Mayabundar, Apr 29: Danapur Junction, Mayanundar is one of the busiest junctions in North and Middle Andaman District. Every day hundreds of people, including college and school students, pass the Danapur junction for several works. For the convenience of public a toilet block was constructed at the Junction several years back but sadly at present the same toilet block is in such a bad shape that even stray animal never enter inside it.
Those, who are unaware of the condition of the said toilet block and enter inside it because of emergency, get nightmares for several months. When Andaman Sheekha Correspondent contacted the Pradhan of Pokadera Mrs. Joythy, she informed that the toilet block was damaged in 2004 Tsunami and after that its renovation was not put in the plan.
But the reply of the Pradhan does not carry any weight as according to government records no building in North and Middle Andaman was damaged by tsunami. Moreover, after Investigation Andaman Sheekha has found that the said toilet block was constructed in 2006 and not before 2004. Hence there is no possibility that the toilet block will get damaged during 2004 tsunami. Later a contractor of the region has also confirmed that the said toilet block was constructed in 2006 and not in 2004. Hope the Pradhan has not already repaired any other prominent building of the region, showing that the building was damaged by 2004 tsunami.
