Port Blair, Dec 19: Generous public of Andaman and Nicobar Islands have once again set an example of openhandedness and kindness.
By contributing some amount each, a large number of Islanders have made complex operation of Barun Sarkar possible in Mainland hospital. After operation Barun Sarker is now feeling great. Although it will take six long months to fully recover but he has got rid from the non-stop unbearable pain, which he was suffering since last nearly one year.
Barun Sarkar, a carpenter by profession, suffered a serious injury in his spinal cord while lifting a heavy nearly one year ago.
Since then he was bedridden for several months, unable to move his lower part of his body. Lone bread winner of his family, Barun Sarkar had to leave his job and become dependent on his wife, who is a nursing mother and hence can’t go out for work.
Ultimately Barun had to take shelter in his Mother-in-Law’s house and remained dependent on the old woman for every small and big needs.
After operation Barun says he gets continuous sensation on the right foot but there is no pain. Doctors told him that in a few months he will be fine however, atleast six months is required for total recovery.
