Assessment camp for CWSN
Port Blair, Mar 15: An assessment camp for Children With Special Need (CWSN) held today the 14th March, 2018 in the Conference Hall of DEO’s Office, Rangat. All CWSN along with their parents were present in the Assessment Camp.
In the camp, children were assessed by a Medical Officer along with the other Medical staff, PSRTs and other staff of this BRC, Rangat.
Dr. Ramkanta Halder, CMO(NFSG), CHC Rangat along with assistance CHC, Rangat, Examines CWSN and recommend aids and appliances for CWSNs according to their needs and disabilities.
Earlier, Mr. Sushen Mallick, DEO/Coordinator (SSA/RMSA), BRC, Rangat addressed the children and their parents and briefed objectives of assessment camp i.e Education Department has been providing all kind of assistance to boost up their moral sprit and to bring them to the main stream. Providing aids and appliances like MISED and Hearing Aid along with batteries to CWSNs Students.
Indian Coast Guard conducts Pollution Response Training for CG Personnel and Stake Holders
Port Blair, Feb 23: Andaman and Nicobar Group of Islands are highly eco sensitive and the waters around Islands are vulnerable to marine pollution. The Indian Coast Guard is the Central Coordinating Agency (CCA) for responding to oil spill that occurs in the Maritime Zones of India. There have been continuous efforts by the Indian Coast Guard to train all stake holders in oil spill response so that concerted efforts are made in case of any eventuality resulting in accidental spillage of oil. Accordingly, Indian Coast Guard has conducted structured courses as designed by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) for the personnel of Oil Handling Agencies, Resource Agencies, Stake Holders and Indian Coast Guard.
Pollution Response Team (A&N) of the Indian Coast Guard conducted Oil Pollution Response Convention Level-I Course for the first responder from 19-22 Feb 18 at Port Blair. The course was designed to bring awareness on preparedness and response technique related to marine Oil Pollution as a first respondent. Apart from 07 personnel of the Indian Coast Guard, 05 Officers from Department of Environment & Forest, Police Marine Force and Port Management Board participated in the course. All participants were exposed to various theoretical aspects of oil spill properties, behavior, fate and response techniques for containment and recovery. During the course, participants were also given extensive practical training in handling of oil spill response equipment. An exposure was also provided for Health and Safety precautions to be exercised during such operations. Wild life is also prone to high causalities during any oil spill and the method required for recovery and rehabilitation of wild life were also imparted during training by expert from department of forest. Application of Oil Spill Dispersant (OSD) is an important method for responding to oil spill. The participants also visited Coast Guard Air Enclave at Port Blair and were briefed about the aerial application of OSD.

Port Blair, Jan 25: The first Atal Tinkering Lab under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of NITI Aayog (Government of India) will be inaugurated by the Member of Parliament Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray in the presence of Mr. A.Gopi Krishna Secretary Education &Sports at Ummat Public School , Austinabad on 27th Jan 2018 at 0930Hrs.
Atal Tinkering Lab is a mission of the Government of India to create an environment of scientific temperament, innovation, creativity amongst Indian Student .It is a step towards a new India.
Realizing the need to create scientific and cultivate the spirit of curiosity and innovation among young minds. The Tinkering Lab is a workspace, where young minds can give shape to their ideas through hands on do-it yourself (DIY) mode and learn innovation Skills.
Young Children will get a chance to work with tools and equipment’s to understand what ,how, and why aspects of STEM(Science, technology, Engineering and Math).
Atal Tinkering Lab would contain educational and learn “do it yourself” kits and equipment’s on science, electronics, robotics, open source micro controller boards, sensor and 3D printers etc.
The lab activities are designed to spur the spark of creativity, and go beyond regular curriculum and textbook learning .The lab will let students explore skills of future such as design and computational thinking, adaptive learning and artificial intelligence.
121st birth centenary of Netaji Subhash Bose by SFT
Port Blair, Jan 23: The Founder President of Sudhanshubala Foundation Trust Mr. Bhabesh Majumder organized 121st birth centenary of Netaji Subhash Bose and prize distribution ceremony to the students of these islands who have participated in quiz and essay writing completions on the lives of great Heroes of India on 29 10 17 organized by the Foundation as a part of Help-education programme and motivate the students to have vast knowledge of our National freedom fighters, scientists and other great souls of India, at the Multipurpose hall of ALHW today at 11.00 AM. The program was chaired by Swami Amartyananda of RK Mission. The Member of Parliament of Maldaha South Mr. A H Khan Choudhury, Former Minister of State of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Founder President Mr. Bhabesh Majumder , P K Sarkar, advisor of Foundation and Dr Buddhadeb Banerjee, convener of Trust.
In his speech, Swami Amartyananda has briefed about the life of Netaji, his love for mother India and struggle to free India from the shackles of British rule. He has also appreciated the devotion of Mr. Bhabesh Majumder towards the upliftment of the society in many ways and love for the students.
The MP Mr. AH Khan Choudhury has dealt with the life, revolutionary zeal, secular out look, fighting spirit of Netaji and also recorded is appreciation towards the philanthropic activities of Mr. Bhabesh Majumder for whom helping the needy People, children /students and promote love and respect towards the Nation amongst the school students is next to godliness.
Every year he is taking full financial responsibilities of 12 needy but meritorious students of these islands and also of mainland to get admission in MBBS who fulfills the criteria fixed by the Trust with a hope that after they become doctors, they will give free medical services to poors at least for two years.
Mr. Bhabesh Majumder in his address said that wiping tears off the disadvantaged children /needy people and bring smile on their faces gives him a lot of satisfaction and a sense of purpose.
“The society has given me everything and now it’s my turn to repay in whatever best way I can do for the societies” said Mr. Majumder. He also said that since his birth he follows the foot print of Netaji and other great sons of India and got inspiration from them to contribute his mite towards the development of indian societies.

Third prize a TAB and Mementos won by Subham Joydhar,class XI,M Pooja,class X, Dweepika Burman,class XI and T Harshavardhini,class XII of VKZP, Crescent Pub School, Nirmala Sr Sec school and KEM School respectively.
In quiz competition, Vicky Mishra,Abhishek Paul, Shruti Singh and R Jyoti of Navy Children School won first position and awarded Laptops and Mementos while G Swati, Sherin Jonson, D Dharini and T Uday Kumar of Model Sr Sec School won second position and awarded Desktops and Mementos. Port Blair, Nov 01: The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, Department of Teacher Education, has decided to re-open the registration for in-service untrained Primary School Teachers who have missed applying for the Course earlier. Such desirous Teachers working in Govt. /Govt. Aided/Privately managed recognized schools can register themselves at NIOS portal from 1st to 7th Nov-2017, information said.
Coast Guard Commander (A&N) reviews Operations during Annual Conference – 2017
Port Blair, Aug 22: Inspector General KR Suresh, Tatrakshak Medal, Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N) presided over the Annual Operations Conference of all CG District and Station Commanders to review Operational / Maintenance Philosophy and Infrastructure & Project developments towards the growth of Coast Guard in A&N Islands. The conference was attended by all Coast Guard District/ Station Commanders of the A & N Region including Commanding Officers of Coast Guard Ships and Establishments.
The Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N) in his maiden conference appreciated the solidarity shown by Personnel of Coast Guard towards local population and emphasized that ICG Units should work in tandem with A&N administration for safety, security and welfare of Islanders. The Flag officer asked one and all to put maximum efforts towards attaining requisite goals in a planned manner.
The Commander brought out the fact that the Coast Guard Region (A&N) has increased surveillance during last one year and was instrumental in saving 39 lives at sea and 04 medical evacuations.
During last six months period, Coast Guard conducted 99 Community Interaction Programmes towards spreading safety and security awareness amongst fishermen in the remote islands of A&N. He reiterated that numerous exercises conducted by Coast Guard resulted in bridging the gaps in coastal security and would augment our preparedness towards the threats by adversaries.
The Flag Officer also highlighted the commendation by Hon’ble Lt. Governor to Coast Guard (A & N) Region on the occasion of Independence Day -2017 for bravery and professional excellence displayed during SAR operation resulting in saving crew of MV ITT Panther.
The Flag Officer reviewed various infrastructure projects being undertaken at remote Islands for improving Coast Guard operations efficiency and reach. The daylong conference was concluded with the Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N) delivering his closing address. A communiqué received from PRO Coast Guard.
Islands Marine Fishing rules, fishermen advised
Port Blair, Aug.03: All fishers of the Islands have been advised to abide by the Provisions of Andaman & Nicobar Islands Marine Fishing Rules. The non motorized and motorized non mechanical boats (with engines of 30HP or less) have been strictly advised to fish only in Zone A, i.e. from 0 to 6 Nautical Miles from the appropriate Base line and motorized mechanical fishing boats to fish only in Zone B i.e. 6 to 12 Nautical miles. Two children escape from city School Camp; PCR Van hands over them back to school authorities

Port Blair, May 04: Two children reportedly escaped from a school camp yesterday mid-night and were sighted by two residents Pathar gudda. The reason behind such escape is yet not known.
According to reports, people who sighted these two kids at Pathar gudda during the odd hours reached to them and enquired about their background.
It is learnt that the younger child instead of saying anything asked them, when the bus will arrive. On repeated questioning, the younger boy said that he is a resident of Minnie Bay, Perera Enclave and the older one said that he is a resident of Haddo.
As per reports, people who sighted them told Andaman Sheekha that the older was unable to speak Hindi.
Feeling something suspicious, the matter was reported to the police following which a PCR Van immediately reached the spot and after proper enquiry the Police Personnel handed both the children to a nearby school.
As this case involves minors, the name of the school was not revealed. However, Andaman Sheekha is hopeful that the Education Department and the A & N UTCPCR will surely investigate into this matter to find out what led these children to escape from camp.
Beneficiary gets Fish Transport Vehicle under Government Subsidy Scheme
Port Blair, Apr 06: Shri Jaydeep Kumar Dey, Adhyaksh Zilla Parishad, South Andaman has handed over the key of Bolero Camp Fish Transport Vehicle to Shri Allahuddin R/o Ograbranj from South Andaman District under the scheme “Subsidy for procurement of Fish Transport Vehicle” of Fisheries Department on 06.04.2017 in presence of Smti Shashi Kaushal, Chief Executive Officer, and Shri C. Hamza, Assistant Fisheries Development Officer, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman.
The Adhyaksh advised the beneficiary for proper utilization of the fish transport vehicle for upgrading livelihood.
