Port Blair, June 18: The vaccination drive is continuing smoothly in A&N Islands. As per the data received from Health Department, a total of 1,36,622 beneficiaries have been vaccinated so far in A&N Islands. A total of 762 people were vaccinated today in A&N Islands while the number of eligible people vaccinated in the age group of 18 to 44 years stood at 16,830 in Isles.
390 beneficiaries were vaccinated in South Andaman District, out of which, 352 were in the age group of 18-44 years. In N&M Andaman, 93 beneficiaries were vaccinated out of which 89 were in the age group of 18-44. In Nicobar District, 279 beneficiaries in the age group of 18-44 years were vaccinated.
Medicine distribution drive by ABVP
Port Blair, June 16: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarathi Parishad under its COVID-19 Relief Programs organized a medicine distribution drive under the guidance of Dr. Kandimuthu Vibhag Pramukh, ABVP ANI.
The team was leaded by State Secretary R.Rajsekar accompanied by Organising Secretary Ramesh Paramanik, City-Secretary U.ParthaSarathi and State Joint Secretaries Atul Chander Das & Seema Kumari.
Homeopathic medicine named ARSENIC 30 immunity booster (recommended by Ministry of Ayush) was distributed to the residents of Brookshabad as ABVP ANI adopted this village.
The team distributed the immune booster medicine to atleast 250 people in the village and also apprised public to follow COVID-19 etiquettes and stay safe, healthy and positive during this pandemic situation.
Vaccine slot booking to opens for South Andaman at 8.00 AM on 10 June 2021

Port Blair, June 09: The vaccine slot booking for South Andaman region will open tomorrow at 8.00 AM instead of 9.30 AM. As per Health Services sources booking for slots of vaccination is opened only twice a week i.e. on Monday and Wednesday at 9.30 AM for next three days but today it could not be done because, there was no vaccine.
“Today however, 7620 doses of vaccines reached Port Blair after 9.30 AM and by the time the vaccines were counted and arranged it was 11.30 AM and hence today in Cowin website there was no option for online vaccine slot booking. Tomorrow from 8.00 AM Islanders can book vaccine slots through Cowin website for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. From next Monday and Thursday the slot booking will open at 9.30 AM, on usual time, subjected to availability of vaccines,” sources in Health Department said.
As per insiders, out of 7620 doses of vaccines received today 1500 doses will be sent to North and Middle Andaman and another 1000 doses will be sent to Nicobar District soon.
According to reports in the first installment Andaman and Nicobar Islands had received nearly 9070 vaccines for 18+ population and then orders for more 10,000 vaccines were placed but out of 10,000 only 7620 doses arrived today and while another 2380 doses are pending.
Other than this, another 6,300 doses of vaccines are also scheduled to arrive in coming days for 18+ population.
Of late people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been complaining that they are unable to book slots for vaccines online as the time of slot opening was not constant.
COVID-19 patient of Little Andaman dies

Port Blair, June 06: On 4th June morning a 56 year old female ILI patent of VK Pur area of Little Andaman was shifted to RK Pur for breathing problem.
After the patient reached hospital, she was immediately admitted and isolated. The Doctor of the PHC immediately started treatment and on the same day she was tested with RAT, in which she was tested COVID-19 positive, hospital sources confirmed.
On receiving this information revenue department also swung into action and isolated the ILI patient’s family. The patient was on continuous oxygen support but later early this morning at around 4.30 AM she died. Villagers of the area are now demanding immediate testing of more and more villagers of the area so that they can feel safe.
2150 beneficiaries of 18-44 age group vaccinated till date: DC, NMA

Port Blair, Jun 03: Dr. Angel Bhati Chauhan, the Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman District said that vaccination drive at North and Middle Andaman for age group between 18-44 year old people is going on smoothly.
While talking to Andaman Sheekha Daily in a telephonic conversation the DC of N&M Andaman District informed that altogether 2150 eligible beneficiaries of 18-44 age group has been vaccinated with their first dose till today.
She further pointed out that opening up of more vaccination centers in various primary health center of the District apart from Rangat, Mayabunder and Diglipur depends upon the stock of vaccines received, and the Administration itself is looking to scale-up. Further decision would be taken once next batch of vaccine is received,” she added.
Regarding ATR up-gradation works she said that National Highway work is also in progress. “We hope problems occurred earlier would not be repeated this time, administration will ensure that there should be no road blockage and simultaneously work will be in progress”, the DC added.
Civil Society and District Administration organises Blood Donation Camp
Port Blair, May 31: A blood donation camp was conducted at GB Pant Hospital by the District Administration in coordination with Civil Society Organisation to address the shortage of blood in the blood Bank of the Hospital.
This matter was brought to the knowledge of District Administration as due to the prevailing pandemic situation most of the voluntary blood donors were not coming forward to donate blood.
Taking gravity of the situation, Mr. Suneel Anchipaka, Deputy Commissioner (SA) took up the matter on priority and discussed with Civil Society Organisations and accordingly a strategy was envisaged whereby a list of willing donors ready to donate blood to the blood bank was prepared in coordination with Transport department and Civil Society Organisations such as Friends to Support, Yuva Bharath Samaj Seva Trust and Hindu Rashtra Sabha. Following this the DC(SA) made all the arrangements with the line departments for the movement of the donors from their respective homes to the blood bank for donation and prospective donors were brought to GB pant.
The District Administration will continue to hold such camps in the future also to augment the shortage of blood in the blood bank which would be instrumental in saving precious lives. The DC(SA) further requested other Civil Society Organisations to come forward in this regard as and when required.

406 registered beneficiaries in the age group of 18 to 44 years vaccinated: 1, 20, 801 doses of vaccine administered so far in Isles
Port Blair, May 23: The vaccination drive is being held in A&N Islands. About 406 people in the age group of 18 to 44 years were vaccinated in South Andaman today. The online registration for the vaccination is done through CoWIN portal and Aarogya Setu App. Online registration is mandatory and no on-site registration will be done and people have been advised to reach the centres as per the time schedule provided to the beneficiaries through the App. In South Andaman, the vaccination is being done at JNRM Vaccination Centre between 9.30 am and 12.30 pm. The general public have been requested to follow Covid appropriate behavior while going for vaccination.
Meanwhile, the vaccination for the beneficiaries of 45+ who have not taken the vaccine have been requested to get themselves vaccinated.
414 doses of COVISHIELD vaccines were administered to the eligible beneficiaries by the health teams in South Andaman today (May 23), taking the total number of doses of vaccines administered so far to 1, 20, 801, a press release from DHS said.

SKSSF collaborates with SA District Administration in setting up Covid Care Centre (CCC)
Port Blair, May 19: The Samastha Kendra Sunni Students Federation (SKSSF), a socio-religious organization of Sunni Muslim community of the Islands headquartered at Wimberly Gunj, with the active support of its community members has recently collaborated with the South Andaman District Administration in setting up the COVID CARE CENTRE in the Forest Training School, Wimberly Gunj.
Towards this endeavor, SKSSF Andaman has provided essential aids viz Bedsheets, Pillows, Covers, Water Heaters, Plastic buckets, dustbin etc. as an aid to augment the existing infrastructure arrangements in the Covid Care Centre for convenience of the admitted patients.
Besides this, volunteers of SKSSF are providing assistance for Door to Door delivery of essential items to needy households. A special covid relief campaign has also been launched for relief and support of downtrodden daily wage earners by providing suitable free ration kits. The SKSSF Ambulance Service has also been launched, which is provind 24×7 assistance to needy households and is utilized to transit patients to COVID Care Centre or to tertiary health care facility.
SKSSF has resolved to assist and support District Administration in providing speedy delivery of services to the general public at large in the containment zones and is committed to the cause and welfare of the society.
