Schedule of chartered flights for Jan, Feb & March Announced

Port Blair, Jan 04: Air India has confirmed the dates of operation of chartered flights on Port Blair-Chennai-Port Blair sector upto March, 2015. As per the schedule the services will be available on  17th January, 2015, 31st January, 2015, 7th February, 2015, 21st February, 2015, 7th March, 2015 and 21st March, 2015.

Reservation of tickets for above flights will start 10 days prior to departure of each flight. Accordingly, for the flight scheduled on 17th January, 2015 the reservation will start from 7th January, 2015. Passengers are requested to submit their requisition in the prescribed format available on website www.and.nic.in. Only one ticket will be issued per applicant. However, in case of family, a maximum of 4 tickets will be issued per application.

Reservation of Tickets: From Port Blair the passengers will be required to submit their application at the Ship Ticket Advance Reservation System (STARS) Counter, Directorate of Shipping Services, Phoenix Bay Jetty,  Port Blair between 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM on all working days for reservation of tickets for travel between Port Blair to Chennai. The reservation will close at 11.00 AM on the preceding day of departure of each flight.

From Chennai – The passengers will be required to submit their application to the office of the Assistant Director of Shipping Services, A&N Administration, No.5 Rajaji Salai, Opp. Custom House Chennai-1 between 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM on all working days for reservation of tickets for travel between Chennai to Port Blair. The reservation will close at 11.00 AM on the preceding day of departure of each flight.

Quota for Islanders and Non-Islanders:

Out of 144 seats, 101 seats are reserved for the islanders and employee of Central Govt./PSU/Defence personnel posted in A & N Islands and remaining 43 seats are reserved for non-Islanders. The unsold tickets in each category (Islanders/Non-Islanders) will be made open 72 hours prior to departure of flight for utilization by both Islanders and non-Islanders at the fare applicable to them.

Cost of Tickets: The ticket cost per passenger for one way between Chennai and Port Blair will Rs 5000 for Islanders on production of Islander card/      Local certificate and for employee of Central Govt./ PSUs/Defence personnel posted in A & N Islands on production of certificate issued by HoD/Head of office   –    Rs. 5000/- one way trip.

For Non-Islanders it will be  Rs.11600/- one way trip.

The reservation will be done on first come first serve basis by the respective reservation offices in Chennai and Port Blair. Fare will be collected from the applicants alongwith the application and a list will be prepared and sent to Air India Ltd. for issue of formal tickets.

Delivery of printed tickets:

The passengers can collect the printed tickets from the respective reservation office at Chennai/ Port Blair during office working hours from 3 days prior to departure of each flight or can collect the same from the representative of A & N Administration at the entrance of the airport at Port Blair/ Chennai 2 hrs before departure of each flight. Also the booking references i.e PNR / Ticket No will be communicated to the confirmed passengers through SMS.

Tickets for outlying areas: For outlying areas of Nicobar District and North & Middle Andaman District, the following quota of tickets has been allotted: DC, North & Middle Andaman:         10 seats from Chennai to Port Blair and 10 seats from Port Blair to Chennai

DC, Nicobar: 10 seats from Chennai to Port Blair and 10 seats from Port Blair to Chennai

The Islanders belonging to the Nicobar and N & M Andaman District may apply in the prescribed format to the respective Deputy Commissioner’s Office. The Deputy Commissioner of these 2 Districts will forward the names of the short listed 10 passengers to the Deputy Director (CA) 72 hrs. prior to departure of flight.

Cleanliness drive by Raj Niwas staff

Port Blair, December 25: As part of observance of ‘Good Governance Week’ from 24th to 30th December 2014 and in continuation of the ‘Swatch Bharat’ initiative, a cleanliness drive was carried out by the staff of LG’s Secretariat outside the premises of Raj Niwas. Secretary to Lt Governor and all officers and staff of Raj Niwas participated in the cleanliness drive. Secretary to LG urged the staff to also conduct similar cleanliness drives in areas where they live and try to bring about community participation in such efforts.

Chartered flight services between Chennai-Port Blair to commence on 3rd January, 2015

Port Blair, Dec 23: The Chartered flight service on Chennai-Port Blair-Chennai sector will commence on 03.01.2015. As per the schedule the Airbus A 320 aircraft of Air India Ltd will depart from Chennai at 0940 Hrs. from the Chennai airport and will reach Port Blair at 1155 hrs. On its return flight the aircraft will depart from Port Blair at 1235 hrs. and will reach Chennai at 1455 hrs.
Further, as per the information received from M/s Alliance Air Ltd., the flight services between Vishakapatnam-Port Blair-Vishakapatnam sector which was earlier planned on 24.12.2014 is postponed due to shortage of pilots currently being faced by the airline. On receipt of confirmation of date, the date of commencement will be conveyed.
For Chartered flight service on Chennai-Port Blair-Chennai sector the Air India Airbus A 320 aircraft will carry 144 passengers one way and each passenger will be allowed to carry a maximum of 15 kgs registered baggage and 8 kgs hand baggage free of cost.
Tickets at Port Blair will be reserved/issued by the office of the Directorate of Shipping Services, A & N Administration Port Blair.
At Chennai reservation will be done in the office of the Assistant Director of Shipping Services, A&N Administration, No.5 Rajaji Salai, Opp. Custom House Chennai-1. Procedure for reservation of tickets will be 1. Application will be made on prescribed format. The format is also available on A&N Administration’s website www.and.nic.in; 2. c) Reservation for the flight scheduled on 3.1.2015 shall commence w.e.f. 26.12.2014. Similarly, application for reservation of tickets forforthcoming flights shall be received from the next day of publication of schedule for such flights.

No refund will be allowed for cancellation of ticket (s), if there is no demand for the cancelled seat and it goes unoccupied due to cancellation. However, 20% cancellation charges will be recovered otherwise.

Two grievously injured in road accident at Pathargudda

Port Blair, Dec 21: Two persons including a driver of cargo jeep today suffered serious injuries when the driver lost control over the speeding vehicle and dashed road side shops at Pathargudda.
According to eyewitnesses the vehicle came in full speed and demolished front portion of a few shops at Pathargudda.
A bike and an auto were also damaged in the accident.
“Just because today is Sunday no one else was injured, in any other day such accident would have killed atleast a dozen of people,” said an eyewitness.
Both the injured persons sitting inside the Jeep, including the driver were immediately rushed to nearby Hospital. Both the persons are said to be out of danger now.
According to sources the driver was driving the vehicle under influence of liquor and a case has been registered in this regard.

MAJOR EMBARRASSMENT TO ADMINISTRATION : NSCBSEC Opposes Administration’s Move to Install Netaji’s Statue near Vivekananda Stadium

Diglipur, Dec 19: The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Statue Establishment Committee today organized a public meeting at Diglipur bazaar to oppose the installation of statue near Vivekananda stadium.
High level sources said that Andaman and Nicobar Administration has decided to install the same Statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose right opposite to the Administrative Block of Diglipur. The committee said that they were just informed by the administration about the decision and they are not agreed to this.
Earlier the foundation for the statue had already been laid at the earmarked land on 03-01-2014. The Member of Parliament on 15, October 2014 sat for a Hunger Strike at Subhash Nagar village of North Andaman protesting against removal of the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and demanding immediate re-installation of the same at the same place. As per the assurance letter a high level committee consisting of Principle Secretary (Revenue), Secretary Law, Deputy Commissioner etc visited Diglipur on 20th October 2014 and also visited the spot to see whether the site in question is permissible spot for erection of the statue or not. Later the committee submitted the proposal to install the statue at stadium.
The Secretary NSCSEC Mr. M L Das told Andaman Sheekha today that the statue is owned by them and they collected money for it. “We brought the statue from mainland and our request to transport subsidy was also denied by the administration. Then how can administration take away our statue and install it somewhere else?” he said.
Putting blame on Administration he said that “We did not decide about the place for installation of statue. We wanted the statue to be installed at the centre of the Dolphin Junction but it was Administration, which suggested this place and removed the electric transformer from the spot for the smooth installation. The Panchayat members of Subhashgram and other officers attended the function. The Police also did not interfere earlier. We on behalf of people of Subhashgram people need this place only. We have already send a petition to Prime Minister and President of India with proof that after the Supreme Court’s Order the Administration and other people installed statues on road side. About 1300 people signed the petition to reinstate the statue at the same place.
Adding that the committee did not encroach any land for the installation Mr. Das added “We never encroached the land we are having the NOC for installation of statue on the said land. Installation of the statue of Capt Ashim Bhattacharya at Junglighat Park by Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President ANTCC on 25 July 2013, Unveiling of statue of Anna by M K Stalin on 18.10 2013 at Light house junction and Param Veer Chakra Memorial at Marina Park this year are the clear cut examples of the Road side installation of statues.”
