Member of Parliament visits various puja pandals of Diglipur region
Port Blair, Oct 23: On the occasion of Maha Saptami and Maha Ashtami the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma visited various puja pandals of Diglipur region and interacted with residents of North Andaman.
He appreciated the organisers of all the puja pandals for coming up with innovative and creative ideas for the puja pandals, which attracted thousands and thousands of people from different parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. On this occasion, he greeted all the Islanders and prayed for the prosperity and development of these Islands. The Member of Parliament offered Puja in all Puja pandals.
Stolen Jewellery articles Returned to Owner by PS Ograbraj Police

Port Blair, Oct 23: On 21/06/2022, a burglary was reported and a case was registered at PS Ograbraj regarding theft of gold ornaments weighing about 35.5 grams from a house at Badmash Pahad, Chouldari. The case was entrusted to HC/2336 Bijoy Sarkar, PS Ograbraj. After collecting evidences, the suspect was zeroed but was found to be absconding. During investigation, efforts were made to trace out the accused person by forming different teams. As a result of the physical and technical intelligence, the Police team was able to apprehend Sanjay Kumar Das S/o Shri Dhiren Das (38) yrs, from Subash Gram, Diglipur.
The Police team comprising HC/2336 Bijoy Sarkar, Investigation Officer, PC/1642 Rakesh Narayan, PC/1013 Biplob Das, PC/2190 Agassi Clinton, PC/1029 M Mohammed Arif was formed under the command of the SI Devanand Pathak, SHO, PS Ograbraj, whose efforts led to tracing out the accused. On sustained interrogation the accused disclosed the whereabouts of the stolen gold ornaments which were deposited at various financial entities, Jewellery Shops etc. Some of the gold ornaments were recovered from a financial entity in Junglighat area and a Jewellery shop at Bhastubasti and rest of the gold ornaments were recovered form Subashgram, Madhupur with the assistance of Insp K Binoj, SHO PS Diglipur, PC/1316 Akash Ch. Bepari, PS Diglipur, PC/988 K.P Pandey, PS Diglipur, PC/1670 Radheshyam Hawlader, PS Diglipur, LPC/1368 Anjana Paul, PS Diglipur and PC(D)/3049 Mrityunjay Das, PS Diglipur under the supervision of Shri. Brij Mohan Meena, DANIPS, SDPO Diglipur.
All the stolen gold ornaments amounting to Rs. 2,27,500/- approximately has been recovered. Further, the case has been chargesheeted and all the recovered gold ornaments have been handed over to the owners. The recovery of stolen property in the case has been made due to the efforts made by the team under the overall supervision of Shri Arshdeep Singh Panwar, DANIPS, SDPO (Bambooflat).
General public, Finance companies and jewellery shop owners are hereby requested not to accept any gold ornaments for mortgage without proper verification of bills.

Major Breakthrough – Methamphetamine Drugs Seized Under NDPS Act at PS Diglipur
Port Blair, Oct 23: To conquer the menace of illicit Methamphetamine drugs at North & Middle Andaman District, PS Diglipur proved their mettle once again by going tough against the drug peddlers.
On the basis of credible information received at PS Diglipur on 22/10/2023, a raiding team comprising of HC Santosh Nair, PCs Abubacker Siddique, Samaresh Mistry, Radhesham Hawlader, Devsai Toppo, Soma Dey & Mirthunjoy Das led by Inspr. K.Binoj, SHO PS Diglipur with two independent witnesses under the supervision of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, (DANIPS), SDPO Diglipur reached the spot. Later a suspect person was stopped by the team and conducting a search. During search 01 No. Transparent Polythene sachet containing crystalline powder and shiny glass-like material was recovered. Subsequently, a small quantity of the same was tested through the drug detection kit and sample showed positive result of Methamphetamine. The recovered 01 No. Sachet was weighed and found 2.26gms excluding the weight of polythene sachet. The said accused person namely Rishab Mistry S/o Mr. Ranjit Mistry (18) yrs, R/o Subashgram was arrested and a case has been registered at PS Diglipur under NDPS Act. Further, during the investigation of the case 0.51 grams of Methamphetamine also recovered from the co-accused namely Pijus Das R/o R.K Gram and he was also arrested with all codal formalities.
The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Brij Mohan Meena (DANIPS), SDPO (Diglipur) and overall direction and supervision of Mrs. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.
The general public is requested to pass and share any credible information pertaining to any crime or illegal activities to their nearest Police Station or over phone No.100, 112 & 03192-273344. The identity of the informers will be kept secret and will also be suitably rewarded.
ANTCC conducts party meetings at Billiground
Port Blair, Oct 23: A Delegation of Congress Party under the leadership of ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder and ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker along with Senior Congress Leader Mr. Saji Varghese and Congress Leader Mr. Ameer Bux visited Billyground for attending party meeting and discussed various organizational matters of the party at Billyground.
Further, the team had interaction with the local people, party leaders and workers of Basantipur and discussed various issues concerning the people for many decades.
Congress leaders assured to take up the matter with the competent authorities to resolve all the pending issues at the earliest.
On the occasion, Mr. Swapan Dhali, a villager of Basantipur took the membership of Congress Party and joined the Party with the blessings of Mr. Rangalal Halder and Mr. TSG Bhasker.
Yadhava Rao achieves ACM Title
Port Blair, Oct 23: One more chess player from A & N Islands achieves the FIDE Arena Title. J Yadhava Rao, a chess player from Port Blair made the Islanders proud by achieving the FIDE Arena Title. He is the third player from the Islands to achieve the FIDE Arena Title from A & N Islands.
ACM Yadhava Rao J, a FIDE Rated player from A & N Islands with a rating of 1070, has been awarded with Arena Candidate Master (ACM) title today by the World Chess Federation in recognition of his exceptional play in the FIDE Online Arena (FOA).
Arena Candidate Master (ACM) is achieved by a series of 150 bullet games, 100 blitz games, or 50 rapid online games with a performance rating of over 1100 and the title will be valid for a lifetime; however, acquisition of a higher title replaces any title reference of a lower status.
BVWS organizes felicitation ceremony
Port Blair, Oct 23: The “Baruva Villagers Welfare Sangham” (BVWS), a famous Telugu welfare society of Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has honored the youth of their native Baruva village who got the highest number of job opportunities by succeeding in the selection tests organised by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Port Blair. And also felicitated a player who is the winner of an international level chess title organized by the World Chess Federation.
In a felicitation programme organized at Forest Club, Haddo Ward No.1, the Chief Guest, Miss Vedhita Reddy IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman District, Port Blair has honored Mr. Paila Ravikumar (S/o. Late Sitaram, Haddo) and Mrs. Paila Reshmi Kumari (W/o. Ravikumar) selected for the posts of Junior Engineer; Ms. Timmala Usha (D/o. T Paparao, Bambooflat), Dunna Murali (S/o. Late D Harinarayana, Protrapur), Madanala Karthik (S/o. M Om Prakash Rao, Haddo), Gedela Ramesh (S/o. G Duryodhana, Haddo) who were selected for the post of LDC and Dummu Neeraj (S/o. D Narasingrao, Lillypur) who was selected as Village Level Worker by felicitating with mementos. She also honored Mr. Vanimina Yashwant (S/o. V Eswara Rao, Buniyadabad) who showed the power of Telugu people at island level by winning the international chess title of “Arena FIDE Master ”.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest congratulated the members of BVWS for taking up many welfare programmes in a very short period of time, especially for providing financial support for medical assistance of a poor girl of their village and also encouraging the sportsmen and youth by honoring them in a grand manner.
As part of felicitation programme, prominent guests of Baruva village, Dr. R. Venkata Ramana Murthy, Regional Director, IGNOU; Dunna Eswara Rao, Accounts Officer, Port Blair Municipal Council; Super senior citizen of Port Blair, Paila Duryodhana and also Dunna Jejeswara Rao on behalf of the founder treasurer of Baruva Abhyudaya Sangham and former Vice President of Andhra Association, Port Blair, Late Dunna Vallabha Rao, who provided his invaluable assistance in the establishment of this association, posthumously honored by the chief guest.
