Port Blair, Mar 08: Around seventeen Dialysis Machines have reached Port Blair Island and the Directorate of Health Services is all set to place these machines in various CHCs and PHCs in and around Andaman and Nicobar Islands, for which the target date is 31stMarch 2020.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Dr. Omkar Singh said that as per norms dialysis machines are supposed to be provided only at the District Hospitals but here in these Islands, considering the geographical hurdles being faced by patients, the DHS is all set to make sure that the Dialysis Machinesare available in every corner, especially in remote Islands.
The Director, Health Services, Dr Omkar further said that seventeen Dialysis Machines have already reached Port Blair and soon the Department will place 03 machines in CHC Bambooflat, 03 in Rangat and 03 in Diglipur, 04 in Car Nicobar, 02 in Shaheed Dweep (Havelock) and 01 in Little Andaman.
“31st March 2020 is our targeted date to make the machines operational in these locations but as transportation is a big problem we are trying our level best,” Dr. Omkar said.
