Rangat, June 06: 15 Kilogram of Venison was seized from an Omni at Rampur Chowk, Rangat this evening at 05:00 pm.
As per reports, Mr Barun Halder, S/o Gopal Hawaldar, 24 years and a resident of Kaushalya Nagar was held with 15 kg of Venison.
It is learnt that the police has also seized the Omni.
As per reports, the police had handed over the venison and Mr Barun Halder to the Forest Department for further investigation.
Station Head Officer PK Abdul Arif, PC 1083 Asif Malik, PC 345 Rakesh Kumar conducted the raid.
One arrested for raping minor tribal girl of Kamorta

Port Blair, June 05: One person has been arrested from Kamorta Island for raping a minor tribal girl. According to reports, the arrest has been made on 3rd June.
Sources said that the tribal girl aged 16 years found with an 18 year old Chottanagpri boy at a house in Kamorta.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Superintendent of Police, Nicobar District, Mr Deepak Yadav said that they have arrested the accused and medical test of both victim and accused has been done.
“For the next step that is recording of the girl’s statement in front of the magistrate will be done soon looking at the availability of the ship for Port Blair,” Mr Deepak said.
Major fire averted at Indian Bank

Port Blair, June 03: Prompt response of Fire Brigade team prevented a major catastrophe at the Indian Bank, Port Blair branch this morning, at Babu Line.
At about 10:20am, because of malfunctioning of a Generator Set smoke began to emanate inside the bank. When Fire Services was informed they reached the spot and controlled the situation on time.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Inspector S S Khan said that this happened due to overheating of Generator Set. Thick wisps of smoke were released into the air, but the strong smell of burnt plastic made it easy for bank employees to detect the threat and address the situation.
A minor fire was also averted from the office of Andaman Nicobar Social Welfare Board which occurred due to Short Circuit this morning at around 11am.
Junior Engineer of APWD raided by CBI

Port Blair, June 02: Markande Tiwari, Junior Engineer in-charge Assistant Engineer of Andaman College Project, Chakkargaon was raided by CBI for amassing use disproportionate asset to the tune of Rs. 91 lakh.
As per reports, during the raid a lot of property papers were recovered along with many alleged incriminating documents including property paper of a lady, a Daily Rated Mazdoor, whose house is being constructed at ABC Colony and it is alleged that a sum of Rs 60 lakhs is already been invested in the construction of the building, till now.
As per sources, an FDR to the tune of Rs 18 lakhs approximately have been recovered along with a cash of Rs 3 lakhs to which Markande Tiwari was unable to explain to the CBI.
It is learnt that CBI conducted eight simultaneous raids yesterday morning including Havelock.
CBI Raids APWD’s Chakkargaon site office

Port Blair, June 01: A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today raided APWD’s Chakkargaon Site office and picked up the JE for questioning.
However, it is not clear in which case the raid has been conducted. Sources said that later in the evening the JE was released.
136 Myanmarese Nationals repatriated

Port Blair, May 31: A total of 136 Myanmarese Nationals were released this afternoon from the “Open Distress Camp’ Prothrapur and were later repatriated to their country after completion of their sentence at Andaman.
As per reports, the Consul General of Myanmar, Kolkata arrived here today for completing the formalities with the Andaman Administration after which all 136 Myanmarese were released for Myanmar.
It is learnt that a special flight also arrived here from Myanmar to pick these people.
These people were kept in a camp at Prothrapur Jail since last few months after the completion of their sentence. It is also learnt that some more Burmese Nationals will be released in the days to come.
Minor girl rescued from Mazaar Pahad

Port Blair, May 30: Child Line, a non-government organization (NGO) with the help of Aberdeen Police rescued a minor girl from Mazaar Pahad on 25/05/2016.
According to sources, Child Line received a call from the minor victim, where the victim informed Child Line of the torture she is enduring from her husband since last year.
Upon receiving the complaint, a team of Child Line immediately reached the house of the minor, along with a team of Aberdeen Police and after informing the child welfare committee, the team took the girl under their protection. It is learnt that the girl has been given a safe shelter.
As per the details available with Andaman Sheekha, the girl got married at Radha Govind Temple, RGT Road a year before without the presence of any Priest and both were staying together since then.
As per details the boy used to torture the girl on regular basis and also used to threaten her of dire consequences.
It is also came to the light that the parents of the minor girl are staying separately, which also added to the plight of the girl. As per the sources, the Aberdeen Police has arrested the accused namely Mr. Mukesh, 23 years a resident of Hawa Ghar, Imli Basthi and presently he is under judicial remand.
Gamblers arrested from Bambooflat

Port Blair, May 29: A team of Bambooflat police, under the leadership of SI Madhab Halder, SHO, raided a location close to Raju Garage, Bambooflat on 28 May 2016 at 2215 hours and arrested seven people for gambling. Altogether Rs. 34,000 cash amount has been recovered from them.
Jarawa rescues cast away fisherman

Port Blair, May 27: A cast away fisherman who reached coastal areas of Jarawa Tribal reserve anyhow after his dinghy capsized in bad weather, has been rescued by members of Jarawa Tribal Community.
According to details on 20 May two fishermen, Dev Shankar Biswas and Mahendran of Guptapara village went out for fishing from Manjeri. Sadly due to bad weather their dinghy collapsed and capsized in high sea.
Anyhow Mahendran managed to reach to the shore from where he was rescued by Jarawa tribes. It is learnt that for two days members of Jarawa Tribal Community took good care of Mahendran. They also offered a shirt to the fisherman, who was almost naked after his boat capsized.
Later some Jarawa Tribes brought the fisherman to Collinpur, from where the fisherman came to Police Station and intimated about the accident. A police team later went out for patrolling and found remains of the dinghy and also the body of Dev Shankar Biswas, who could not manage to reach to the shore.
Expecting mother killed in road accident at Baratang

Baratang, May 26: Lack of basic road safety awareness claimed two lives today at Baratang, when a lady was hit by a STS bus infront of Baratang APWD office at around 5.30 am.
The accident took place when Mrs Ganga Devi, W/o Sarvana, R/o Oralkatcha was crossing the road in front of APWD office, after collecting water for her home.
The local STS bus was coming from Bhaludera to Nilambur jetty. The bus stopped in front of APWD office to disembark the passengers. In the meanwhile the lady was crossing the road and she was just infront of the bus, when the driver, without seeing the lady, started the bus.
The lady, who came under the bus, was rushed to the PHC Baratang, where she succumbed to her injuries. The lady was pregnant and as per report the child also died with the mother. The driver of the STS bus, Shri Manoj was arrested and further investigations are on.
