Port Blair, July 04: The PS Aberdeen police team with senior officers has launched a special campaign to aware general public about their safety. The police team of PS Aberdeen and senior officers are now visiting several residential colonies and requesting people to install CCTV Camera, wherever possible, so that in case of any crime in their area, police team gets support from CCTV footages to nab the culprits.
In recent days CCTV footages have helped in cracking many cases. Police believes that in residential colonies like citizen colony, friends colony etc a few CCTV cameras can ensure better safety of people of the entire colony.
This is a good move from Police Department, hope that people will come forward to ensure their own safety.
Youth in serious condition after his car hits parked truck

Port Blair, July 03: A youth is in a very serious condition after his speedy car hit a truck this morning at around 03:00 am in front of Government Petrol Pump, Light House.
As per reports, the youth went out to roam the city in his Hyundai Verna Car without informing his parents and was driving the car at a very high speed. Reports say that while he was going towards the Seashore road he lost his control, while crossing the Government Petrol Pump area and hit the parked truck so hard that the right side front wheel of the truck almost came out.
As per sources, the driver of the car suffered major injuries on his face and both the legs.
Inquiry already being initiated in Campbell Bay fraud case: CGM

Port Blair, July 01: The Chief General Manager, Bharat Sanchar Nigam
Limited, Mr R N Jha yesterday addressing a press conference at the
main office BSNL has assured the media that inquiry has already being
initiated against the employee posted at Campbell Bay, Mr. Tirthankar
Biswas who allegedly manipulated an amount of Rs. 33 lakhs from
department’s account.
Answering to the question raised by Andaman Sheekha, Mr R N Jha said
that chargesheet against the employee will be filed soon. However he
also said that the whole amount has not yet been recovered from the
fraud employee but he assured that there is nothing to worry and the
department will recover the pending amount very soon.
Tirthankar Biswas a telecom technical operator collected nearly 33
lakhs from the BSNL customers to deposit in the BSNL account but
instead of that he transferred all the money in his account.
Many people of Campbell Bay, Diglipur (where he was earlier posted)
and Port Blair have also alleged that Tirthankar Biswas has taken huge
amount of money from them in cash but never returned.
Allahabad Police Team arrest woman from Car Nicobar

Car Nicobar, June 30: The Allahabad Court recently ordered Monica Francis, suspect in a theft of worth Rs 17 Lakh Jewelry, to be taken on transit remand. The visiting Dhoomal Gunj Police team yesterday arrested the woman from Car Nicobar under section 457/380 IPC.
According to the sources, the husband of the accused, a senior Air Force officer was earlier serving at Dhoomal Gunj, Allahabad and it is alleged that the alleged accused has committed the theft at Dhoomal Gunj, where the matter was reported.
Sources further said that the three member police team has flew this afternoon back to Allahabad with the accused.
Sailors Union of India gets approval from the Central Committee
Port Blair, June 29: The Sailor Union of India (SUI), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, which was constituted recently has been approved by the central committee of the Sailor Union of India, Mumbai.
The Union will work for the welfare and issues/ grievances of the seafarers in the islands. The Sailors Union of India is affiliated to Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS).
The member of the committee includes Mr Liju Thankachan as Coordinator, Mr Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Mr Raja, Joint Secretary, Mr Manoj Lal while Mr S Bhoomi, Mr Kalidas, Mr Anand S, Mr G Srinivasan and Mr Bheema are the members of the committee
Crew on board vessel Samudra Ratnakar dies

Port Blair, June 28: A Crew of MV Samudra Ratnakar, a survey ship, died onboard the ship yesterday.
Soon the ship berthed the Hope Town Jetty to handover the body to local authorities so that the body could be sent to Mumbai, the native of the deceased.
As per reports, the body later shifted to the Mortuary of G B Pant Hospital after Post Mortem.
As per sources, it is learnt that everything was planned to send the body to Mumbai today but due to some reasons it could not be done, hence the body will now be sent tomorrow.
Knife attack at Lillypur; FIR registered against one

Port Blair, June 27: An FIR has been registered at PS Chatham today against one person of Lillypur, Haddo for attacking another person with knife.
According to reports this evening the accused had a fight with his mother under heavy influence of liquor and when he was going to hit his mother, his brother intervened.
The fight between two brothers took ugly shape and the accused brought out a knife and injured his brother, who had actually come to the rescue of their mother. A case under section 324 IPS has been registered against the accused and later he was arrested.
Man arrested for break-in and theft at General Store

Port Blair, June 26: A 24 year old man Manotosh Mondal S/o Tarok Mondal was arrested by the Tylerabad police for allegedly breaking in a General Store, Nathan Home Needs situated at Prothrapur and stealing a cash of Rs 77000 on 23/06/2016 midnight.
As per reports, the same theft after stealing the cash from the General Store went to Pathargudda from where he broke-in an Automobile Shop and stole an amount of Rs. 7 – 8 thousands.
Both the shop owners reported about the break-in, the next morning after they found the shop ransacked and the amount kept in the shop missing.
After the case was reported a team under the overall supervision of DySP, South Andaman and Station Head Officer, Tylerabad, with his team investigated the matter and arrested on suspect on 24th Midnight.
However, it is learnt that the police has recovered the whole amount from the theft yet, but it is believed that soon the police will recover the amount as the team has taken a 6 day remand of the accused.
Incidents of increasing Cobra sighting a bad sign: Experts

Port Blair, June 24: Suddenly there is a jump in the incidents of sighting of King Cobra in Port Blair city. As per experts such increase in number of sighting is not a good indication for ecology.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha an expert of snakes, who does not want his name to be quoted, said that presently this is not the season for the snakes to come out, just because the greenery of the islands is completely lost, the snakes are coming out and looking for safe shelter and those are residential area. This is a dangerous sign.
“If the population of the snakes will keep on decreasing, the population of rats will increase which will in future definitely lead to too many diseases. It seems that the food chain of these Islands has been disturbed,” he said.
As per reports, it is not the season but even though since last two months more than 8-10 King Cobra snakes were rescued from these Islands.
It is also learnt that from last 4-5 months more than 30 snakes, mostly King Cobra Snakes were rescued by the forest Department.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha today, Mr Manjit Singh, Deputy Ranger, Snake Squad urged the people that if sighted not to try any stunt with the snake. He urged the people to just keep a watch if snakes are sighted and inform the snake squad at 03192245229 (24 hours helpline).
Yet another King Cobra snake rescued

Port Blair, June 23: A team of snake squad, Forest Department, today rescued a King Cobra snake from the house of Mrs Nirmala situated at Dairy Farm near Shiv Mandir.
As per the Deputy Ranger, Snake squad, Mr Manjit Singh the weight of the snake is about 2.5kg and the length of the snake is around 7ft. The snake was caught at around 07:30pm.
He further said that it is also expected that there is a male snake roaming at the same place and as soon as the team receive a call, the male snake will also be rescued.
