Shanti Nagar, Diglipur, Sep 11: Yet another rape case has been registered at Diglipur today. As per sources on Saturday 8th September a 16 year minor girl was allegedly raped by a 23 year old youth, when parents of the girl went out to Diglipur Bazaar, which is far away from Shantipur village.
As per details, some people who were passing by, heard the screams of the girl and caught the accused red handed.
When parents of the girl returned to home on Sunday, they decided to report the matter to the police.
Today morning they reportedly reached the PS Diglipur for filing the complaint. The accused was reportedly arrested by the Police. Further details are awaited.
Shortage of Teachers; Students of Kadamtala stage protest, block ATR

Kadamtala, Sept 10: Students of Sr. Secondary School Kadamtala today staged protest against lack of teachers for various subjects. The students allege that despite taking up this issue in all possible levels nothing has been done and to express their anger, they organized this protest.
According to reports the strike was first organized at school premises but later some students blocked ATR for nearly one hour. Later the DEO, Mr. Shashi Kumar of Rangat Zone visited the protest site and assured positive steps to solve the problem. Following the assurance of DEO the strike was called off by students.
However, some students maintained that if within 10 days the demands for sending teachers are not fulfilled the students will launch massive protest and block ATR again.
13 feet long King Cobra Caught

Kadamtala, Sept 09: A 13 feet long King Cobra has been again caught by Mr. Subrata Basu, a social worker, from old Fire Brigade building of Kadamtala yesterday night. According to reports the King Cobra was then handed over to forest department for safe release in Forest area.
Good response to Andaman Bandh at Diglipur

Diglipur, Sep 06: On the call of Joint Action Forum, total bandh was also organized today by the Shopkeepers, Auto unions, Private buses, Jeep owners, Fiber boat union demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit system in these Islands.
Hundreds of shop keepers, residents and Settlers Offspring Welfares Organization members reached Diglipur bazaar junction today morning and sat down on the roads for chakka jam.
Early morning STS buses plied as usual but after 8am they were obstructed by the public.
Chakka Jam was also observed near the Vivekananada Stadium, Subashgram bazaar and Sitanagar area. Only the Ambulances and Defense vehicles were allowed to pass.
The Asst Commissioner Diglipur Mr. Shailender Kumar Singh and Dy SP Mr. R K Singh requested the Bandh organizers and general public to allow the STS buses and remove the jam but they didn’t listen. The school and other Govt. offices were opened today but attendance was low. There is no report of an untoward incident from Diglipur zone.
The IRBN, A & N Police worked immensely under the guidance of i/c PS Diglipur S.I.V K Maurya. An Ambulance and other vehicles were on standby for any untoward incident.
Major boost for BSNL network in Diglipur

Diglipur, Sep 01: The Diglipur area will soon get a major boost from BSNL network. Sources told Andaman Sheekha that the new OFC (Optical Fiber Cable) being laid from Port Blair to Diglipur will be completed within this month.
Present OFC which is already there, is two decades old and damaged in many places due to landslides, there are many cuts and joints due to various reasons.
As per the sources, a new OFC is presently being laid from Port Blair to Diglipur at 6.5 feet below the surface which will make it safer and the project will be completed within one week, it is learnt. After this another new OFC line from Diglipur to Port Blair will also be laid soon on completion of that, number of OFC lines will be 3 from present 1. Once that happens possibilities of disconnection of internet will be a past for Diglipur region.
Government Polytechnic inaugurated at Diglipur

Sitanagar, Sep 04: Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray inaugurated Government Polytechnic in the premises of Government Model School at Sitanagar today at 1030 am. Asst Commissioner Diglipur, Pramukh Diglipur and PRI members present on this occasion. Addressing to the gathering MP expressed happiness and said that this is a long pending demand of the Diglipur youth. He lauded the efforts of Prime Minister Modi’s various schemes and outlined the schemes and programmes of the Central Government. Ray also highlighted the developmental activities which are taking place in these Islands.
ANIIDCO Chilling Centre’s inaugurated at Diglipur

Diglipur, Sept 04: The Member of Parliament of A & N Islands, Mr. B P Ray inaugurated two Milk chilling plants at Diglipur today.
The first one was inaugurated at 1230 PM near GSSS Subhashgram, and the second one in the evening at 0430 at Nabagram gram Panchayat. To provide an assured market to local livestock owners the ANIIDCO is collecting the surplus milk from Diglipur and after chilling, sending it to the Milk plant at Port Blair. Due to this, the farmers at Diglipur getting assured remuneration at regular intervals.
Already one 1000 ltrs capacity chiller was established at Durgapur village of Diglipur. The success of the scheme has led to demands from adjoining villages willing to be covered under the milk supply scheme.
OFC cut at Kolkata: Internet services disrupted

Diglipur, Sep 2: All broadband internet services in A & N Islands collapsed at 8 AM on 1st September due to fiber cable cut at Diamond Harbour at West Bengal. Due to this the Broadband server at Kulfi satellite station suffered disruption. The link was temporarily restored after 4 PM yesterday and after 11 PM the link was again disrupted till today evening 05.30 PM due to permanent repairing of yesterdays cut.
Airgun menace continues; One hit by Airgun pellet by mistake

Kadamtala, Aug 30: A 12 year old resident of Kadamtala while using an Airgun for killing a snake, today shot another minor boy 15 year old. The Airgun pellet, reportedly hit near chest of the boy, who was going to meet his brother.
Immediately the boy was rushed to PHC Kadamtala from where later, he was referred to GB Pant Hospital at Port Blair. Till last report poured in the bullet could not be found.
Meanwhile, as per report rampant use of Airguns is not only posing threat to public, especially children but also has become a major threat for endangered birds. In various part of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Airguns are being openly used for hunting birds.
Now people of these Islands are demanding immediate review of law relating to purchase and use of Airguns in these Islands for the safety of people and birds. Wildlife lovers are demanding total ban on import of Airguns in these Islands.
Congress organize conference at Diglipur

Diglipur, Aug 30: A Conference of Congress party was held under the leadership of A & N In charge Mr. Gaurav Gogoi, Member of Parliament at Multipurpose hall Subhashgram Diglipur today.
Earlier the party workers and general public received him at Sitanagar Bijen from there Mr Gaurav Gogoi led a motor bike rally from Sitanagar Bijen to multipurpose hall at Subhashgram organized by the Youth congress. At the hall party workers, Mahila congress workers, youth congress workers, senior party leaders welcomed him with traditional deity.
Mr Samar Paul welcomed all the guests to the conference. After that In his Inaugural Speech Mr. Subhankar Sarkar (Ex MLA West Bengal) requested the womenfolk and youths to strengthen the hands of the Congress Party. “Whatever developments are found in India and also in these islands, are the contributions of this Party only,” he said. After that Sushil Mandal, Ex Adhyaksh, ZP, Paritosh Haldar Ex Vice President (State) spoke on this occasion.
During the Conference meeting Mrs Hazeena Syed, Mahil Morcha National Gen Secretary launched a new separate flag for Mahila Congress.

The public is now appreciating Rahul Gandhi’s leadership and wants to save India from BJP led government. Mr. Gogoi laid emphasis on strengthening the party cadre for which he urged that each and every party leaders and workers to get actively work for Congress party.
