Port Blair, March 19: The School of Inter-Disciplinary and Trans-Disciplinary Studies of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a new programme-Certificate Programme in Solid Waste management (CSWM). The Solid Waste Management programme is commencing from July 2020 academic session. The programme will provide an overview of the solid waste management situation covering key elements of the waste management system, with its, environmental, social, financial and institutional aspects. Besides understanding the challenges the learners will learn about appropriate and sustainable solutions including suitable waste management policy issues. The programme aims at generating man power to tackle the growing problems of waste generation and finding optimum solutions. This will give an insight into the characteristics and nature of various kinds of waste, its effect on human health and natural ecosystem and socio economic consequences of waste generation. The programme will provide learners with the necessary means to develop the capacity to carry out independent waste management procedures. In addition, learners will be well equipped to analyze and segregate different types of waste materials and will be able to propose sustainable solutions.
The six months Certificate Programme in Solid Waste management is offered in Hindi medium, Fees Rs. 3600/- consists of 3 courses namely Introduction to Solid Waste, Municipal, Agricultural, Industrial and Hazardous Waste Management and Plastic, Electronic, Biomedical and Construction and Demolition Waste. 10+2 from a recognized Board are eligible for the programme. IGNOU Organise Orientation Programme for Tourism Faculties
Port Blair, March 18: The Indira Gandhi National Open University, Regional Centre, Port Blair is organizing Orientation Programme for Tourism & Travel Management Teachers on Thursday, 19th March 2020. The Resource Person from IGNOU- HQ, New Delhi will be giving the orientation training through Gyandarshan –The Educational TV channel of India. The Gyandarshan TV channel is having two-way audio interaction facility i.e. the participants can call the studio and talk to the Resource Person, over telephone line, for interaction purpose. The faculties/teachers of tourism subject, the persons who are working in tourism sector at managerial level or those running their own tourism agencies, can attend the said orientation programme. Port Blair, March 13: To facilitate the students of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair is organizing special Video Classes on every Saturday On 14th March 2020, during forenoon session 10.00 am to 12 noon CDs for BLIS students similarly, during post lunch session 12 noon to 2.00 pm CDs for MAEDU students will be played. The Video Class will be held at first floor of Kannada Sangha Building, IGNOU Regional Centre, Mohanpura. Each topic specific video CD will be of 30 minutes duration. The students of Bachelor of Library Science & Master of Arts in Education are informed through SMS/e-mail/ phone calls from Regional Centre. If the students are not able to attend on Saturday Video Class, they may come to Regional Centre on any working day from Monday to Friday between 10 am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 4 pm to watch the Video Class. Mark Sheets and Certificates Received by TGCE
Port Blair, Feb 03: The mark sheets and certificates of Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) and Professional Development Programme for Elementary Teachers (PDPET) conducted by NIOS have been received by Tagore Government College of Education, Port Blair. These mark sheets and certificates will be issued to the candidates on 7th March 2020 (Saturday) from 9:30 a.m. on production of I-card issued by NIOS. All eligible candidates are therefore advised to collect their mark sheets and certificates from the Study Centre Tagore Government College of Education, Port Blair i.e. on 7th March from 9:30 a.m. from the College Counter.
IGNOU Warehouse Open from Monday to Friday
Port Blair, Feb 03: The Study Material Warehouse of Indira Gandhi National Open University at Shadipur will function from Monday to Friday between 10 am to 5 pm. To facilitate the students, who are visiting out- of -office hour, a dropping box has been installed at the entrance of the Warehouse. A ready to fill-in application format is also kept aside the dropping box. This facility will remove the communication gap between the student and Warehouse staff. Being assignment submission period, to handle the rush of the students, Ms. Swaraja Laxmi Bai the Assistant of Regional Centre has additionally been put on duty at Warehouse.
