Port Blair, June 13: Kharif campaign is being conducted in various gram panchayats of Diglipur zone with the objective to motivate the farmers to achieve increased output by growing high yielding varieties, improved package of practices and in turn higher productivity. In continuation of Kharif campaign, a programme was organized at Nabagram on 11/6/2012. Mr. Ashok Das, Pradhan, Nabagram Gram Panchayat expressed that ‘Kharif campaign is the right program on right time at right place’ during in his inaugural address, He appreciated the efforts of agricultural department for conducting various programmes for farmers benefits and urged the farmers to attain maximum benefit out of it.

Mr. Ramesh Kumar, Assistant Director (Agri.), Diglipur briefed about the motto of Kharif campaign and emphasized on use of improved and mechanized farm implements which would avoid the drudgery of labour. He also highlighted about the schemes of HVA, RKVY and appealed the farmers to avail benefit from the different schemes of the department. The Departmental officers and officials namely Smt. Shakila Nawaz, A.O.(Agri.) and Agriculture Assistants Smt. R.Bhu Bharthy, A.A., Mr. Hari Ram, Mr. Sudhangshu Halder, Smt.S.Manju has covered various topics like seed treatment, seed replacement, IPM and INM measures, SRI for the paddy growers and other schemes like HVA and RKVY in detail. Literatures on related topics were also distributed among the participants in all the villages. Field visits were also conduced as per the grievances of the farmers to observe the field related problems. During the feed back session, the issues raised by the farmers were non-receipt of Kisan Credit Card. Participants included both men and women farmers and farmer friends.

The Kharif campaign was also successfully conducted at Sita Nagar (9/6/2012) and Kalighat (11/6/2012) along with the involvement of concern AFA and BTM (ATMA), Diglipur.

Scored 96.20% marks and got 2nd Rank in A&N Island in her AISSC Examination 2011-12. Ms. Sumon has been felicitated by the staffs of A&N State Coop. Bank., by awarding her a cash prize of Rs. 5000. Mr. Bhagat Singh, Chairman, A&N State Coop. Bank Ltd. handed over a cheque of Rs. 5000 to her in the Branch Manager’s Meet 2012 on 10th June, 2012.

Out of 6580 students 6417 declared Eligible for Qualifying certificate

Port Blair, May 22: The CBSE Class X results in respect of all the 98 schools of Andaman & Nicobar Islands was announced on 22nd May 2012 which has been downloaded from the website of CBSE and the school wise results as per grading system introduced at Secondary School level from last year indicating total candidate appeared/Eligible for Qualifying certificate and Eligible for Improvement (EIOP) have been compiled.
Out of 6580 students appeared for class X examination in A & N Islands 6417 students have been declared Eligible for Qualifying certificate and 161 students declared as Eligible for Improvement (EIOP). The overall percentage of candidates/Eligible for qualifying certificate is 97.52 as compared to 95.80 during last year.
A total of 61 students have been awarded with 10.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). 49 schools have achieved 100% results of which 36 schools are of UT Administration.

Port Blair, May 22: A local daily in its issue dated 10.05.12 published a news item on AADHAR cards stating that general public are confused about the AADHAR cards and need clarification on this issue. It is for the information of general public that pursuant to the decision of Unique Identity Development Authority of India (UIDAI), Planning Commission, the AADHAR Enrollment in the Island started on 15.07.2011. It was decided to cover the entire population of 3.8 lakh under the AADHAR Enrolment as such a total of 1.66 lakh residents were enrolled by 24.02.2012 in South Andaman. Out of the enrolment 1,38,483 AADHAR number is generated AADHAR Card is printed and distributed through the Post Office.

For enrolling the residence under AADHAR an Enrollment Agency was engaged and the Agency after collecting the photography and Bio- metric details uploaded the data through internet in the Central Server at TECH Centre, Bangalore. The TECH Centre accepts the uploaded data through a de-duplication protocol to eliminate the double Enrollment by a residence so as to issue Unique Number to a residence. After the process of the de-duplication, AADHAR cards are regenerated by a random system. That is why the AADHAR cards are not received family wise or area wise. All the residence who is enrolled shall receive the cards in due course of time through the Post office directly atthe address recorded at the time of enrolment, the Director (CS&CA) said in a communication today.

Mayabunder, May 20: On 27, February 1988 a major fire broke out at Mayabunder Market, which destroyed dozens of shops and caused huge damage to many shop owners.

For the immediate relief the then Assistant Commissioner, N & M Andaman, Mayabunder vide his order No. 3-14(P)/934 dated 12th April 1988 had allotted temporary sites to altogether 45 shopkeepers in another site in Mayabunder which was meant for children’s park.

As per the terms and conditions of the said order the said site was allotted on temporary basis only for six months subject to further extension by the competent authority.

Further it was also stated in the order that no allottee can sub let or sell the said sites without the consent of the signing authority. According to available detail, since that date no extension has been given to the said beneficiaries.

Now it has been found that ignoring the conditions mentioned in the order 50 percent shopkeepers have sold their sites for huge amounts to other parties without the consent or approval of the competent authorities.

Want of a children’s park at Mayabunder is felt for the last 24 years by the general public of Mayabunder but instead of ensuring the existence of the playground, the fire victims have been allowed to sell plots the playground. The authorities concerned should allot proper shopping complex to the actual victims of the fire accident and develop the area again as children’s park.
