Port Blair, June 13: Kharif campaign is being conducted in various gram panchayats of Diglipur zone with the objective to motivate the farmers to achieve increased output by growing high yielding varieties, improved package of practices and in turn higher productivity. In continuation of Kharif campaign, a programme was organized at Nabagram on 11/6/2012. Mr. Ashok Das, Pradhan, Nabagram Gram Panchayat expressed that ‘Kharif campaign is the right program on right time at right place’ during in his inaugural address, He appreciated the efforts of agricultural department for conducting various programmes for farmers benefits and urged the farmers to attain maximum benefit out of it.
Mr. Ramesh Kumar, Assistant Director (Agri.), Diglipur briefed about the motto of Kharif campaign and emphasized on use of improved and mechanized farm implements which would avoid the drudgery of labour. He also highlighted about the schemes of HVA, RKVY and appealed the farmers to avail benefit from the different schemes of the department. The Departmental officers and officials namely Smt. Shakila Nawaz, A.O.(Agri.) and Agriculture Assistants Smt. R.Bhu Bharthy, A.A., Mr. Hari Ram, Mr. Sudhangshu Halder, Smt.S.Manju has covered various topics like seed treatment, seed replacement, IPM and INM measures, SRI for the paddy growers and other schemes like HVA and RKVY in detail. Literatures on related topics were also distributed among the participants in all the villages. Field visits were also conduced as per the grievances of the farmers to observe the field related problems. During the feed back session, the issues raised by the farmers were non-receipt of Kisan Credit Card. Participants included both men and women farmers and farmer friends.
The Kharif campaign was also successfully conducted at Sita Nagar (9/6/2012) and Kalighat (11/6/2012) along with the involvement of concern AFA and BTM (ATMA), Diglipur.
