Port Blair, Dec 14: A POCSO case has been registered in Mayabunder Police Station recently by parents of a IX class girl child. According to reports the girl was contacted by a boy from Bihar over Social Media App nearly three months back and since then the girl was continuously harassed by the boy. The girl was under huge stress following which her parents lodged a police complaint recently at PS Mayabunder. The police team of PS Mayabunder is further investigating this matter.
Port Blair, Dec 13: Mr. Nityanand Rai, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Govt. of India during his recent visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands visited Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Bhavan (BJP Bhavan), Middle Point, Port Blair on 11th of December during evening hours to meet the Karyakartas of Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Mr. Nityanand Rai met karyakartas of the State Committee of Bharatiya Janata Party along with karyakartas of Minority Morcha, Yuva Morcha and Mahila Morcha. During the visit of the Minister of State for Home Affairs the Karyakartas of Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands explained their issues to the Minister under the leadership of Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Mr. Vishal Jolly, Former State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands was also present during the occasion and interacted with the Minister.
Mr. Jyothirmay Bawali, State General Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands welcomed the Minister. Mr. Maheshwar Lal, State Office In-Charge Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands explained the issues being faced by the Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and also presented the work report during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A written political feedback of the major issues of Andaman and Nicobar Islands was also submitted to the Minister. The major demands included Constitution of a State Assembly or immediate reinstatement of the Pradesh Council in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, One time relaxation for the constructed buildings in violation of the Building Bye-Laws of the Port Blair Municipal Council, Harassment of Old Encroachers by the Officers of Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Revival of Tourism in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Issue of quarry and sand procurement from mainland and foreign countries, filling up of vacant posts, Exorbitant increase of stamp duty charges and circle rates, Publishing and Review of report of Vivek Rae committee on report on regularisation of land matters, Decisions taken in the IDA should be implemented in letter and spirit, Construction of Bridge between Chatham and Bambooflat, problems arising because of privatisation of Electricity Department, Implementation of all the announcements made during the PM’s visit and several other issues were raised.
Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands also took up the issues of the resettlement of Sri Lankan Tamil Settler Families of Katchal Island to a non-tribal area with the Minister. The Minister assured to look into the issue and do the needful for the welfare of the Sri Lanknan Tamil Settlers of Katchal Island.

Port Blair, Dec 11: In connection to a NDPS case, which was registered on 26 October 2020 at PS CSS, the team of CCS has now arrested the main accused of the case from Kolkata.
As per details, earlier a team of four police personnel from PS CCS, headed by Sub Inspector Biswajit Prasad was sent to Koltata to arrest the main accused, Mr. Shantanu Jana. After the arrest of the main accused, he was brought today to Port Blair and was produced to court, from where he was sent to Judicial Custody.
The team was formed under leadership of SHO PS CCS, Inspector Mahesh Yadav and under overall supervision of DySP (CID) and SP (CID).
Port Blair, Dec. 10: The Minister of State for Home, Mr. Nityanand Rai currently on a 4-day visit to the Islands today visited COVID Care Centre at DBRAIT Dollygunj where the Minister was briefed about the Administration’s effort towards containing spread of COVID -19. The Minister also met the frontline workers, Doctors taking care of the patients at COVID Care Centre at DBRAIT. The Commissioner–cum Secretary (Health), Dr. V Candavelou, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Mr. Suneel Anchipaka were also present during the visit.
The Secretary (Health), Ms. Kriti Garg through a power point presentation informed the Minister about the COVID-19 status in A&N Islands and the measures taken to restrict its spread. The DHS, Dr. Omkar Singh apprised the Minister about the health care provided and monitoring of the patients at COVID Care Centre.
On Dec. 11, the Minister will inspect the ongoing project sites viz. Andaman Trunk Road (ATR), Garacharma Hospital, 20 MW Solar Project at Dollygunj, Submarine OFC Landing Station at Corbyn’s Cove.
Port Blair, Dec 09: Mr. Y Staya Kumar, National Secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party and Prabhari of Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands is on a two day visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands. On his 2nd day in Port Blair Mr. Staya Kumar visited the Tirupathi Balaji Temple at Haddo and offered prayers for peace and happiness of the Islanders of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Mr. Y Staya Kumar visited Cellular Jail and Flag Point . At Cellular Jail he paid tributes to Veer Savarkar at his cell.
Later he visited Kerela Samajam where he chaired the State Committee Meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He met all the karyakartas of BJP present at the State Committee Meeting. Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, State Vice President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands presented the welcome address on the occasion. Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands then gave the presidential address. Smti. Protima Banerjee, Ex-Councillor, Ward No. 6, PBMC managed the stage for the State Committee Meeting of Bharatiya Janata Party.

Port Blair, Dec 08: It was a great relief for the BSNL customers of Hut Bay Islands as many parts of Little Andaman started getting 4G signal since yesterday evening. Many residents of Hut Bay had already converted their SIMs into 4G SIMs and hence they were instantly getting 4G signal while many others were seen rushing to BSNL office of Hut Bay to get a 4G SIM today.
However, it is learnt that many other areas of Little Andaman are still not getting 4G signals and it is not clear when other areas of Little Andaman will get similar 4G service of BSNL. BSNL officials of Little Andaman were not available over phone for a comment.

Port Blair, Dec 07: A distress call was received by Aberdeen Fire Station today regarding man falling into a well in Doodh Line area of Port Blair city. Following complaint a team of Aberdeen Fire Station reached the spot and brought the body out of the well and shifted the body to G B Pant Hospital.
The team of Fire service consisted of SI Saibal Sinha, PC Ibrahim and others. The reason behind this incident is not clear yet, police is conducting further inquiry in this matter, it is learnt.
Port Blair, Dec 06: An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter Scale was reported from Diglipur region today. The earthquake occurred 55 kilometers south-southeast of Diglipur at 7:05 pm at a depth of 10 kilometers. No casualties have been reported so far, news agency ANI reported.
Port Blair, Dec 04: Child Welfare Committee in accordance with JJ Act under Social Welfare deals with children in need of care and protection. As part of its function the Child Welfare Committee, South Andaman has made a significant achievement by representing a minor girl back to Port Blair who had run away to Mumbai by train from Kolkata. She was noticed by a woman police Naik at the railway platform at Navi Mumbai. Who handed her over to the child line Mumbai.
The child line later handed her to CWC Navi Mumbai considering her as child in need of care and protection. The Child Welfare Committee South Andaman took initiative and pursued the matter related to the wellbeing and repatriations of the said girl child with its counterpart at Navi Mumbai which continued until her safe return. Due to Covid-19 pandemic the process of repatriation was delayed.
Ultimately the child was brought back to Port Blair on 21/11/2020 after a period more than 13 months escorted by the same woman police constable who found the girl child at the Navi Mumbai railway platform.
The girl was handed over to CWC (South) which handed the girl to her family. The CWC (South) has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to its Mumbai counterpart, Deputy Commissioner railway police, DCPO, NGOs and UNICEF for their great contribution in safe return of the minor girl back to Port Blair CWC (South) is thankful to District Administration (SA) and District Police SA for extending their support in entire process, a release from Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, South Andaman said here today.

Hut Bay, Dec 03: One youth of Little Andaman died today in a bike accident that took place near V K Pur, 20 KM, Little Andaman.
According to reports two brothers were going towards V K Pur in a bike from Hut Bay and at around 3.00 PM today, due to heavy rain their bike skidded, because of which elder brother, the pillion rider, Mr. Sridham Biswas, 35 years sustained grievous injuries.
Although both the brothers were wearing helmet but according to police sources both were under influence of alcohol too.
After the accident the pillion rider was rushed to the PHC R K Pur, where Doctor declared him critical. Later at around 7.15 Mr. Sridham Biswas succumbed to him injuries. As per information a case has been registered in this regard under appropriate sections.
