Port Blair, Mar 06: On the basis of a report received from the Intelligence agency, regarding suspicious anti-national activities of a staff engaged at Jetty area, a case has been registered at PS Central Crime Station, CID under the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
On investigation, it was revealed that a temporary staff namely P. Waseem, resident of Wright Myo, Bambooflat, had shared sensitive information related to national security with an unauthorized person. Their communication over Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp unveiled details on Naval ship schedules/movements.
Further, it was also found that a female had lured the accused in friendship and persuaded him to share crucial information affecting national security. The accused person P. Waseem has been arrested and is in Police remand. His links are being investigated to unearth the involvement of other accused persons.
General public are requested to stay vigilant and aware. Do not accept any friend request in social media from unknown persons. Chief Secretary to inaugurated 8 additional classrooms for Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya (VKZPV) at Shore Point
Port Blair, Mar. 5:The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, as the chief guest today inaugurated 8 additional classrooms for Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya (VKZPV) at Shore Point constructed by Zilla Parishad South Andaman under Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission (SPMRM). The Chief Secretary cut the ribbon and unveiled the plaque in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Arjun Sharma, IAS, Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Up-Adhyaksh, Shri Boominathan, CEO, ZPSA, Ms. Smitha R, IAS, PRI members, Principal, staff & students of the school marking the inauguration of the asset.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary congratulated the Adhyaksh and the entire team of ZPSA for taking up many developmental projects for the benefit of the rural people within a very short span of time. Works taken up and completed in a transparent manner leads to development of an area and inclusive growth, he said.
The Chief Secretary underlined the need for concentrating more towards providing quality education to the children for their better future and to lead a dignified life. He said, education is and always will be the first priority for A&N Administration. He said that for the smooth functioning of the schools in A&N Islands, the posts of teachers which were lying vacant for last 10 to 15 years are being filled. Apart from this, Principals, Vice Principals are being appointed and from now onwards there will be no shortage of Principal, Vice Principal and Teachers in schools across the Islands. Now, it is upto teachers and the parents for imbibing good values in the children which is very essential for the development of a good society, the Chief Secretary remarked. Teachers should put extra effort towards imbibing moral values among students apart from their normal studies which, the Chief Secretary said, is very important for the overall development of a student. He mentioned that good moral values enable a person to lead a disciplined life which ultimately leads towards development of a good society, in particular and a prosperous Nation, as a whole.
The Chief Secretary inspected the building and also planted a sapling in the school premises.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Shri Arjun Sharma said that the inauguration of the new classroom is a boon for the school as well as children residing in the area. It is the collective responsibility of all of us towards the optimum utilization of the newly built physical infrastructure, the Deputy Commissioner said adding that the authorities should also pay attention towards the annual maintenance of the physical assets created for the benefit of the general public.
In his address, the Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh thanked the Chief Secretary for inaugurating the classrooms. He said, this project has been executed by the Engineering Wing of the ZPSA at a cost of Rs. 2 crore under Rurban Mission. Tender have been floated for other allied works in the school, he added.
Welcoming the chief guest and others present on the occasion, the CEO, ZPSA, Smt. Smitha R. informed that this asset has been created under the Rurban Scheme and was completed in a time bound manner. Children now have added facilities with the inauguration of the new classrooms, she added.
The students of the school presented welcome song and patriotic dance befitting the occasion drawing loud applause from the audience. The function concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by the ZPM, Shore Point Constituency, Ms Dhana Rekha.
Stern Action Directed Against Indiscipline Among Election Duty Staff
Port Blair, Mar. 5: Taking serious note of indiscipline in cases reported among staff assigned election duty, the Returning Officer, ANIPC has directed to initiate stern action against any defaulters. Showcause has been issued to Poll Officers who did not appear for the first round of training.
The Returning Officer has further strictly directed all Staff on Election duty to ensure that duties assigned to them are completed as per rules and ECI guidelines. No deviation from any written guidelines shall be tolerated. Any lack of discipline shall be dealt as per the strictest possible provisions.
Further, the RO, ANIPC has directed that all Polling Officers should maintain strict decorum and ensure that they maintain and display integrity and impartiality in their conduct and day to day affairs.
Member of Parliament Demands Construction of Modern Bus Terminus in Diglipur
Port Blair, Mar 04: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has demanded construction of a modern bus terminus in Diglipur Bazaar area.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, he emphasized the pressing need for adequate transportation infrastructure to serve the significant population of Diglipur.
He mentioned that regions such as Rangat and Bambooflat have already received modern bus terminuses and Islanders of those regions are experiencing major relief. He argued that Diglipur, too, deserves similar amenities, particularly in the Diglipur Bazaar area, to cater to the transportation needs of its residents.
The absence of a proper bus stand in Diglipur has led to inconvenience for locals, especially during adverse weather conditions. He pointed out that a modern bus terminus would provide shelter from the scorching sun and heavy rain, offering much-needed respite to commuters, including students who currently have to wait under makeshift shelters or in front of shops.
The Member of Parliament underscored the importance of infrastructure development in light of anticipated growth in tourism. With the completion of two major bridges on NH4, tourism in the region is expected to witness a significant boost. Therefore, he stressed the urgency of establishing a modern bus terminus in Diglipur to accommodate the influx of tourists and ensure their convenience.
Member of Parliament demands urgent Replacement of old STS Buses of Little Andaman
Port Blair, Mar 03: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has raised serious concerns about the deteriorating condition of State Transport Service (STS) buses in Little Andaman Island.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, he highlighted the alarming reports received from the public regarding the poor state of many STS buses.
According to the Member of Parliament, numerous complaints have been received citing issues such as torn seat covers, missing seats, and windows and frames emitting excessive noise during travel, which significantly disrupts the comfort of passengers. Of particular concern are reports indicating the substandard condition of STS buses, which are run for school students, posing potential risks to the safety of students.
Recognizing the critical role of public transportation in ensuring accessibility and mobility for citizens, he requested for immediate action to replace all old buses in Little Andaman with new ones in a phased manner. Additionally, he has proposed that the old buses be relocated to Port Blair for comprehensive repair works to enhance their longevity and efficiency.
Aswar Pal Singh, Renowned Chef of Andaman receives World Book of Records Title

Member of Parliament demands age relaxation for eight years to the aspiring candidates in respect of filling up 413 vacant posts of Primary School Teachers
Port Blair, Feb 29: Referring to the Vacancy Notice issued by Education Department A/769/2023 – RMIS CELL- EDN_AN /65435/1010 dated 14.02.2024 for 413 posts of Primary School Teacher in Various Mediums, the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma today mentioned that as per the notified recruitment rule for the posts of Primary School Teacher, the upper age limit for the candidates without any kind of relaxation is 30 (thirty) years which gets extended upto 40(forty) years in respect of DRMs, contract employees and teachers engaged under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan in terms of A&N Administration circular no. 45/1998-PW dated 19.09.2011.
In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, he pointed out that there are large number of educationally qualified and Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) passed candidates serving in Public aided schools and Private schools who are not able to avail this lifetime opportunity to apply and seek public employment against the 413 vacant posts of Primary School Teacher as being overaged.
The Member of Parliament requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to take cognisance to the fact that during the past 10 years only on two occasions the post of Primary School Teacher was filled up and that too very few in number as a result of which such a large vacancy of PST to the tune of 413 posts has arisen.
He said that the administrative delay caused in filling up of these posts in regular intervals has given rise to large numbers of qualified local youth becoming over-aged due to passage of time without getting any opportunity to participate in any recruitment examinations.
He pointed out that the administration has given due consideration to the continuously serving DRMs, contract employees and teachers engaged under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan by extending their upper age limit upto 40(forty) years in terms of A&N Administration circular no. 45/1998-PW dated 19.09.2011. As this benefit of age relaxation is not extended to the teachers serving in public aided and un- aided schools in the Islands it had rendered many many qualified teachers overaged for applying for posts, he added.
He mentioned that a similar scenario has occurred earlier also and to provide opportunity in public employment to the overaged unemployed youths of the Islands, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor in the year 2016 had granted an upper age relaxation of 8 years for both male and female candidates for the recruitment of GTT and PST.
In this regard the Member of Parliament requested to grant one time relaxation of 8 (eight) years to the prescribed upper age limit of 30 (thirty) years for both male and female for recruitment to the 413 post of Primary School Teachers .
LOTE raises concerns Over Delay in Mazdoor Recruitment Process at Divisional Forest Office in Wimberlygunj
Port Blair, Feb 28: A delegation from the Living On The Edge (LOTE), consisting of Mr. Abhay Kumar, President and Mr. O Bashir, Ex Pradhan, Mannarghat called upon the Chief Secretary of Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, today to address the prolonged delay in the recruitment process for Mazdoors under the Department of Environment & Forest.
The delegation highlighted the concerns regarding the recruitment of Mazdoors at the Divisional Forest Office in Wimberlygunj. Despite the implementation of a fair recruitment procedure, the final list of selected candidates was published on November 30, 2023.
Expressing their dismay, the delegation emphasized that the recruitment process had spanned almost eight years, causing distress among the candidates who had successfully cleared all tests and examinations. Despite the passage of more than three months since the publication of the final list, selected candidates have yet to receive their offer letters.
The delegation expressed grave concerns over the mysterious environment surrounding the delay, raising questions on the department for withholding appointments and failing to issue offer letters to the selected candidates. They stressed that the delay is unjustifiably prolonging the process of filling the hard-earned positions of Mazdoors.
In the larger public interest, the delegation urged the Chief Secretary to intervene in the matter and direct the concerned officer to expedite the issuance of offer letters to the selected candidates without any further delay.
The delegation thanked the Chief Secretary for his attention to this matter and expressed hope for swift action to resolve the issue and ensure justice for the affected candidates.
Earlier, at the first instance Shri. Abhay Kumar, congratulated the administration led by Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, for successfully organizing the 3rd Rozagar Mela in an organized manner.
12 Jyotirlingas sthapana by Member of Parliament at Radha Krishna Temple, Wimberlygunj
Port Blair, Feb 26: Sthapana of 12 Jyotirlingas took place at the Radha Krishna Temple, Wimberlygunj by Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and his wife, Mrs. Vinita Sharma today.
The event witnessed an overwhelming turnout of devotees, eminent personalities, and the general public, who fervently participated in the puja proceedings.
The Sthapana of these 12 Jyotirlingas, which are different devotional representations of Lord Shiva such as Somnath, Mallikarjun, Mahakaleshwar, Omkareshwar, Kedarnath, Bhimshankar, Kashi Vishwanath, Trimbakeshwar, Vaidyanath, Nageshwar, Rameshwaram, and Grishneshwar, marks a momentous occasion for devotees in the region.

Member of Parliament raises demand to Finalize Circle Rate for VS Palli and Sita Nagar Villages of North Andaman region
Port Blair, Feb. 25: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to Finalize Circle Rate for VS Palli and Sita Nagar Villages of North Andaman region.
In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor the Member of Parliament mentioned that a large number of islanders of the North Andaman region are waiting for finalisation of Circle Rate for VS Palli and Sita Nagar Villages of North Andaman.
He added that several years back the Andaman and Nicobar Administration had issued orders regarding circle rate of all areas of this UT but for VS Palli and Sita Nagar Villages circle rate issue remains unresolved.
The Member of Parliament pointed out that this issue has created significant challenges for the residents, as they are unable to conduct land transactions without an established circle rate.
In this regard, he requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to direct the concerned department to expedite the process of finalizing the circle rate for VS Palli and Sita Nagar Villages.
