, along with the cadets of A&N islands about the geography, culture, heritage and traditions of A&N Islands. During the event the Commanding Officers, PI Staff, ANOs, and GCIs from Andaman and various participating NCC Directorates were present.
The camp brings together young minds from across the country with the aim of breaking down barriers and fostering a sense of national pride and solidarity. 85 Cadets from 17 NCC Directorates and 95 cadets from A&N Islands are participating in the camp. Participants will engage in a myriad of activities, including cultural exchanges, visits to places of historic importance and discussions on the importance of unity in the fabric of a diverse nation like India.
ICAR-CIARI conducts Vigilance Awareness Campaign – 2023
Port Blair, Nov 21: ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair celebrated Vigilance Awareness Campaign – 2023 with the theme “Say no to corruption; commit to the Nation” during 30th October to 20th November, 2023. Various events were conducted to mark the celebration of Vigilance Awareness Campaign – 2023 by ICAR-CIARI at its Garacharma campus as well as Regional Station, Minicoy and all the three KVKs located at Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The celebration of Vigilance Awareness Campaign – 2023 was started with an integrity pledge taking ceremony by the employees of ICAR-CIARI on 30-10-2023. Gram Sabha on “Corruption-free India” was conducted at Beodnabad Village, South Andaman on 01-11-2023. Online lecture on “Cyber Security” was delivered by Dr. M. Balakrishnan, Principal Scientist, ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad on 02-11-2023 at ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair. Workshop on “Preventive Vigilance” by Dr. I.P. Sunish, Vigilance Officer, ICMR-RMRC, Port Blair was conducted at ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair on 09-11-2023. Virtual training programme on “Procurement Best Practices” was conducted by Mr. Gauranga Ghosh, Senior FAO, ICAR-RC-NEH at ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair on 10-11-2023.
Seminar on “RTI/ Transparency” by Ms. Ragini Kumari, Andaman Law College was conducted at ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair on 13-11-2023. Awareness rally on “Vigilance” was conducted from ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair to Bathu Basti on 14-11-2023. Besides, essay writing competition on “Anti-corruption measures for the nation’s development” was conducted for the staff, school and college students. Drawing competition on “Together Against Corruption” was conducted for the School Students. Finally, Vigilance Awareness Campaign – 2023 was ended with valedictory programme and prize distribution on 20-11-2023 in which the winners of various competitions were felicitated by the Chief Guest, Mr. Prashant Bhadu, Principal (I/c), Andaman Law College. The vigilance awareness campaign was conducted under the Chairmanship of Dr. Eaknath B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI by the team consisting of Dr. Jai Sunder, Dr. Y. Ramakrishna, Dr. T. Sujatha, Dr. T. Subramani, Dr. P. Perumal, Dr. D. Karunakaran, Dr. K. Saravanan, Dr. Rafeeque Rahman Alyethodi and Mr. Shyam Sundar Rao.
‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ held at Uttara & Kadamtala GPs under Rangat Tehsil
Rangat, Nov. 21:The ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ (VBSY) Campaign was held today at Uttara and Kadamtala Gram Panchayats under Rangat Tehsil. The VBSY started by welcoming the IEC (Information, Education and Communication) Van followed screening of video and the Viksit Bharat Pledge was taken by the PRIs, general public, school children and official of various line Departments in both the Gram Panchayats.
A sensitization of Government flagship schemes which include- Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY, PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana –NRLM, PM Awas Yojana (Rural), PM Ujjwala Yojana, PM Vishwakarma, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, Kisan Credit Card (KCC), PM Poshan Abhiyan, Har Ghar Jal – Jal Jeevan Mission, Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village areas (SVAMITVA), Jan Dhan Yojana, Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Suraksha Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, PM PRANAM, etc., to achieve 100% saturation of flagship schemes was held in both the Gram Panchayats.
The programme was followed by various on the spot camps by line Departments such as Health, Agriculture, Civil Supplies etc. The Health Department conducted a thorough health screening, encompassing essential health check-ups such as blood pressure, TB screening, and sugar level assessments. Beneficiaries were distributed ABHA ID Cards. The Agriculture Department organized Soil Health Cards demonstrations and conducted interaction session with farmers for promoting organic farm produce.
Similarly, the CS&CA Department also extended onthe spot services for enrolment of new beneficiaries for PM Ujjwala Yojana and Aadhaar updation. A camp was also conducted, which focused on Jal Jeevan Mission initiatives, offering guidance and support to mitigate water-related challenges in the Gram Panchayats. On the spot quiz competitions were organized for the students on the topic ‘Swachhata Hi Sewa’ and prizes & certificates were distributed to the winners.
Individual success stories are also woven into the Yatra, wherein the beneficiaries of PM Ujjwala, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, PMAY (G) etc., presented ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubani’, a testimony on transformation brought about by the Government’s flagship schemes in their lives.
Cultural programmes on the theme ‘Dharti Kahe Pukar Ke’, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ etc., were also organized by the Women Self Help Groups and local schools in both the Gram Panchayats.
Concluding the programme, the Assistant Commissioner, Middle Andaman expressed gratitude to all PRIs, Officials, school children and participants of the said Gram Panchayats for their enthusiastic involvement and participation.
Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ held at Sippighat & Guptapara Gram Panchayats in South Andaman
Port Blair, Nov. 21: The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is continuing in South Andaman. The IEC Van of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra today reached Gram Panchayat Sippighat Community Hall and was welcomed with shower of flowers and crackers by Smti Jyothi, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Sippighat along with PRI members, School Student, Villagers and Panchayat Secretary. The programme on VBSY was conducted in the presence of Shri Rajender Pal, Block Development Officer, Prothrapur/ Day Nodal Officer-VBSY, South Andaman. Shri Wairokpam Punshiba Singh, IAS and Shri Suvigya, IAS, also graced the occasion with their presence and briefed about the welfare schemes of Govt. of India.
Shri Rajender Pal administered ‘Sankalp’ to the gathering and briefed the gathering regarding various Welfare Schemes of the Central Govt. and policies and stressed on ‘Jan Bhagidari’ for outreach of the benefits of schemes to left out beneficiaries.
In the program, various Departments such as Rural Development, Industries, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Fisheries, Revenue, NABARD, A & N Cooperative Bank, State Bank of India, Health, Social Welfare etc. participated and set up stalls to create awareness about their schemes among the rural public. Registration of villagers was done under various schemes and nearly 144 villagers got registered during the program. Beneficiaries of all Departments shared their stories under ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubani’, to motivate other villagers to avail benefit under the schemes. Cultural programmes were organised by the students of Govt. Middle & Primary School of Bimbilitan, Tylerabad, Sippighat and Invent Public School. The Dance Nritya Academy, Junglighat and SHG members of Sippighat village performed a musical skit under ‘Dharti Kahe Pukar Ke’. The successful beneficiaries of various Departments were felicitated by the dignitaries. Property Cards were also distributed to the beneficiaries of SWAMITVA scheme.
After completion of the programme at Gram Panchayat Sippighat, the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra Van proceeded to GP Guptapara. On arrival of the Van at Gram Panchayat Guptapara, a grand welcome was accorded by the Pradhan, Up-Pradhan, Panchayat Secretary, along with other PRI members and villagers. Shri Gopa Kumar, Tehsildar Ferragunj and Shri Rajender Pal, BDO, Ferragunj also participated in the program.
The program began with a welcome speech by Shri Durlav Das, Pradhan, GP Guptapara followed by screening of recorded message of the Prime Minister of India. The Pradhan, Guptapara administered the Sankalp Pledge to the gathering. A Nukad Natak was presented by the Art & Culture Department on the theme ‘Dharti Kahe Pukar Ke’. Cultural programmes were organised by the students of Govt. Sr. Sec. School Manglutan. The beneficiaries of DAY-NRLM, PMAY-G, SBM-G, MGNREGA, PMFME (Industries), KCC (Beneficiaries), Agriculture, Health (PMJAY), Fisheries, Veterinary, ICDS and Revenue Departments residing at GP Guptapara shared their stories under ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubani’ to motivate other villagers to avail benefits under the schemes.
The Sanitary Workers and students were felicitated for their performances. Line Departments provided on the spot services like Health Camps, KYC updation by CS&CA Deptt. and enrolment under JJBY, SBY, APY, JDY, etc were also organized.
Children Day Celebration at Child Care Institution of South Andaman District
Port Blair, Nov 21: District Child Protection Unit under District Administration, South Andaman organized various programs for the children residing at various Child Care Institutes of South Andaman during the month of November. The Celebration commenced with the screening of the movie for the children on 09th November 2023 in collaboration with Management of Diviyam Theatre, Prothrapur wherein the children enjoyed an inspirational movie.
Further, the celebration was organized for the children at Darussalam Yatheemkhana, Goal Ghar and Observation Home.
On 17th November 2023, the celebration of Children’s Day was organized at Bethany Children Home in collaboration with PANKH NGO wherein the children from Pranab Kanya Sangha, Calvary Children Home, Abhyudaya Complex Ferrargunj and Balika Niketan participated in the program. In the fun filled program, children of these Homes participated in various games and activities with immense joy and enthusiasm. Prizes were given to the winners and participants of the program. The event culminated with the distribution of refreshment to the children.
Such Inter CCI meets are an exposure to a new environment with other children, help them to appreciate, enhance personal and social communication skills, improve general behavior and mental health.

Suresh Kumar, DEO Diglipur inaugurated the Exhibition as Chief Guest at 10:00 am. District child protection unit South Andaman Celebrates “International child Rights Day” at Government Senior Secondary school Hutbay, Little Andaman
Port Blair, Nov 21: The District Child Protection Unit, South Andaman in collaboration with the school authority of Government Model Senior Secondary School Hutbay, Little Andaman on 20th Nov 2023, celebrated International Child Rights Day. The Tehsildar, Mr. Ajoy Mondal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the program whereas the Pramukh, Little Andaman, Mr. S. Parmanathan was the Guest of Honor.
The program began with a welcome address by the school Authority followed by a brief note highlighted by the District Child Protection officer on the functioning of DCPU and various stakeholders in implementation of Child Protection and Child Rights under Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act. Further, the Protection Officer (NIC) presented the keynote address on the significance of the day.
An Awareness session on the POCSO Act was provided by SI Seema Bhowmick from PS Hutbay. On the spot quiz was also conducted during the program, thereafter prizes were distributed to the winners of the various competitions. The Chief Guest of the program, Tehsildar, Little Andaman and the Pramukh, Little Andaman encouraged the children in their address to exercise their Rights along with their responsibilities. The Program culminated with a vote of thanks and distribution of refreshment to the children.
