High wave warning for the coast of Little Andaman, A&N Islands: High waves in the range of 3.4 – 3.6 meters have been forecasted till 1130 hours of 08-09-2024. Small vessels have been advised not to ply, near shore. Recreational activities have to be totally suspended as erosion/wave surges are possible.

Port Blair, May 04: As per the Meteorological Department’s weather report, thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over A&N Islands on May 5. Thunderstorm with lightning, gusty wind (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) is likely to occur at one or two places over A&N Islands on May 6.
Thunderstorm with lightning, gusty wind (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) is likely to occur at one or two places over A&N Islands and heavy rain (07-11 cm) is also likely to occur at one or two places over Nicobar Islands on May 7. Thundersquall with wind speed (speed reaching 50-60 kmph) is likely to occur at one or two places over A&N Islands, heavy rain (07-11 cm) is also likely to occur at one or two places over Andaman Islands and heavy to very heavy rain (07-20 cm) likely to occur at one or two places over Nicobar Islands on May 8.
In anticipation of formation of Low pressure area around 07th May 2023 over Southeast Bay of Bengal, Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea from May 8-11, 2023. Those who are in deep sea have been advised to return the coast by 07th May 2023 (afternoon).

Low Pressure area formed over South Andaman sea brings heavy rains in A & N Islands
Port Blair, Dec 05: Many parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands today received heavy rain due to a Low Pressure area formed over South Andaman sea. A press release issued by IMD today forecasted a possible cyclonic storm. According to the release a low pressure area formed over South Andaman sea and neighbourhood at 0000 UTC of today the 5th dec 2022 and persisted over the same region at 0300UTC of today.
It is likely to move West- Northwestwards and concentrate into a depression over Southeast Bay of Bengal by 06th December evening.
Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move West-Northwestwards, intensify further gradually into a cyclonic storm and reach Southwest Bay of Bengal near North Tamil Nadu- Puducherry & adjoining South Andhra Pradesh coasts by 08th December morning.
As per Insat 3Dimagary clouds associated with low pressure area is broken low and medium clouds with embedded intense to very intense convection lay over Andaman sea adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal, the release added.
