Port Blair, May 10: Mr. M Vinod, State Vice President & Prabhari Shaheed & Swaraj Dweep, BJP Andaman and Nicobar Islands has highlighted the problems being faced by people of Shaheed Dweep.
In a letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Mr. M Vinod, State Vice President said that the fight against Corona virus has intensified in the second wave and the efforts of Andaman & Nicobar administration in tackling this virus is highly commendable.
In his letter he pointed out some of the genuine problems being faced by the islanders of Shaheed Dweep. He pointed out that as no boats are plying between Shaheed Dweep and Port Blair, farmers of Shaheed Dweep are suffering heavy loss as they can’t sell their vegetables.
He further added that the dairy farmers of Shaheed Dweep, who relying on selling milk are forced to throw away tons of milk as no boats are available to transfer milk to Port Blair.
“Several patients in Shaheed Dweep have been referred to GB Pant Hospital for treatment of their ailments. Unfortunately, due to the non availability of ferry, they are also suffering heavily” Mr. Vinod added.
He added that at Port Blair, some patients of Shaheed Dweep who have been discharged from GB Pant Hospital are awaiting to return to their home.
“It is a financial burden for them to be camping at Port Blair and they shall not be able to do so for a much longer time,” Mr. Vinod added.
