Port Blair, Jan 02: Amidst the hustle and bustle at the State Library, where document verification for Graduate Trainee Teacher posts in the Education Department is in progress, some local youths as well as leaders from ANTCC and NSUI, raised objections against arrival of large number of Mainland candidates for the ongoing verification process.
The ANTCC and NSUI leaders voiced concerns over the document verification process for which a large number of non-islanders candidates have allegedly arrived by flight from the mainland for the verification.
Expressing objections, they emphasized that job opportunities emerging in the islands should be exclusively reserved for the Islanders. They raised objections particularly against provisional certificates presented by some candidates, arguing that such certificates, referred to as “handwritten provisional certificates,” should not be accepted.
The leaders insisted that the administration should prioritize jobs for islanders and not entertain verification of documents from individuals arriving from the mainland for employment. They urged the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to adhere to their demands.
This led to a commotion, with heated exchanges between the leaders and some mainland candidates, particularly concerning the acceptance of handwritten provisional certificates.
The leaders stood firm on their stance, calling for a more stringent approach to the verification process. They maintained that the jobs available in the islands should be reserved for the residents, and the administration should refrain from verifying documents of individuals coming from the mainland.
