Port Blair, Oct 15: In an eagerly awaited event, the groundbreaking NEXON 3.0 was launched in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Saturday. The occasion was graced by the presence of Mr. Roshan Kumar Trigunait, Chief Manager of SBI, who attended as the chief guest. Alongside him were Chairman Gennext Motors’ Mr. Inderjeet Khurana and Managing Director Gennext Motors’ Mr. Sagar Khurana.

Gennext Motors’ Managing Director addressed the gathering with excitement, emphasizing the significance of the day. He highlighted the automotive industry’s continuous evolution, marked by technological and design innovations. The launch of NEXON 3.0, he noted, was not just the introduction of an SUV but the revelation of a future vision.

Chief Guest Mr. Roshan Kumar Trigunait also delivered an enlightening speech and had the honor of unveiling the latest masterpiece NEXON 3.0.

The event featured a cake-cutting ceremony and honouring booking customers of NEXON 3.0, including Ms. Sweta Singh, Ms. Geeta Singh, Mr. Hari Prasad, Mr. Madan Pal, Mr. Krishnan Kumar, and Mr. Vasant Veer.

Port Blair, Oct 10: The 1st Edition of the Mahindra Great Escape – one of India’s renowned off road adventures concluded successfully in Port Blair under the Mahindra Adventure umbrella. Nineteen Vehicles from the Mahindra Stable participated in the converted trail drive & off roading event.
The event was flagged from Jadwet Petrol Pump, Aberdeen Bazaar by Mr. Vishwendra , Danics, Secretary cum Director Transport in the presence of Mr. Vikas Singh , Terminal Manager , Indian Oil, Lead sponsors .
The event presented an opportunity to explore the beautiful scenic drive from Port Blair to Chidyatapu along with difficult obstacles from tackling slippery inclines and descents to navigating over rocks and crossing streams, it put both the driver and their machines to the ultimate test. The event saw the involvement of the entire stable of Mahindra vehicles but mainly extreme off roader – Thar 4×4 each representing the company’s tough and rugged DNA. This iconic Mahindra SUV successfully took on the arduous and slushy terrain of Andamans in the lap of nature.
Event culminated with beach clean-up at Bada Balu as part of the CSR activity.
The event was organized by Jadwet Trading Company, authorized dealer of Mahindra in Andamans in partnership with CASA Andamans, a local off-roading Club.

Port Blair, Oct. 9: It was observed that the Berthing Jetty of Yeratta was tilted approximately 20 cm towards the sea and therefore it was directed that the Jetty is currently unsafe for berthing of vessels. Considering the safety of passengers and vessels, the Port Management Board (PMB) was forced to suspend the operation of vessels from Yeratta Jetty so as to prevent any untoward incident.
To facilitate the people and ensure supply of essential commodities, daily vessels to Long Island from Nimbutala and Port Blair has been started by DSS. Considering the difficulties being faced by the school children, patients etc., it was decided by PMB and DSS to position one pontoon at Yeratta Jetty so that the ferry services could be resumed.
Accordingly, one pontoon was handed over by PMB to DSS on Oct.4 considering the tide availability. All precaution has been taken into account by PMB and DSS as per High Water Tide and Currents and availability of Tugs, Mooring Boats etc. to take the Pontoon safely to Yeratta Jetty. The joint operation of PMB and DSS was successful and the Pontoon has been positioned at Yeratta Jetty on Oct.6, 2023 and the ferry services has resumed. The entire operation was carried out by PMB with the assistance of DSS and under the supervision of CPA, PMB along with the guidance of the Secretary (Shipping).

Baratang, October 10: Heavy traffic congestion gripped the Adazig area of Baratang Island today as multiple heavy vehicles got stranded on the muddy road surface. The incident unfolded this afternoon at around 12:15 PM, leaving hundreds of ATR commuters and local residents stranded for nearly five hours. The situation induced stress and panic among the public, particularly those traveling towards Diglipur and Mayabunder.
The gridlock was triggered by a loaded cement truck getting stuck in the loose mud, effectively blocking the road. Finally, by 5:45 PM, the road was cleared, allowing the traffic to flow again.
Compounding the issue, recent rainfall has turned the under-construction NH4 stretch into an accident-prone area. The general public has raised concerns over the unplanned work approach of NHIDCL and the lack of proper supervision, which has resulted in immense suffering for commuters.
Looking at the current condition of the NH4 stretch, it’s evident that the public, including pregnant women, senior citizens, and children, are facing significant hardships. The disrupted movement of vehicles along this route has also led to extensive traffic jams.
Previously, NHIDCL had initiated road upgrading works in the Baratang region, which involved a considerable amount of earth being deposited on the road. Unfortunately, this has become a recurring problem after every short bout of rain, inconveniencing residents and ATR commuters. The situation worsened after heavy rainfall in the area in the past couple of days, making the road exceedingly slippery and muddy.
ATR commuters are now demanding swift action from the administration to address the alleged negligent work practices of NHIDCL, which continue to plague them with daily transportation challenges.
Furthermore, the incident had a significant impact on the availability of mobile network services in the Shastri Nalllah of Adazig area, making it difficult for individuals to share information with the police in real-time.
Fortunately, someone informed the police of the situation, prompting the police officers at PS Baratang to take action immediately. Mr. Arun, in charge of NH Kadamtala, and his team worked tirelessly to clear the stuck truck from the road and perform necessary repairs to enable the smooth movement of vehicles.
The stuck truck was successfully removed at 5:30 PM, and thanks to the efforts of the police team at PS Baratang, the traffic jam was cleared. Passenger buses and trucks finally reached Nilambur Jetty at 6:30 PM and were released from the Middle Strait police checkpoint at 7:25 PM.
