Diglipur, Sept. 01: Mrs. Anita Mondal, TMC’s official candidate for 2014 Lok Sabha Elections from A & N Constituency today said that about her identity as an Islander, she has answers if anyone raises questions.
“On being an Islander, if questions are raised I shall suitably answer,” said Mrs. Anita Mondal when Andaman Sheekha asked that how she would justify that she is an Islander.
Former Congress MP and present President of A & N Trinamool Congress Mr. Manoranjan Bhakta is presently visiting Diglipur Island with his daughter Anita Mondal.
Earlier Andaman Sheekha interviewed Mr. Manoranjan Bhakta, the president of ANTTCC. The extracts of the interview is reproduced below.
AS: What is the purpose of this visit to Diglipur?
MRB: I want to show our candidate to the village public as far as possible so we are going to villages. We would visit Kalighat, Ramnagar, Radhanagar, Kishorinagar and Parangara tomorrow. At Rangat and Middle Andaman there are some oppositions regarding the TMC’s LS election candidate but in coming days that would be sorted out.
AS: People doubt on your loyalty and integrity now after change of Political Parities.
MRB: Kuldeep says that if the Congress Party High Command allows me to enter Congress once again then Pradesh Congress Committee will become weak and the party will not grow further. This is their mentality. My last wish is that when I die, my body should be covered with Tri-Colour. Sonia Gandhi and other senior Congress leaders have no objection on my re-joining Congress party as I have grown up with the Congress Party. When there was difference with Congress Party High Command, Mamata Banerjee formed a new party. I too faced some differences so I joined All India Trinamool Congress.
AS: Islanders believe that you are planning revenge by joining TMC as everybody knows TMC won’t win the elections.
MRB: My daughter is the candidate now, I am not the candidate. I have faith that people of these Islands will support my daughter. People of these Islands are very soft hearted.
AS: For the coming elections, what would be your strategy?
MRB: What I have done in last 40 years for the development of these islands will help me and my daughter. Our workers will also work hard.
