Port Blair, June 05: A team of National Security Guard (NSG) and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) from New Delhi is scheduled to reach Port Blair tomorrow to assist Andaman and Nicobar Police in finding the possible reasons behind the blast, which was reported at Brookshabad Garbage Dumping Yard on June 3, killing two people.
Local investigators are leaving no stone unturned to find out the possible reason behind the blast but till now they have failed to understand the reason behind the blast.
Police Cracks Murder Case within 24 hours
Port Blair, May 05: The Pahargaon Police here has solved a murder case, committed at Old Bimblitan, Teylerabad. According to a press release received here from the Superintendent of Police (SA), following a telephonic information received at PS Pahargaon Police team rushed to Old Bimblitan, Teylerabad and from the statement of one Shri Ramachandran, Panchayat member of Ward-3 R/o Teylerabad recorded at the spot revealed that 03/05/15 at about 1700 hrs while he was at his shop at Teylerabad, he was informed by a person namely Shri Srinivasan R/o Teylerabad that wife of Vinod Murmu was lying in an unconscious state in her house. On this, he alongwith other villagers including Vinod Murmu went to the house of Vinod Murmu and found that the front door was closed. He pushed the door opened and noticed that the wife of Vinod Murmu was lying motionless in pool of blood, oozing from her head injuries. He suspected that some unkown person had killed her. Upon this, a case vide crime No. 87/15 dt. 03/05/14 U/s 302 IPC was registered at this PS against unknown person and investigation was carried out under supervision of Shri B. Saigal, SDPO(South Andaman). The SP(D)SA also visited the spot. The Police team was headed by Insp. Hari Narayan, SHO PS Pahargaon.
The prime suspect, husband of the deceased, Vinod Murmu when put under sustained interrogation disclosed that there were frequent quarrels between him and the deceased Smti Chandi Devi. The previous day also, he had beaten her in the morning on some petty issues while a quarrel also took place between them in the evening over the issue of birth day of his daughter and the accused got angry & severely beat her with the intention to kill her and pushed her on to the wall of the house, due to which the deceased sustained severe head injury and soon succumbed to her injuries.
Accused Vinod Murmu, husband of the deceased has been arrested and will be produced in the Court of CJM for remand, the press release added.
BURMANALLAH MURDER CASE::::: Police yet to solve the mysterious murder case

Port Blair, May 03: Nearly two weeks ago Andaman Sheekha had published a news article about a suspected murder at Burmanallah. In this case, on 16 April, Police had found a half burnt body of a 27 year old youth namely Ramesh, a former security guard, from a Japanese Bunker of Burmanallah.
But even after more than two weeks the Police Department has failed to crack this case. According to highly placed sources, the police has also received the post mortem report nearly a week ago.
Sources also told Andaman Sheekha that a Sniffer dog was taken to the spot of the murder by a team of Police for investigation from where the dog took the police team to a house but the team could not go inside the house as they were not having warrant to enter inside private property.
When contacted, the Superintendent of Police of South Andaman, Mr Sibesh Singh said that police is trying its level best to crack the case but till now the inputs are inconclusive.
He agreed that a sniffer dog was used in this case but after four or five days of crime it becomes too difficult for a sniffer dog to give right indications.
About post mortem report he said that police has got only interim post mortem report. The Doctors have some doubts for which the specimens have been sent for Forensic Science Lab and once the FSL give report, the report will be handed over to the doctor concerned. He said only after that police will get some conclusive report.
Meanwhile it has been learnt that the Police has also scanned the call details of the accused to reach to the bottom of the case.
Suspected Murder at Bimblitan; Police sends body for Post Mortem

Port Blair, May 03: Andaman and Nicobar Police has registered a murder case today after death of a lady under mysterious circumstances.
According to report the victim, Chandni Devi was found dead by her husband Vinod Murmer at around 3.30 pm today. As per reports both husband and wife were looking after a plantation at Bimblitan and since morning they did not come out for daily works.
Sources told that at around 4.00 pm the husband told some villagers about his ‘unconscious’ wife after which the matter was reported to police.
On information a police team headed by Dy.S.P, Havelock and Dy.S.P (in-charge) South Andaman, Mr. B Saigal reached the spot with Forensic Science Lab Team and collected necessary evidences and specimens.
Sources told Andaman Sheekha that couple was under the influence of liquor this morning and there was injury marks on the victim’s head as well as on her neck.
Suspecting murder the Police has registered a case of Murder and sent the body of the victim for Post Mortem.
Five Persons Held for Gambling by Cid
Port Blair, Apr 29: Keeping its commitment of tough action against illegal activities, a team comprising of HC/1690 S. Vasudev, PC/66 Samsul Hussain, HG(R)/622 Shanmugam and HG(D)/707 Manoj Kr. Surain headed by S.I. N. Zainuddin, I/c PS CCS apprehended 05 Gamblers on 28/04/2015 namely 1) K. Kalai Selvam, 2) Sachin Pal. Ravi, 3) Manjeet Singh, 4) Dharuvo Kumar Das and 5) Jay Kumar who were involved in gambling at Bathu Basti near Diamond City Bar and recovered Rs. 40,850/- (Rupees Forty thousand eight hundred fifty only) from the spot. They were challaned under the Andaman & Nicobar Gambling Regulation.
The general public is requested to inform about any credible information pertaining to gambling, illegal sale or possession of liquor/drugs or any other illegal activity on the following telephone numbers- 100, 232586, 9474290250 & 233307. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
Two arrested for murdering Baratang Youth while fishing
Baratang, Apr 22: On 06/04/2015 at 1630 hrs, an information was received over phone from Mr Ray George, Ex-Pradhan, Nilambur Panchayat about accidental drowning of one person namely Bandana Mahali R/o Katan, Baratang in the Khara Nallah of Katan while fishing in the above said Nallah.
Upon this statement of Mr. Nandi Mahali S/o Mr. Halad Mahali (45 yrs), Pvt. Worker, R/o Katan, Baratang (relative of deceased) was recorded.
As per the statement, a UD FIR No. 02/15 dtd 06/04/2015, U/s 174 Cr.PC was registered at PS Baratang and investigation of the instant case carried out.
During investigation PME of the dead body of Bandana Mahali R/o Katan, Baratang was conducted, wherein doctor opined that “Death intracranial Hemorrhage as result of hard object trauma in upper occipital region of head”.
As per investigation on 06/04/15 Stephen Benghra along with his friend Sadrak Barla R/o Brookshabad, Port Blair reached Khara Nallah at about 0800 hrs with fishing net for fishing, and when they reached Khara Nallah they saw Bandhana Mahali also fishing by fishing net and taking advantage of the situation Stephen Benghra pushed Bandhana Mahali from back side due to which he slipped on the logs and fell down there, then Sadrak Barla bunged Bandhana Mahali’s nose and mouth and net over on his body and Stephen pulled him in water and spread fishing net to make it appear that Bandhana Mahali died due to accidental fall during fishing.
Afterwards, they left the body there and left for Diglipur via Rangat. Upon this, UDFIR No. 02/15 dtd. 06/04/15, U/s 174 Cr.P.C had been converted U/s 302/506/34 IPC against both the accused- Stephen Benghra and Sadrak Barla. They have been arrested on 19/04/15 at 1600 hrs and sent to JC remand.
The investigation of the case was carried out by SI Abdul Rehman, SHO PS Baratang under the close supervision of Shri. Ajay Kumar Rai, SDPO Rangat.
Special Police Team arrests swindler couple from Chennai

Port Blair, April 22: A couple who had cheated a number of innocent people as well as many prominent businessmen and escaped to Mainland has been trapped by the Tylerabad Police after nearly five months long investigation.
According to reports, the accused Mr Sarvana was running a multi brand two-wheeler showroom in the name of AMS automobiles at Bhathubasthi and used to sell and purchase second hand bikes and also used to arrange finance for customers for purchasing bikes and in the name of arranging finance for the customers he used to take the customer’s document and also a token money from the customers for arranging the full amount.
But for many customers Mr Sarvana neither arranged finance for the customers nor provided bikes.
The accused used to sell and purchase of motorcycles from many dealers of authorised brand at Port Blair on credit basis against post dated cheques. According to public in the month of December 2014 suddenly he went underground.
Sources said that the Mr. T Sarvana used to issue fake cheques from his wife’s account. They had also taken money from two banks and became defaulters. Not only this he purchased four wheelers on loan from Andaman and took that to mainland, without informing anyone.
After nearly five month long investigation the accused was finally brought down to Andaman along with his wife on Saturday 18th April 2015. When they were produced to court they were sent to JC Remand by the court.
Now it has been learnt that showing some fake excuses, the said couple is now planning to apply for bail and trying to come out of Jail, which has left all victims upset.
“The court must consider suffering of all the victims and reject their bail application. If they get bail they will again escape from Andaman and will again go underground,” said a victim.
Fake Currency in circulation at Havelock; involvement of tourists suspected

Havelock, Apr 16: With the arrival of more and more tourists at Havelock Island, the Island is also witnessing all kind of crimes and evil motives. After seizure of Ganja and Charas now the local police has found that fake currency is in circulation at Havelock.
Today when a dive centre went to deposit a huge amount at SBI bank of Havelock, the staffs of SBI found that 15 Rs. 1000 note were fake.
It is suspected that the Dive Centre received the amount from tourists but at this point of time it is impossible to track those tourists, who have given these fake notes to the Dive Centre. According to reports the Dive Centre has lodged an FIR at Havelock Police Station.
When contacted the Dy.S.P of Havelock Mr. B Saigal today said that a complaint has been received in this regard and investigations are in progress but he refused to reveal more details.
Fake Currency has become a headache for Islanders in Port Blair too and there were many reports when fake currencies were received by Islanders from ATM of several banks.
The Police Department must for an especial cell to monitor the circulation of Fake Currency in Andamans and get hold of those who are brining fake currency in Andaman. Meanwhile all hotels must also be advised to use fake currency detection machines, so that tourists depositing fake currencies can also be identified.
Death of a 12 year old boy in swimming pool triggers unrest; swimming coach picked up

Port Blair, Apr 10: Death of a 12 year old boy at the swimming pool of Department of Sports triggered a major unrest this evening.
According to details available here the boy Sumit Kumar Gupta, a student of class VII in Vivekananada Kendra Vidyalaya, was found drowned in the pool at around 6.00 pm this evening.
As per details, Specialist of G B Pant hospital Dr. Shiv Shankar Singh was at Swimming pool at that point of time, who reportedly gave CPR to the boy but boy did not respond.
Immediately the boy was rushed to the G B Pant Hospital where he was declared dead.
The swimming pool reportedly has life guards, coach and assistant coaches but at the time of accident there were reportedly no one in the pool and this negligence, as per the parents, resulted in this major disaster.
The parents of the child demanded stringent action against those who are responsible for this criminal negligence and also demanded a thorough inquiry in this entire issue.
There was unrest at G B Pant Hospital till last report poured in and senior officers like DGP, DC and Secretary Sports as well as Education visited the hospital and spoke to the parents.
The Secretary of Education reportedly assured the parents that suspension orders will be served to all the responsible officers by tonight.
According to report the coach of the swimming pool has been picked up by the police team this evening for inquiry however it is not yet confirmed whether he was arrested.
However, the matter appears to be more serious than it looks Andaman Sheekha investigation found that as per norms for any coaching there should not be more than 30 children in a batch of swimming but in the batch of 5pm to 6pm in which Sumit Kumar Gupta, used to come, there were more than 60 children, which makes impossible for any number of life guards to keep an eye on all the children all the time.
Moreover the swimming pool is said to be dangerous for children as it has too much depth at one corner. Moreover recently a non technical person has been made incharge of swimming pool, which is one of the main reasons of present mismanagement, many believe.
Drive against unauthorized constructions to continue::::Five more buildings sealed for unauthorized constructions
Port Blair, March 10: As part of the drive against unauthorized construction of buildings in Port Blair Municipal area, the Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC) today sealed five more buildings in the city for unauthorized constructions and in violation of the sanctioned building plan.
The buildings/structures sealed by the Council today include building/structure on Survey no. 1193/3 situated at Junglighat Village, Ward No. 07, building/structure on Survey No. 2481/3/2 situated at South Point Village, Ward No. 16, constructing the building/structure on Survey No. 142/P situated at Lambaline Village, Ward No. 10, building/structure on Survey no. 1845 situated at Aberdeen Bazaar (Babu Line), Ward No. 13 and building/structure on Survey No. 26/120 & 2686/P/1 situated at Aberdeen Village, Ward No. 14.
Meanwhile, the Secretary, PBMC has again appealed the public to construct the building as per the sanctioned building plan and not to carry out unauthorized construction of building in violation of the sanctioned building plan and against the Municipal Building Bye-Laws.
