Naveen Nagar, Jun 03: A 71 year old lady was found dead inside her house at Naveen Nagar, Diglipur today. The victim, Sabita Baul, w/o M N Baul was residing alone in her house.
When her son reached her house from Port Blair today, he found that the front door is closed from inside.
When there was no one reply from inside, he reached the back side of the house and found it was open.
Entering inside the house he found his mother dead and also found some cut marks. The police is still investigating the matter and it is still not clear whether this is a case of murder. Further details are awaited.
Elephants ransack five homes at Diglipur; villages Being Monitored

Parangara, Diglipur, May 27: The Elephants, belonging to Forest Department yesterday ransacked five houses at Parangara area, Diglipur. Out of five, two houses were completely damaged. Kishorinagar Out post police and forest personnel reached the spot and inspected the area this morning. The police and forest department are presently monitoring the area.
Such vandalism by Elephants have left the people of the region deeply scared, it is learnt.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha Asst Conservator of Forest, of Diglipur, Mr. Dinesh Kumar confirmed that a Forest Department’s elephant damaged five thatched houses at Parangara area out of which two are badly damaged.
The loss assessment is being done by the Department. A committee consisting Pradhan of that area, Tehsildar, Range Officer chaired by Deputy Forrest Officer will approve the assessment. If the damage is below the Rs 10, 000/- then DFO can directly approve otherwise the compensation amount has to be approved by the PCCF.
Power Outrage in Diglipur region due to Heavy Rain

Diglipur, May 28: Heavy rainfall has disrupted normal life in Diglipur region mainly because of power outrages. Entire Diglipur region suffered heavy power cuts for several times yesterday. The Diglipur panchayat and Khudirampur panchayat area are worst affected. There was power cut since yesterday night to this evening 830pm in these areas. The Airtel and BSNL networks also seem to have collapsed many areas of North and Middle Andaman.
N & M Andaman Cyber Crime Cases; One accused arrested from Dhanbad, Jharkhand

Mayabunder, May 27: The Andaman-Nicobar police arrested a cyber criminal under Barbada police station in Dhanbad district on Thursday night, who had duped a large number of residents in North Andaman region, especially Mayabunder and Diglipur.
A joint team of Andaman-Nicobar and Dhanbad police conducted the raid in Manjhialdih Madhugora village under Barbadda police station and arrested Ranjit Kumar Saw in cyber crime.
While the kingpin of the gang Sita Ram Das and other members of the gang manage to escape. Sita Ram is a resident of Dumriyatand-Biraajpur village under Barbadda police station, sources said.
Altogether three cases of Cyber Crime are registered at Mayabuder and five at Diglipur region related with Online Banking, Credit card, Debit card fraud and cheating through mobile, considering which the team of Andaman and Nicobar Police was sent to Dhanbad.
The accused was taken into transit remand soon after arrest and this morning the accused reached Mayabuder where he was produced before the court on Sunday. The Court reportedly sent the accused to Judicial Custody till 8 June, 2018.
As per sources in one particular case the amount has finally deposited in the account of this accused by the Kingpin of the case.
Bike hits Moped: one dead

Diglipur, May 25: In a tragic road accident yesterday a shopkeeper of Diglipur died on the spot, while another motorist suffered some injuries.
As per reports yesterday night at 8.00 PM one shopkeeper Mr. Khagan Biswas (38), R/o Subhash gram, was crossing road in his moped along with his six year old kid, when suddenly he was hit by a racing bike, which was coming from the direction of Bazaar. A 23 year old youth, A J Anuj Nair was driving the bike it is learnt.
The impact of the accident was so deadly that the moped rider fell on the ground and died on the spot. He was immediately rushed to CHC Diglipur, where he was declared brought dead. The bike rider, who also suffered injuries, was admitted in the same hospital. Luckily the six year old kid survived the accident without any injuries.
Meanwhile, considering the tensed situation additional IRBn and Police Jawans were deployed at hospital and near the accident spot. The situation is being closely monitored by police, under the supervision of Dy S P Diglipur. The Post Mortem was carried out early this morning, it is learnt.
One commits suicide at Diglipur

Diglipur, May 22: A resident of Subhashgram, North Andaman, Mr. Tapan Bhaktha, S/o Late Lalith Mohan Bhaktha committed suicide today by consuming pesticide.
An UDFIR filed has been registered in PS Diglipur in this regard and further investigations are on. The cause of the suicide is still not known.
Man slips and dies at Diglipur

Laxmipur, Diglipur, May 22: Tapan Sutradar S/o Krishna Kanta Sutradar aged about 35 years, R/o of Ward No 1 at Laxmipur died this morning near his house after slipping inside a nallah.
As per sources, he was carrying a cement bag to his home and while crossing the wooden log across the nallah he slipped and fell into the nallah. He was brought to CHC Diglipur but declared brought dead. The police investigating the matter further.
Rice beer recovered at Kalighat

Minor girl molestation accused sent to Judicial Custody

Port Blair, May 21: The accused of minor girl molestation case of Paschim Sagar Gram Panchayat of Diglipur, a 23 years old youth has been sent to Judicial Custody for 14 days. He was arrested by the PS Kalighat yesterday and produced before the Special Court at Port Blair today. The POCSO case was registered at PS Kalighat U/S 7/8 of POCSO Act. As per details he had allegedly sexually abused a minor girl by trying for molest her in absence of her parents.
Sources said that out of trauma and shame the minor girl had consumed pesticide yesterday after the attempt of the accused. She was later shifted to PHC Kalighat and from Kalighat she was later shifted to CHC Diglipur.
Minor Girl Consumes Pesticide after suffering Molestation attempt; Boy arrested

Kalighat, May 20: In yet another case under POCSO Act, a youth of Paschim Sagar, North Andaman, has been arrested today by police for attempting to molest a minor girl in absence of parents. According to reports, the victim, consumed pesticides after the incident and she was shifted to PHC Kalighat immediately, from where she was shifted to CHC Diglipur. The accused boy, 22 years has been arrested immediately by PS Kalighat. He will be produced to court tomorrow. Further details are awaited.
