Diglipur, June 28: Today four Myanmar nationals have been apprehended from Pan Nallah area at Radhanagar Gram Panchayat at Diglipur.
Since last two weeks the police was carrying out the combing operation in the area. Yesterday night when the police got information that Myanmar nationals were seen near Pan Nallah by the villagers, additional police team was sent to that area under the supervision of SI Maurya.
The foreign nations were bought to PS Diglipur and further
investigations are on.
Minor girl becomes pregnant: POCSO case registered at Diglipur

Khudirampur, Jun 28: The Police of PS Diglipur today arrested a 21 years resident of Khudirampur village of Diglipur under POSCO Act.
As per the details available here the accused had an affair with a school student since last three years. The accused reportedly had physical relationship also with the girl promising her to marry.
Meanwhile, the girl became pregnant and the accused did not even turn up for support and hence the girl registered a case against the accused at PS Diglipur. The police immediately arrested the accused after the complaint and further investigations are on.
Villager suffers heart attack during encroachment eviction drive; dies

Khudirampur, June 25: One person namely Mr. Sriram Das aged about 50 years died due to heart attack during a demolition drive at Khudirampur area of Diglipur.
According to reports, the Asst Commissioner Diglipur had issued notice on 23rd June to the concerned parties to vacate a encroached revenue land of 9 sq mtr, which is said to be encroached by the Mr. Abiram Das, R/o Khudirampur.
A demarcation date was fixed 25th June Area and Patwari, RI reached the spot to vacate the said land on the same day.
Some RCC pillars were erected on the said land and the demolition team soon started to demolish the pillars with hammers.
The brother of the Mr. Abiram Das, Mr. Sriram Das reached the spot and after seeing the demolition process, Mr. Sriram Das collapsed on the spot, who was brought to CHC Diglipur, where he was declared brought dead.
An UDFIR has been filed in this regarding at PS Diglipur and further investigations are on.
Two King Cobra Snakes shifted from Kadamtala Villages

Kadamtala, June 26: A social worker of Kadamtala region, Mr. Subrata Basu has once again caught King Cobra snakes from Kadamtala area and helped the public of the region and also the Forest Department. According to reports on Sunday, following requested Mr. Basu caught, nearly 8 feet long, two King Cobra Snakes, one each from the house of Mr. Ashim Roy, Shantanu Village and Kishor Biswas, Uttara Village on Sunday and later handed over the snakes to the Forest Department.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Mr. Basu claimed that till now he has caught more than 150 different snakes including King Cobra from residential areas of Kadamtala and helped public as well as Forest Department. In case of sighting of any snake, public of the region usually call Mr. Subrata Basu for help, who after informing Forest Department, catches snakes, in presence of Forest Department staffs, he informed.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Mr. Basu said that he learned the techniques of snake catching from internet, especially Youtube Videos, so that he can help save people of his area from snakes and also snakes from human attack.
Short Circuit ANSCB Diglipur

Diglipur, Jun 15: A short circuit was reported from Andaman and Nicobar State Cooperative Bank, Diglipur nearly three days ago. Due to this all mojor transactions including cheques remained affected.
The bank is now reportedly doing minor cash transactions with the help of Aerial Bay and Main branch at Port Blair manually. The repair works will be done tomorrow if the mechanics reach Diglipur from Port Blair on time, sources said.
Cyber Crime: One arrested by Andaman and Nicobar Police from Jharkhand

Diglipur, June 13: Nearly 200 cases of ATM Fraud, PIN leakages etc under Cyber Crime have been lodged in different Police Stations of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and a large number of cases among these are from North and Middle Andaman.
Now it seems that Andaman and Nicobar Police is cracking these cases one by one.
Leading in such cases, Diglipur Police Station has once again arrested one more person in one of such Cyber Fraud cases. This time the accused, Mr. Rajendra Mahato, has been arrested from Jharkhand after stolen money trail has been found connected to his accounts.
A team of Police Station Diglipur under the leadership of Sub Inspector Debrata Raha, under overall supervision of SHO PS Diglipur, Inspector, Mahesh Yadav and under the direction of Dy.S.P Diglipur, Mr. Sukat S Ballabh went to Jharkhand and arrested the accused after proper investigation. Later Transit remand of the accused was obtained and after reaching Port Blair, today the accused was produced in Mayabunder Court from where he has been sent to Judicial Custody.
Recently the same police station had arrested one more accused in one of such Cyber fraud cases and the same SHO, while his posting at PS Aberdeen had solved one such case in Port Blair too.
As per report there are atleast 200 such cases pending but due to lack of interest hardly few cases have only been cracked till date. But now it seems Andaman and Nicobar Police is taking some initiatives and arresting the accused, which in future will keep hard earned money of Islanders safe.
Kalighat Police Unit seizes 1 KG Ganja

Diglipur, June 13: A team of Kalighat Police Unit, North & Middle Andaman, on its effort to curb drug menace in the islands, after putting tremendous effort today at around 01:00pm seized 01 Kg of Ganja, by arresting two residents of Sita Nagar, Diglipur.
As per reports, under the overall supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Diglipur, Mr. Sukat S Ballabh and under the leadership of SHO Kalighat Police Unit, Devan Kumar Roy, the team of the Police unit was gathering information about the peddlers and today after getting a strong lead the team headed towards Kishori Nagar PHC from where, the Police team consisting of SHO Devan Kumar Roy, Sub-Inspector SN Halder, PC Rahul Kumar Maurya, PC Abhijit Mandal and PC PK Majhi caught the accused Ashok Senapati, R/o Sitanagar and Barun Dutta, R/o Sitanagar from an Auto Rickshaw with 01 kg of Ganja.
Seizure of such a big consignment by the Kalighat Police Unit definitely means that the small team of the Police Unit is very stringent towards criminals and leaving no stone unturned to keep their jurisdiction free from drug menace. It is learnt that both the accused are presently in the custody of the Police and will be produced in the Court tomorrow.
One arrested under POCSO Act; Several others for taking advantage of Case

Diglipur, June 12: A Ward Member of a remote village of Diglipur, belonging to CPI(M) was arrested by Police at Diglipur after a case of POCSO was registered against him by parents of the minor girl.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that nearly seven people who wanted to take political mileage from this incident and had forced the accused to resign from the post, promising to safeguard him from the case, were also later arrested by police, after a thorough investigation. However, top police officials could not be contacted for complete details. Further Information is awaited.
Public objects appointment of Anganwadi helper at Kalighat

Kalighat, 25 May: ICDS conducted an interview for Anganwadi helper at ward No 5 at Kalighat on 10th Nay 2018. In that interview one female candidate was selected and later she was appointed in that post.
Now the public of that area are opposing the appointment as according to them the candidate does not belong to that area.
Public alleged that in all selections of Anganwadi, workers local candidates who are permanent resident of that area, are appointed.
But as per public in this case the candidate is a resident of Tugapur Mayabunder who is married to a Paschimsagar resident. As per public, after marriage she is residing at Kalighat with her husband in a rented house.
Opposing this public held a second dharna last Monday in front of Anganwadi centre while the first one was held in early this month. The public are also not allowing her to enter into that Anganwadi, because to this the Anganwadi is running without a helper, it is learnt.
Meanwhile, as per detail, the Pradhan and village has written a letter to CDPO protesting against this appointment and demanding appointment of a candidate from that area, as it is done in other places.
Meanwhile, Andaman Sheekha approached Social Welfare Department twice for a comment on this issue but as the Director is away, no one else is willing to reply to any of the questions in this issue.
Post Office Strike: Paralyses Postal Services

Diglipur, Jun o4: Postal services have come to a halt in all branches and sub post offices in the A & N District, following a strike by the members of All-India Gramin Dak Sevak Union for the past 12 days in All India level.
Alleging that Gram Dak Sevaks are working under poor condition, AIGDSU secretary (A & N Islands) P Malyadri said that “we have demanded regularisation of GDS staff, eight-hour work and provision of pension as directed by New Delhi and Madras benches of Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). We further demanded the implementation of the modifications as recommended by the Chandra Committee,” he said.
In Andaman 1 HPO, 18 Sub Post Offices and 75 rural offices are participating in this strike. About 75% staffs in Islands are GDS staff.
Meanwhile, the locals are facing a tough time due to the ongoing protests by the postal staffs. While some people are deeply worried as they are unable to withdraw money from Post Office because of this strike, even for urgent needs, many other youths are worried that because of such strike they may not get important letters about various job interviews and call letters.
