Mayabunder, Mar 02: The Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman has served a notice to all the cable operators of the region and directed them to attend a meeting in his office. Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the DC of N & M Andaman, Mr. Awanish Kumar recently said that he has been informed by the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands that many Cable Operators in N & M Andaman are not providing DDK Port Blair and taking action on that issue, he has called a meeting for all cable operators of the region. He also assured stringent action keeping interest of general public in mind.

Water curtailment bringing nightmares for Middle Andaman residents

Mayabunder, March 01: Since the very beginning of the summer season, the water crisis in the North and Middle Andaman region has been started and the conundrum has started giving nightmares to the residents of the region.
According to the villagers, it’s the first time in history, when from the very beginning of the summer season itself, water curtailment has been started.
“Water is supplied in our area twice in a week, how anybody could manage the show, this region neither has a private party who supplies water on payment, said a resident of Mayabunder.
In Baratang region water is supplied every sixth day which is causing great inconvenience .
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Shivananda Bairagi, Pradhan, Pahelgaon Gram Panchayat held the Andaman Public Works Department entirely responsible for the water crisis issue.
He said that there are several sources of water in the Mayabunder region but most of which are not utilised properly resulting in the water shortage in the area.
“Water curtailment is an issue but there are around 28 families in Pahelgaon North West and Pahelgaon South West who have not yet provided with pipeline connections even after the direction of the DC to the APWD,” said Mr. Shivananda. “Those people are traveling 02 km every day for water,” said Mr. Shivananda
However, talking to Andaman Sheekha, the District Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman, Mr. Awanish Kumar said that the N & M Andaman Administration is well equipped to tackle the situation and APWD is prepared to provide door to door water supply through tanker, he urged the public not to panic.
Rangat Police Solves Burglary Case within 24 Hours of Registration of FIR; Makes 100 % Recovery
Port Blair, Feb 27: Acting swiftly on the complaint of burglary at Bakultala the police team of Rangat arrested one accused person namely Rahul Sarder R/o Ulidera, Shyamkund, Rangat on 24/02/2020 and recovered all the stolen articles.
On 23/02/2020 a complaint was received from Bakultala that an unknown person has broken the house and stole away the gold jewellery from the house, since the house owner were gone to their relatives house. In absence of house owner the accused broke open the main door during night hours and stolen away the gold ornament which was kept inside the Almirah by breaking the lock of the Almirah. On receipt of this complaint an FIR was registered and a special team was constituted immediately comprising of Inspr. Usman Ali, SHO PS Rangat, SI Parvesh, HC D. K Singh, PCs Nishit Das and Mohd.Rafique of PS Rangat under the close supervision of Mr. R. K Sharma, SDPO Rangat. By interrogating a number of suspects and deploying informers, the team solved the burglary case and succeeded to recover all stolen articles worth value of approx. Rs. 35,000/- within 24 hours of registration of FIR and arrested the accused person namely Rahul Sarder R/o UlideraShyamkund, Rangat. The accused was booked under the relevant section of law and produced before the Hon’ble Court for further action.

One arrested with Ganja from Chainpur

Port Blair, Jan 30: Yesterday NDPS case was registered in Mayabunder Police Station. According to reports based on a tip off a team of Mayabunder police unit raided house of Mr. Babul Das a resident of Chainpur, Mayabunder and seized nearly 500 grams of Ganja from his possession.
One arrested at Mayabunder under POCSO Act for impregnating minor

Mayabunder, Jan 30: A 27 year old youth of Mayabunder was arrested yesterday under POCSO act for impregnating a minor girl of his area. According to details following belly pain when parents of the minor girl took the girl to hospital, doctors found the minor girl pregnant, after which the matter was reported to police. Soon a POCSO case was registered against the accused.

Mayabunder, Sept 23: On Friday last at 10.30 AM Student Council’s election of MGG College was conducted. Total 19 candidates contested for different posts.
Ms Anima Barwa student of History contested as a presidential candidate of ABVP, Mr. Subrata Biswas contested as General Secretary from ABVP, Mr. Harish Narayan contested as Vice President from NSUI, Mr. Jai Vignesh contested as joint secretary from NSUI, Mr. Ganesh M contested as treasurer from ABVP.
The whole election was conducted in a peaceful environment without any chaos. Ms Anima Barwa has been elected as President by defeating her closest rival Mr. Kushal Biswas of Geography IIIyr, Mr. Subrata Biswas elected as Gen Secretary by defeating his nearest rival Mr. Manoj Kumar, Mr. Jai Vignesh elected as Joint Secretary by defeating Ms. Sabeena Bibi, Mr. Ganesh captured the post of Treasurer by defeating his nearest rival Mr. Bapan Paramanick.
This is first time that a Girl candidate contested in presidential post in MGGC, Mayabunder Students’ Council and got victory. Principal and staffs blessed all the contestants who got elected.
Heavy Rain Disrupts Normal Life in Middle Andaman Region

Billyground, Aug 22: Heavy rainfall today disrupted normal life of people in Middle Andaman area. According to details because of continuous heavy rain for several hours in Billyground, Swadeshnagar and Shantipur villages of Middle Andaman regions, flood like situation could be seen in many places.
According to reports water gushed inside some classrooms of Govt. Middle School Billyground, there was flood like situation in some areas of Billyground Bazaar too. Playground, many stretches of ATR were also seen partially submerged in stagnated water today.
Blackout of BSNL mobile network, in the region also added to the plight of people. Several areas of Middle Andaman also witnessed power cuts for several hours because of the heavy rain. Police and other agencies are monitoring the situation closely.
One Arrested for Sexually assaulting Minor Boy in Diglipur

Port Blair, Apr 09: One person has been arrested by the police unit of Diglipur for sexually assaulting an 11 year old minor boy. According to report the accused is a door to door fast food vendor and a resident of Madhupur. The accused somehow took the minor boy in his home and committed the crime. Later when the boy reported this matter to family member the accused was arrested under POCSO Act and 377 IPC for unnatural sex. The minor boy reportedly suffered physical injuries.
Diglipur Raids: No arrests as of now says DC N& M Andaman

Port Blair, Mar 19: The Income Tax Department and Andaman and Nicobar Police raided several locations of Diglipur on Monday evening and picked up several people suspecting use of illegal money in lucrative land dealings at Diglipur.
However according to the Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman, Mr. Awanish Kumar, as of now no arrest has been made in this case.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Deputy Commissioner said that following some information these raids were conducted and even one Notary and two local land dealers were questioned in this regard. He said that the inquiry is on and only after its completion, he will be able to comment more on this. The DC assured that based on the investigation whatever action is required will be taken.
Meanwhile, sources told Andaman Sheekha that the case is being transferred to CID for further investigation but this information could not be confirmed yet.
